✨MY TRUTH✨

One year ago today, I posted this knowing I was struggling at work. In this picture, I was filled with joy because my personal life was holding me together. Work though, that was tearing me apart.

I remember speaking on podcasts and at events thinking about how I had just cried my eyes out before, knowing I was probably going to cry after. I remember needing to watch what I said because at any moment, the people who were watching me were either going to tell on me (again) or I was going to get a ping or an email on Monday pointing out something I had done wrong that wasn’t supported by anything. 

I remember taking this picture knowing that while this was on a Saturday, my anxiety was going to come back the next day because Monday was coming. Yes fam, the Sunday scaries and the anxiety around it is real. The truth is, I was hiding behind this because I knew if I didn’t, I was going to continue to break. I was on the verge of taking a mental health leave of absence from work. Quite honestly, I’m not ashamed to admit that because I knew, a year ago, that if I didn’t, I was going to allow work to take control over the most important things in my life.

I say all of this to say, TODAY is SUNDAY. One year later, I don’t have anxiety attached to work because now, I am celebrated for my gifts and my creativity. Now, I can breathe when I speak on podcasts and at conferences. Now, I don’t have anyone pinging me or emailing me on Monday mornings telling me how much is a disruption I am being to the process. Yes, a leader actually said that to me, “You are a DISRUPTION TO OUR PROCESS.” Now, I can simply make impact and be.

If you have the Sunday scaries, allow your loved ones to help you through it. If it’s too much, you may have to find a place that will celebrate you. And that’s ok.
