Hold on just a little bit longer…. 

I was getting hammered by credit card debt, loans that escalated. Lost one of my residual incomes, along with getting divorced and money really wasn’t flowing. 

It got out of control, so instead of dialing it back, I went all in.  Hindsight, a lot of us do this when we see no way out.  

I got in a program that made everything worse.  I pulled out.  Talked to people.  

Luckily I’m friends with a handful of CEOs that gave me tremendous advice.  

Opened up.  Turns out a lot of people have similar issues or have run into it. And if you haven’t just thank your lucky stars.

Once I opened up about my money struggles I got a lot of advice. And frankly realized it wasn’t as bad nor as life crippling as I was making it out to be. 

I thought I was buried.  
My brother even came to visit.  Uninvited.  

Wanted me to lay it all out for him.  
So with my tail in between my legs we worked through it. 

It wasn’t fun. It was a lot of “Carolyn why did you need that” “don’t get lip filler that’s so stupid” “don’t spend your money on wellness drips those are BS.  

I know he meant well and it was probably deserved. 

We negotiated the debt down tremendously, and I thought to myself wow I wish I had known I could have done that a long time ago.  

On top of that, my work has exploded.  In an amazing way. I’m so happy, the partnerships I have are incredible.  

I didn’t know it would all work out like this. 
Im glad I didn’t let the darkness consume me. 

Because I held on a little longer and now the sun is shining.  

And money problems go away.  And guess what, credit can be fixed.  

Some of us are making our problems drown us.  And often times we are making something feel like an impossible mountain.  

But it is fixable. I promise. It’s all fixable.

if you are in the darkness, getting to the other side is beautiful.  

And you will have incredible wisdom to share down the road who need to hear about exactly what you have been through.  

Almost everything is solvable.  Remember that.  And open up, stop sitting alone in pain.  So many options.  So much help out there.

I know people who have been in tremendous debt issues. And now have literally perfect credit.  

Y’all don’t give up, you hear?

Life will take you down if you let it. 

I wouldn’t take away the hard times in my life. Because they have made me what I am.  

I’ve failed a lot.  And for that reason I’m not afraid to fail.  Because I trust myself to get back the f up. 

Once you hit rock bottom, you know it’s not that scary. And you learn you can fail, and fail again and fail again and still make it back to the fucking top. 

Real confidence comes from that ability to take a chance, that you might fail. 

And knowing if you do fail… big deal.

I’ve made my share of bad decisions. 
I’ve been at the bottom. 

But I know what it takes to survive now.  And some of you ask me how do I straddle that line? 

How do I work for myself and be a risk taker as some of you have called it. 

I haven’t had the choice.  
I learned how to survive because I didn’t have a choice. 

I needed to make big money and I needed to make it now. 

You have two choices you are faced with at breaking points in your life. 

Do you sink or do you swim? 

The choice is yours.  
It really is that simple.

My Dad gave me a credit card. I remember it well, because he told me to never use it. 

I thought, how stupid to give me something im not allowed to use.  

He said “only use this, if you are in an emergency”.  

So I literally carried this one credit card around forever.  Never used.  

Even when I first got married my ex tried to explain to me “we can buy this couch and look it’s saying 0 interest” which at the time I didn’t understand.” 

I’m like no I don’t want to use the card.  Even if zero interest. 

After he passed away, I used the credit card for the first time.  Then saw some of the benefit of 0 interest, this. Zero interest that. 

Then I explored how in some ways it was obviously good to build your credit. But at the time I didn’t really need it. 

I put a down payment for my Audi that the car salesman even made a comment, how you don’t see people putting down “down payments” like that.  

I was very careful with my money. 
Especially with big purchases. And I waited on that purchase for a long time. 

Anyways, my point is after my dad passed,  I began to use the card.  Which soon turned into cards.  

And now I understand why he told me to never use them. 

The system is absolutely out to get you, especially if you start to run into money problems. It escalates. And quickly.  

My point of telling you this is I wish I had asked for advice.  Especially in a system designed to screw you if you let it. 

Working for someone else where I didn’t have control of high ticket deals was really hurting me. I wasn’t making enough money. 

I joined a debt consolidation program. Not knowing things were about to get a whole lot worse. 

Than I went back to work for myself and in two months, could have paid off all my debt. 

I cancelled the debt enrollment program.  I pulled out because I knew I could pay it off. 

But it was too late. The damage had been done. 

I talked to a friend of mine. Who said why in th world did you join that program for that amount of debt. That isn’t even a lot of debt. 

But to me it was and I let my fear and what ifs, talk me into something very stupid. 

The other day a snake called. 

I’m chat gpting what he is saying and offering me, all to figure out that he literally is trying to get me into another program. This nice man trying to act like he cares, but literally just trying to screw me worse. 

Thanks to chat gpt I suddenly tell him no thank you. I don’t want any help.  

