I sat down with Jeff Abracen on his Disruptive Influence podcast and we unpacked something most leaders are getting backwards.

AI replaces tasks. 
It doesn't replace people.

But too many CEOs are treating it like the opposite.

→ Cutting the humans who think
→ Keeping the tools that can't
→ Wondering why everything sounds the same

The real threat isn't automation.
It's abandoning differentiation in the name of efficiency.

Tool: Your people think. AI executes.
Crutch: AI thinks. Your people disappear.

One builds a brand with a pulse.
The other builds a commodity.

The companies winning right now?

→ Not the ones with the best tech stack
→ The ones who kept their point of view intact

AI can scale your output.
It can't scale your conviction.

AI can generate content.
It can't generate a reason for customers to care.

The uncomfortable truth:

The same efficiency that speeds you up can erase what made you different.

Your people are the strategy.

Don't confuse the two.

Lukewarm avoids risk.

And guarantees obscurity.

Most brands aim for "acceptable."
The result? They land on forgettable.

The market doesn't reward room temperature.

It rewards freezing cold conviction.
Or burning hot passion.

Lukewarm gets spit out.

The lukewarm playbook:

→ Offend no one
→ Challenge nothing
→ Say what's expected
→ Blend in beautifully

The result?

Safe. Shallow. Invisible.

And when the noise finally freezes 
(when budgets tighten and attention shrinks) 
only the distinct are left standing.

The brands playing it cool (the wrong kind of cool) disappear first.

What survives:

→ A point of view that polarizes
→ A voice that can't be mistaken for anyone else
→ A position worth defending

Not "we're the best."
Not "we're different."

But: "This is what we believe. Take it or leave it."

That's the temperature that wins.

Quick diagnostic:

→ Could a competitor say exactly what you're saying?
→ Does your messaging make anyone uncomfortable?
→ Would your brand survive if the noise stopped tomorrow?

If you hesitated on any of those, you're not cold.
You're not hot.

You're lukewarm.

And lukewarm is the fastest path to irrelevance.

The brands that last don't play for approval.
They play for allegiance.
