I’ve never really talked about this before but

The summer of 2019 I was *this* close to going back to school to become a Physician’s Assistant & working in women’s health. 

Wild to think back on. 

I got all my transcripts sent. Finished the apps, paid the fees & had gotten accepted into a post-bacc program.

Except when I went to register for the fall semester, the *one* biology class I needed to start the series of my pre-reqs was full & I couldn’t get in.

I thought ok, I’ll wait until next semester & start a blog in the meantime.

Well, we all know what happened in 2020 & while waiting to get into that class & for the world to open back up, my blog ended up taking off. 

Years later I came back to the idea & debated going to school to be a therapist.

My therapist friends talked me out of that too.

All to say…. 

Our mental, physical & emotional health REALLY interests me.

We are such complex, intricate beings & there is always more to discover if we’re just curious enough. 

& now that I work in ‘marketing’ (hah big diversion) I can really see how much the whole person is neglected in this space.

How much of ourselves actually goes into showing up to market online.

Creating & posting content. 

Getting visible.

Telling our stories.

If you’re a solo founder you:

Are the service.
Are the brand.
Your story is what people are attracted to.

So after working 1:1 w/ 120+ founders, teaching over 500 people thru programs & workshops, & now running a community of 85 women, I see the same pattern over + over:

The fear of showing up & being visible online for your business isn't a marketing problem. 

It's a nervous system one.

And a lot of “Personal Branding” advice gets it wrong.

"Put yourself out there. Say the edgy thing. Just post it. Be consistent."

It completely ignores what happens in your body when you think about being seen.

Don’t pressure yourself to show up daily on LinkedIn. 

Unlike IG or TikTok, LinkedIn doesn’t need you to be posting multiple times a day - or have a constant stream of content all the time.

Posting 2-3 times a week is more than enough.

And get this: to be eligible as a “LinkedIn Top Voice”, the platform only requires you 1x per month.

One post, per month - wild. 

So if that doesn’t signal that the platform wants quality or over quantity, I don’t know what does.

Of course you’re certainly welcome to post daily if that’s your thing-

But again, content on here lasts way longer so you don’t need to be constantly churning it out. 

(you’re probably, as we speak, seeing 2-3 week old posts on your feed case in point)

Quality beats quantity.

And 3 strong posts will outperform 5 rushed “just posting to post” ones any day.

Because when you’re building genuine, authentic relationships on a platform like LinkedIn.

Even on days you’re not posting you’re still getting:

- Tagged in industry discussions
- Mentioned in other people’s content
- Your old posts being sent around & your profile being shared 

So let your community & audience carry you on days you don’t have the space to be on here.

And give yourself permission to truly focus on whatever it is that matters most to you:

- Your clients
- Finding new opportunities
- Time with your kids & family 

Because if showing up on here is not sustainable you won’t keep at it long term. 

(and being glued to LinkedIn doesn’t send the best message anyway).

Hope that helps LinkedIn feel more manageable as we head into the busiest season of the year.

If you need / like / want instant gratification in your life you should stay far, far away from a platform like LinkedIn.

Posting & creating content on here can be one of the most humbling experiences you’ll ever have.

I was scrolling LinkedIn early this morning and saw a post from a past client who hired me back in May 2024.

A huge industry leader.
Smartest in the room.
Runs an 8-figure agency.

And I was genuinely beaming....because she’s totally found her stride on here now. 

Her content has sharp perspective.

She’s positioned as such an industry expert. 

You can feel her real personality.

Her posts are consistent (and visible) in their reach.

She’s writing a well-respected, in-depth newsletter that I can tell LinkedIn is feeding.

And I also remember exactly where she started 17 months ago:

Overwhelmed.
Fumbling.
Experimenting.

Trying to find her voice and her angle, figuring out how to fit LinkedIn in and how to keep it going.

But she did…she kept going.

And now she gets to receive the visibility, thought leadership, and trust she was after all along.

Here’s why this platform can feel excruciatingly slow: 

1. First-day metrics are useless.
You really do have to post something and walk away because it can take days, sometimes weeks, to even start to pick up steam. So that dopamine hit from publishing and immediately watching the reactions roll in? You have to accept that’s not a thing on here.

2. Posts are still being discovered 2–3 weeks later.
Which means your “results” (DMs, leads, signups) are very delayed. Case in point I launched a community and people found out about it a month later… after it had already closed.

3. Your best content will probably feel like it flopped
You’ll forget what you even said by the time someone finally messages you about it.

So yes, it’s hard.

Posting into the void is brutal.

Especially when you’re still unknown, untagged, and under the radar.

But it really is the cost of entry to building something that lasts.

And it pains me to know how many people quit too early…simply because LinkedIn moves so slow.

The ones who get to see all the rewards aren’t the loudest.

They’re simply the ones who stuck around long enough and kept trying, so the platform could do its thing, in its own time.

If you’re in that frustrating middle spot, I really do get it.

And….I hope you keep at it.

