In summer 2023 I was going nuts. I was trying to organize my team's social selling efforts on Linkedin. It was a mess. So I decided to fix it.

Buffer analyzed 72,000 Linkedin posts.

The finding? Replying to comments boosts your engagement by 30%.

And yet - only 8% of posts actually had reply activity.

I couldn't believe this number.

Everyone's obsessing over the perfect hook. The perfect carousel format. The perfect posting time. We're all trying to crack the algorithm like it's some secret code.

Meanwhile, the simplest thing, just showing up in your own comment section, gets ignored.

I get it... it doesn't feel like "real work." It's not creating content. It doesn't give you that dopamine hit of hitting publish.

So we ghost our own posts. We check the likes, maybe read a few comments, then move on to tomorrow's content.

But you need to understand this: 
Every comment is someone raising their hand. They're saying "I found this interesting enough to engage."

And we're leaving them on read.

The algorithm is literally telling us what it values. Conversation. Back-and-forth. Actual human interaction.

Not more broadcasting. Not better hooks. Just... participation.

83% of accounts in the study saw better performance when they replied to comments. This isn't a niche hack. It's just how the platform works now.

Linkedin wants conversations, not monologues.

So maybe instead of crafting tomorrow's viral post, go reply to the comments on yesterday's post?

The data says it's probably the highest ROI thing you can do.

Linkedin just nuked engagement pods.

That CFO comment? That's gold. That's a buying signal you should act on.

Linkedin is cleaning up the platform. Real signals are about to become visible again.

What to do this week:

✓ Leave any engagement pods you're in

✓ Stop measuring vanity metrics (total likes don't matter)

✓ Start tracking WHO engages (decision-makers from target accounts)

✓ Focus on quality over quantity

Linkedin just dropped an AI feature that finally understands how salespeople actually search for prospects. 

And nobody's talking about what it really means.

You can now type "B2B founders who've raised Series A in the last 6 months" or "RevOps leaders who've implemented account-based strategies" and Linkedin's AI finds exactly who you're looking for.

Most sales teams waste 40% of their time on bad fit prospects. They blast out messages to anyone with the right title, get ignored, and wonder why Linkedin "doesn't work."

But I want to be honest with you: Better search doesn't fix bad outreach.

Finding the perfect prospect and sending them a cold message they ignore is just faster failure. 

You still need engagement. 
You still need timing. 
You still need a reason for them to care.

The sales teams that win in 2025 won't be the ones contacting the most people. 
They'll be the ones contacting the right people at the right time with something actually relevant to say.
