As an Account Manager at the world’s leading personal branding agency, I work with founders, execs, and professionals to grow their audience, build credibility, and open doors to new opportunities.

Every company has a story.

Employees’ personal brands tell the real one.

Every company claims to offer: 

✅ Great culture 
✅ Career growth 
✅ Work-life balance 

But let’s face it, that’s not always true. 

So, how can you find out what it’s really like to work somewhere before you commit? 

🌻 Talk to the employees. 
↳ Current and former employees are your best sources of truth. Reach out to them on LinkedIn and ask about the day-to-day reality. Most are happy to share. 

🌻 Pay attention to turnover. 
↳ Are employees leaving within a year or two? High turnover is often a red flag for toxic culture, low pay, or poor leadership. 

🌻 Watch employee behaviour online. 
↳ Do employees publicly praise the company on LinkedIn? Or does it seem like no one has anything good to say? 

Companies will always present the best version of themselves, but the truth lies in what the employees say and how they feel.

What feels like a struggle now...
Will soon become second nature.

This is the part no one prepares you for.

The stage where everything is unfamiliar, progress feels invisible, and nothing you do seems to make a real impact.

When I first stepped into marketing, I didn’t come from a traditional background.

No formal training. No experience to lean on.
Just a job title I felt I had to live up to, and a platform I didn’t fully understand.

I wasn’t sure how to build a personal brand.
I didn’t know what kind of content built trust or brought in real results.
And I had no idea how a single post could lead to a client conversation.

So I treated it as a space to practise.

I studied what made people stop scrolling.
I paid attention to tone, timing, and structure.
I kept writing, posting, and adjusting.

No instant wins. No big audience. Just steady, focused effort.

Eventually, things started to improve for me.

🌻 I learned how to shape brand voices that people actually connect with.
🌻 I understood how to turn content into qualified inbound leads.
🌻 And I’ve helped grow client accounts beyond 100,000 followers.

None of it came from shortcuts.

It came from the early days when I was learning by doing, even when it felt like no one was paying attention.

(and made harder by the fact that AI writing tools were not really around back in 2022)

That’s where the foundation is built.

Not in the results, but in the reps.

I’ve been a personal brand manager for 3 years, working with clients at 7 to 9-figure businesses.

Some of my best work hasn’t sat in my job description.

When I started, my role focused on brand and LinkedIn content.

But after working closely with clients almost every day, you start to see more than just the content side. You get a clearer view of what they’re trying to do, who they’re speaking to, and what actually moves things forward.

If you think content is expensive, try building a brand with no direction.

I’ve seen this happen more times than I can count.

A team says they want to build their brand, they want to grow an audience, and they want to stand out. But the moment it comes to investing in content that actually does that, they freeze.

It’s easy to assume LinkedIn is just about posting a few thoughts and moving on. But when you’re behind the scenes doing the actual work, you realise how much thinking, planning and skill go into a single post.

From shaping the brand voice to building a clear message to writing in a way that people actually want to read, none of it happens by accident. 

And that’s before you even touch design, tone or timing.

So when someone pushes back on the cost or time it takes to do content properly, I get it. But I also know what’s at stake if you don’t.

Because you’re not paying for someone to write words. You’re paying for someone who’s spent years learning what words will actually get a result.

We never question this when it comes to lawyers or coaches or consultants. But when it comes to content and brand, people assume it should just be quick and cheap.

Just because something looks easy doesn’t mean it is.

Keep showing up. Say things that mean something.

It’s not about being the loudest. It’s about being real, helpful, and consistent.
