Flying solo with piles of video gear used to feel intimidating — not anymore. I’ve been lugging cameras and lighting around for two decades, but when it’s work, it hits different.

Agency life changes you.

A year ago, I would’ve panicked at a client cutting their retainer.

Today? I see it as part of the game.

MRR has plateaued a bit while projects keep rolling in—great for cash flow, not so great for scale. 

And this week, one of our highest-paying clients trimmed their spend. Not because of performance—but market shifts.

I didn’t take it personally. I saw it coming and started adjusting months ago.

That’s why growing recurring revenue has been my main focus for Chasing Creative.

In the early days, a handful of loyal clients helped us launch. We’re in a solid place now, but I know we’re just scratching the surface.

Next phase?

What does it mean to be a Christian in the marketplace?

It’s a question I’ve been reflecting on since attending the Chick-fil-A sharing last Monday with some friends.

A business is not a church - it’s not a place for worship. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be run on biblical principles.

What struck me was this: Nothing stops us from building a company that holds love as its core ingredient - even as we pursue excellence, accountability, and results.

I’m on this journey of scaling a business that I believe God has called me to - a form of workplace ministry. What that fully means, I’m still discovering.

But I do know this — we can be His testimony through our actions, not just our words.

May God grant us strength and wisdom to lead well, love deeply, and serve faithfully through our work.

When “Booked Out” Became the Problem

Jane Tan started a home-baking business more than 12 years ago, making custom celebration cakes when that trend was just taking off.

Within months, she was booked out for an entire year.