The help is not help.  And I wish someone had told me that. When you deem yourself in a bad spot, ask advice. Don’t let your ego keep you from asking others what you should do. 

Learn from my mistakes. 
And if someone acts like they have the magic answer, they are just a snake in disguise. 

These systems are designed to just break the broken.  

The system will only break you if you let it. 

Just like me you will find your way out. I promise you. 

PS. Can you relate?

Always negotiate.  

I personally don’t agree with that sentiment.  

Always statements will get you into trouble. 

Let’s take me for example, even at 40 and being a Recruiter handling negotiations for my entire career I treat it as an area of risk.  

And im careful.  

Not everything is about money. 

Sometimes you get a project or work in front of you that you are so excited about, that you don’t want to risk the opportunity.  

For example, yesterday I had a final meeting with a dream client of mine.  I wanted this opportunity badly. Probably more than I’ve wanted anything in a long time. 

I’d be helping to expand addiction centers and growing these centers all over.  There is a lot more to it, and the businesses that we will be growing but for now, that is the jist. 

This is something I’m insanely passionate about for a multitude of reasons.  I’ve struggled with my own issues, and I’ve also seen these type of centers, as literally magical places. 

And this type of project would give me life.  

Honestly I was tripping over myself a little. 
Blabbing on.   Sometimes we get so excited and like over eager beavers, when we want something an incredible amount, and that is okay. 

Natural even. I even made a joke that was like, you can tell that I want this obviously.  I’m pumped.  

I don’t play games with these types of opportunities I make it very known when I want something so there is no mistake. 

Honestly the head of HR could have told me to jump, and I would have said how high. Truthfully. 

Maybe it came across a little desperate but I wanted this role.  

I handled the negotiation literally like a conversation. Instead of throwing out this blanket pay, with a take it or leave it attitude, I said something a bit lower.  

I didn’t want to price myself out. 

We went back and forth about where the comfortable number would be. What made sense with the market.  We worked through the number together.  She actually made my number more advantageous than what I threw out. 

It was a natural dialogue. 
When she said the final number I didn’t negotiate. 

Sometimes you don’t want to risk it. 
And I think that’s perfectly fine. And like I said she bumped the number given my work load. 

Know your client. Your industry.  

And remember to get a project that literally gives you life, that’s bigger than the money.

I’m Feeling so blessed to be able to change people’s lives and make an impact. It really feels full circle for me. And entirely meant to be. 

That means way more to me than money ever will. 

PS. Should you always negotiate?

I believe I may be ADD.  

Never been formally diagnosed, but never felt the needed to change. In some ways it's my gift. 

I get overwhelmed when a million things hit me at once. Also my goals with my business overwhelm me. And it gets loud. 

The head game is the biggest game for most of us.  

When I focus, I don't stop. 
Almost to an unhealthy level.  
For example, If I'm deeply focused into something and suddenly I have to stop or walk away. It's really hard for me. 

Good chance I might be late for the next appointment.  

But that manic focus is part of my genius. 

Ever notice how your weakness is often your strengths.  

I want to share one tip that helps me when I'm feeling overwhelmed and can't get started. 

The pomodoro technique-
Set a timer (usually 25 mins)
Focus on one task. 
Take break.
Repeat. 

Brilliant for breaking paralysis. 

This is how I'm getting started this Monday morning.  In increments of 25 mins. 

Overloaded systems don't respond to pressure.  Thy repond to structure. 

PS. What works for you to break through overwhelm?

Executive Assistant needed preferably in Fayetteville- travel experience with pilots specifically (private jets) preferred.  

Junior Transaction Manager for private money lender. Hybrid (location Bethesda) 75-80k

Marketing Coordinator (entry level hybrid Bethesda) 

Business Purpose Loan Underwriter (Hybrid Bethesda)

AI Automation Developer Consultant to Hire  Hybrid Bethesda to spearhead strategic AI automation across multiple platforms.  

Heavy Maintenance Mechanic (location Morris IL) pay 34-48 hourly needs to be local to 50 miles of Morris IL or be willing to move. 

Experience with heavy equipment a must- specialized attention given to those with additional exposure to marine equipment, material handlers, cranes, and tugboats.  

My wish came true- that I’m overwhelmed with hiring. I hope to continue to have a full req load and to drive this market.

Getting hires done before the holidays has always been my kryptonite.  

Here is why you shouldn’t slow down yet:

Hiring Managers are under the wire to get these hires to take place BEFORE the new year. Not after. Then the budget resets. 

Hiring Managers and interviewers are in a good mood. Good moods lead to new opportunities.  

Your competion slows down. 
Meaning it’s easier to be noticeable.  
For me. And for you. 

When everyone slows down, you should speed up. 

I’m in Florida. 
Everyone is on vacation around me. 
But I’m working. What’s new?

Proof that hires need to take place now.  
I’ve made promises to clients who will walk if I dont get hires done.  

Don’t slow down yet.
