Well…that was a busy couple weeks.

Grateful this media work keeps taking me to new places—and even better, I got real time with clients I usually work with remotely every day.

We hosted our first client dinner 🥘, kicked off a collab + giveaway with a boutique hotel (one of those passion-project type partnerships), and somehow pulled it off with the family along for the ride.

Good advice often gets rejected—especially when it’s shared with upper management.

After years of reporting to leaders, I’ve learned that pushback isn’t failure. It’s part of the process.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve said,

“You should post more on social for your business,”
only to hear,
“We’re already growing—we don’t need that.”

Fast forward a few years—and those same leaders are posting weekly, if not daily.

Same thing with product ideas:
“We should add this to make it easier for users to find us or unlock growth.”
Response:
“Not a priority. Won’t move the needle.”

Then one day, a feature drops…doing exactly that.

And it’s not just me. I hear this from marketing leaders all the time.
Two things move ideas forward faster:

Buy-in — earning trust with the decision-maker
A plan — clearly showing how it gets done and why it matters

Most decision-makers don’t see the full depth of the work—you do. That’s why showing the thinking, the path, and the outcome matters.

So don’t get discouraged when your idea gets shot down.
Often it’s not a “no”—it’s a signal that buy-in or a clearer plan needs to come first.

Advice is easy to give.
Change takes alignment.

Over Christmas my wife got me an xbox...I know to be young again. 

I was surprised actually. I really treasure my time and this feels like a waste but wait... 

Could I replace my online shopping (stuff I don't need), scrolling, etc. 

But it's also been a great lesson in staying up to date with tech as a marketer. Microsoft Xbox Series X has really put time and effort into their interface and come a long way. 

They now market new items, platforms, and brands like never before. And guilty pleasure is jumping on Fortnite with a couple friends around the country to decompress. What is fun is they are business owners as well which makes the time both req. and decompress to chat about our work. 

And some sauce for brands out there trying to market new brands—look into Fortnite. They feature brands and groups like Stranger Things, Kill Bill, and many more trends. Getting your product into their shop could really be a driver of organic attention—if you have the budget. 

All in all—finding spaces for downtime, keeping your mind busy, and researching trends is one way in 2026 I'll improve my overall engagement with physical tech. 

Also—don't get me started on Samsung Electronics commercial screen savers that now appear when you pause the TV...
