SaaS is dead and I have never felt more alive.

Last month I cancelled every subscription. Built everything ourselves. CRM. Support queue. Documentation system. Project management. 
Slack replacement. All custom. All ours. 💪💪💪💪

Went from $4,200/month in tools to $11,400/month in API costs plus two engineers spending half their week maintaining the thing instead of building the thing.

My investors asked if that was..... more expensive.

I said you can't put a price on sovereignty.

They said they just did. It was $172,000 a year plus two senior salaries.
I told them they were thinking about it wrong.

My VP of Sales said the CRM stopped syncing three days ago. She found the support doc. It was outdated. She submitted a ticket to our 
internal support queue.

I am the internal support queue.

Response time is whenever I finish fixing the documentation system we built to replace the documentation tool we cancelled so I could fix the CRM we built to replace the CRM we cancelled.

She has a board presentation in two days.

She quit; she is clearly not an AI native employee.

My wife asked when I was coming to bed.

I said soon, and that I was debugging a prompt chain and that she should be proud of me.

That was four days ago.

I spent 3 years watching the same pattern destroy pipeline.

Leader builds process. Puts it in a doc. Trains the team. Moves on.
6 weeks later: "Why aren't reps following the process?"

B/C the process lives in a doc nobody opens. 
B/C ownership is split across 4 people, which means nobody owns it. B/C "remember to do X" is not a system. It's a prayer.

So I stopped asking reps to remember and started designing systems that make forgetting impossible.

Phase 1: Design the system before you blame the rep. Define non-negotiables. Assign real ownership. Kill "remember to" culture entirely.

Phase 2: Operationalize execution inside the CRM. Make expectations visible at the point of work. Turn violations into coaching signals. Audit before you automate. Design for momentum, not data entry.

Phase 3: Build a culture where execution is normal. Daily inspection. Momentum metrics. Reduced cognitive load. Systems over willpower.

The bottom line sitting underneath all 11 plays:

If your managers are chasing reps, the system failed. Not the rep.

- Call prep: full context on every conversation before I walk in
- Internal meetings deal intel on the fly, no tab-hunting 
- Follow-up drafts,  trained on my writing style, but I edit and send every one

I will never use AI for: 
- Mass emails that "feel personal" 
- Avatar videos pretending to be me 
- Voicemail drops from a robot with my voice 
- A digital version of me on a sales call

Your buyers know the difference. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Translating my analogy: AI is being commoditized. And won't be the reason you win. BET

We will end up in the same place. people will want MORE human interactions. Being HUMAN will be the competitive advantage.

Revops fam - we are getting it wrong. 

We don't need better data. If we optimize for better data, we are going to do horrendous things like:

"automating field updates."
"Auto updating all buyer requirements."

Are those good things.. SOMETIMES....

But they aren't the best thing. 

What actually matters IS NOT the internal processes of your company. What matters it THE experiences you give buyers. That what we should optimize for - how do I have the MOST human buyer experience?

That is the new frontier fam (think of you Sprocketeers).

And buyers are going to increasingly want more human, NOT MORE AI AUTOMATED garbage. 

- Did we respond to the email
- Did we do value touches
- Did we send videos with recaps
- Send value touches ever 7 days
- Send a voicemail in Linkedin

There is REAL value in "removing" admin work. There is a net negative value is removing HUMAN FIRST work. 

How do you put "human in the loop" at the point of pain? Humans will continue to be the competitive advantage (not how much AI you adopt). AI will be and is becoming commoditized. The value chain will end with "how human can you make this feel." 

That's what we are building at Supered (starting at HubSpot). That's the heart. The best human-in-the-loop software. 

What's your plan for putting humans at the point of pain? If you don't have one, I predict you will lose. And lose hard.

Coming back from Clay's EMEA launch last week, got me thinking...

Are low key events a better way to build community?

My experience of launch events has typically been a lot of noise from a stage or a big product reveal

Lots of "look at us" energy and bags of useless swag.

But this one was different.

It was a space for prospects and customers to connect.

Every conversation I joined people were sharing something wild they were building with Clay, or describing something they were hoping to build.

As someone recently using Clay  - It was super enlightening.

So yes, Clay are OFFICIALLY in Europe now, with a new office, a local team and new GDPR tools.

But they’ve been building community here for a while.

And the launch was a testament to the community they’ve built so far, and proof of their commitment to it for the future.
