Celsius tried to compete. And failed.

Then they stopped trying.

They chased 35-year-old women at the gym.

→ No skull graphics.
→ No extreme sports sponsorships.
→ No "UNLEASH THE BEAST" messaging.

Just: "Essential energy. No sugar. No aspartame."

They found a customer everyone else ignored.

2020: $130 million in revenue.
2023: $1.3 billion.
Stock up 4,000% in 5 years.

The lesson most brands miss:

You don't win by fighting for the same customer.
You win by finding the customer nobody's fighting for.

Celsius didn't beat Red Bull.
They made Red Bull irrelevant to their audience.

→ Amazon: Million products → "Recommended"

Will Guidara sat in a hotel bar after the 2010 World's 50 Best Restaurants awards.

More content wasn't the answer.

A single word was.

→ Volvo owns "safety."
→ Google owns "search."
→ FedEx owns "overnight."
→ Nike owns "performance."
→ Coca-Cola owns "happiness."

These aren't taglines.
They're mental monopolies.

And it's not just corporations.

→ Gary Vee owns "hustle."
→ Simon Sinek owns "why."
→ Richard Branson owns "rebel."

Here's what most miss:

You don't claim a word by saying it.
You claim it by living it.

Volvo didn't just say "safety."
They invented the three-point seatbelt.
Then gave the patent away for free.

They looked backward instead of forward.

→ Gap (2010): 
     $100 million spent. Reverted in 6 days.

Each company confused a rebrand with a redesign.

New Coke changed the formula nobody asked them to change.
Tropicana stripped the orange that made them recognizable.
Gap swapped an icon for something forgettable.
Weight Watchers dropped their name for initials with no story to explain why.

Not even Oprah could save that WW ship.

The lesson?

You can't outrun bad press with a new logo.
You can't fix a broken narrative with fresh colors.
You can't rebrand your way out of a relevance problem.

IKEA UAE launched the Phone Sleep Collection.
Miniature beds. Wood slats. Bedding. NFC chips.

Your phone sleeps in the tiny bed.
The app tracks your screen-free time.

Absurd? Absolutely.
Genius? Even more so.

Here's what most brands miss:

IKEA didn't sell mattresses.
They sold behavior.

The product IS the message.
A tiny bed for your phone says more than any ad ever could:
"Your phone needs rest. So do you."

You can't scroll past that insight.
Because it's sitting on your nightstand.

This isn't IKEA's first move in the sleep game either:

Toy logic.
→ The product becomes a collectible. 
→ A conversation piece. 
→ A nightstand artifact.

The lesson?

Don't sell the product.
Solve the behavior.

IKEA made the enemy of sleep (your phone) the hero of the story.

By putting it to bed.

That's differentiation.

Yesterday was International Women's Day.

I spent it at a memorial.

My wife and I said goodbye to our dear friend of 40 years.

If your team can't complete this test,
