You don’t get those returns in “dying categories.” You get those returns in infrastructure layers.

And recite this with me: CRM is not software. CRM is the system of record for revenue.

HubSpot just posted +20.87% YoY revenue growth.

THEY BEAT EARNINGS and THEY BEAT REVENUE PROJECTIONS
(Say it with me "HubSpot beat earnings, HubSpot beat earnings, HubSpot beat earnings.")

And the stock is down. Why??!???!?!??!?

Because Wall Street is DUMB drunk on one thing right now: AI cosplay.

If you don’t say “agent” every six seconds, the market assumes you’re a horse carriage company. 

MEANWHILE (in the real world) HubSpot is quietly doing the most important thing in SaaS: BECOMING the operating system for how businesses actually sell.

AI does not replace CRM. AI needs CRM.

The CRM is data gravity. Data gravity is what wins (AI is actually the easy part - you would know that if you ever ran a sales team before..)

You can’t build an AI GTM engine without a canonical system of record.

And guess what that system is.
It’s NOT your agent. It’s NOT your prompt. It’s for HELLo sure not your N8N/Zapier flow.

It’s Salesforce. It’s HubSpot. or Dynamics (I just threw up in my mouth, saying something good about Dynamics).

Always has been.

This market cycle is not “CRM vs AI.”

It is CRM becoming the control plane for AI.

The winners will be the platforms that:
OWN the data
OWN the workflows
OWN the permissions
OWN the revenue truth

AI will plug into them. NOT replace them.

So yeah - HubSpot beating revenue while the market shrugs is hilarious.

This is NOT a warning sign about "the end of CRMs"
That’s the market being blind AF

CRM ain’t going away, mofos. It’s just about to get smarter.

every new CMO should redesign the website in their first 90 days. 

honestly i don’t even know why we let them do anything else.

sales can wait. pipeline can wait. customers will still be confused later. BUT the homepage… the homepage is where leadership LIVEs.

it’s the only place in the company where you can move things around and everyone claps even if revenue dies.

i’ve watched three CMOs in a row walk in, nod at the dashboards, then  ask ,"Where the brand guidelines are?" That's how you know you hired a real one.

you don’t need to understand the product to fix the website. AND that’s the whole beauty of it. Understanding creates bias BUT design. Design is pure truth.

Last time we did it, our close rate dropped and churn went up. BUT the site finally had “a point of view.” And you can't put that in a CRM, which is why it’s so powerful.

if you don’t ship a redesign by day 90, you risk people asking what you’ve been doing. and nobody wants that.

it’s fine though. customers come and go.

if I was building another 10M service company today, I would build a list-building agency. Why / how?

WHY: I believe THE LIST is the single most important aspect. 

1. It’s the hardest thing left: 
It used to be that sending emails and making calls was the hard part. Now AI does that better, faster, and cheaper than any human ever will. (and RUINed it). What AI can’t do well yet is this:
- Find the right people at the right moment. That’s the real bottleneck now.
 Call it signal-based, intent-based, or timing.

Whatever the label - THIS is where humans still win. 

2. A better list buys you time:
A great list changes how you work. You don’t need volume OR spammy automation OR “spray and pray” Instead, you get to:
- Go quality over quantity
- Spend time thinking, not blasting
- AND Being human on purpose

When the list is right, your message doesn’t have to be clever. It just has to be relevant and timely And relevance + timing beats perfect copy every time.

3. Everything downstream gets easier
Bad list = heroic effort, low return
Good list = calm execution, consistent wins

If your GTM feels exhausting, frantic, or noisy, it’s usually not a messaging problem. IT's a LIST PROBLEM

HOW: I'm actively building this GTM engine for Supered⚡ (and almost done).  And it’s already changing how we sell. This is the exact approach.

--STEP 1: Before messaging anything, you need to decide which lists deserve to exist forever.

There are two types of lists:
- Recurring lists (constantly refilling)
- Static lists (one-time or slow refresh)

Recurring (and static) lists are the gold. Examples:
***People who follow you on LinkedIn, Companies that just raised funding, Product signups, People posting or commenting on topics you care about, Website visitors, +

These lists refill themselves. That’s the compounding advantage.

If your list doesn’t refresh on its own, you’re renting momentum instead of building it.

-- STEP 2:  Apply ICP + persona filters before you enrich
This is where most teams screw it up. They enrich first and qulfiy second Flip it. 

First: Define ICP, personas. ONLY then do you enrich.

If someone doesn’t meet your ICP or persona requirements, they don’t get data pulled. Period.

For the ones that do qualify: Email, LinkedIn, Phone

-- STEP 3:Push, score, and actually work the RIGHT people.

Qualified contacts get:
***Pushed into CRM
***Scored
***Tracked
***Worked intentionally

We are a surroundbound shop. That means all touches include LI, so need some other automation (connections, etc)