How to not ghost LinkedIn when life gets crazy

You’ve heard me say it all year:

LinkedIn is already a lot to keep up with on a normal week

Holidays, travel, last-min client pushes… it becomes the 1st thing you drop off

It's important to know your capacity as a biz owner

But watching momentum you’ve worked hard for slip away feels awful

So when life gets crazy (& it will), you have more options than “show up perfectly” or “ghost completely”

It’s not either-or

Whether it’s holidays or a huge growth spurt, it's a skill to know how to still keep your business visible

Here's my best advice:

1. Ring the bell for people you don’t want to miss
Pick 5–10 relationships that feel high priority. Ring the bell on their LinkedIn profile & you’ll get a push notification when they post. Leave a comment when you login & move on

2. Decide your “minimum viable week”
Maybe it’s 1 post, replying to DM’s only, no engagement until Friday
A MVW keeps momentum alive

3. Log on intentionally
When you open LinkedIn have a plan for what you’re doing
10 mins of focus beats 60 of scattered energy

4. Schedule content
Use LinkedIn’s built-in scheduler. Ignore debates about reach
Something posted is better than nothing posted

5. Pull from your repurpose bank
Reusing old content & not having to constantly write saved me every year
Your audience didn’t see it the 1st or 2nd time
It deserves another life

6. Post less polished content
Still effective, honestly, often more so

7. Set an away message for your LinkedIn DMs if needed
With premium you can set this up
Something like: “Responses may be delayed…here’s my services in the meantime”

8. Trust that your past content is still working for you
Old posts travel
People reshare, save & send things behind the scenes.
Your relationships & community will carry you when you can’t be as present 

9. Lean on templates
Structure reduces stress
You’re not above using something that helps you get a post out quickly

You accepted each other’s LinkedIn connection request. Now what happens?

After you both say “nice to meet you”, then what...

I was at a training at LinkedIn HQ last year where they shared a stat I still think about:

Just 1% of people you’re connected w/ are ready for whatever you’re selling / doing right now

That means 99% of connections need nurturing & time to develop into something

& I’m sure you don’t love newly connecting w/ someone & immediately being pitched, invited to something etc

But also no one teaches you how to ‘nurture’ a LinkedIn connection so I’ll share my best practices

Whether:

- You’re in a shared community & just added each other on LinkedIn 
- You came across their profile & it seems like there could be an opportunity to collab in the future 
- They’re a dream client

What actually happens after that 1st DM? 
To go from connection → opportunity?
Connection → client?

Here’s how I think about it:

If they’re a peer / fellow business owner -

1. Engage w/ their content
If they’re posting, leave a comment a couple times a month (or more). You know how much effort it takes to consistently create. Genuine support matters, people notice & remember it

2. Find a way to keep them top of mind
Ring their profile bell. Add them to a Notion list. Create a Sales Nav list “2025 valuable connections”.  Whatever helps you remember to stay in touch

3. Pay attention to what they’re working toward
Are they trying to get on podcasts? Speak more? Join specific communities? When you *genuinely* come across a worthwhile opportunity for them, send things their way when relevant, no strings attached

This requires that you:

→ be active & involved in spaces & communities yourself
→ have your connections in mind when you’re showing up places 

4. Invite them to things
Do not overdo this. When something *quality* comes up that you yourself want to take advantage of, share that with them too

5. If you’ve been quiet, re-engage
If there was someone you met a few months ago, enjoyed the convo, but lost touch, scroll back through their content, see what they’re up, and send a note to say hi again or give a compliment

If they’re a lead or future potential client:

→ Honestly, do all of the above ^

Plus:

Let your content do the heavy lifting

If you’re posting strong content, that is inherently nurturing the relationship & building trust. Good content will speed alllll of this up btw, they'll WANT to be more closely connected to you because you're good at what you do & have interesting thoughts

“I don’t want to be annoying.”
“I don’t want my audience to get sick of me.”
“If I keep posting, won’t people get irritated?”

I hear some version of this every single week ^^^

But here’s the good news / bad news about posting on LinkedIn:

Only about 5% of your audience will ever see your content at a time.

If that.

(and apparently even less if you’re a woman right now. yes, I’m tracking the male vs. female reach phenomenon. this isn’t news to me and literally why I built an entire business around supporting women on this platform - I’ve been saying this for years)

So I can assure you, you’re not "annoying" anyone.

In fact, most of your audience hasn't even seen your last post.

But that’s also the good news.

It means you can take the pressure off trying to make every post “perfect.”

Because one post isn’t going to make or break your business.

It’s your "LinkedIn body of work” the accumulation of dozens (and eventually hundreds) of posts and small touch points that will.

There is no single action you can take, or have to get right, that will suddenly change everything.

It’s the consistent combination of:

1. Posting content
2. Building relationships (introducing yourself in DMs)
3. Nurturing those relationships through comments and conversations

That’s what compounds, builds trust, and gets business.

Small actions stack.

So the next time you sit down to write a post… invitation to be a little kinder to yourself and take some pressure off.

It’s all adding up even if it doesn’t look like it yet.

I’m going to be honest, for years I completely swore off trying to “figure out the LinkedIn algorithm.”

All those marketers dropping intricate “state of the algorithm” reports drove me absolutely nuts.

Because I’ve *literally* been to LinkedIn headquarters at the Empire State Building here in NYC and had to sign like 4 NDAs before I was even allowed to step foot in the building.

So anytime someone claimed they “knew the secrets”...I immediately called BS. 

LinkedIn keeps that stuff on *serious* lockdown.

Also I’ve had plenty of content break all the supposed “platform norms.”

For example I was traveling to LA on a Thursday night, completely forgot I had a post scheduled for Friday morning. I woke up in PST, opened LinkedIn… and the post was going wildly viral. So insanely viral I couldn’t believe my eyes.

On a Friday. With zero "warm-up". No "pre or post" comments. No “engagement strategy.” Nothing.

That’s happened more than once btw the posts I forget about often outperform the ones I carefully optimize.

(There’s a lesson in there ^^^)

So yeah, I think a lot of time gets wasted trying to "hack the system".

1. Overanalyzing “dwell time”.
2. Obsessing over perfect post timing.
3. Stressing over which scheduling tool you can or can’t use.

When that time could actually be spent on things that make you a better content creator or relationship builder: 

1. Talking to your customers
2. Getting better inputs to create better, more valuable posts 
3. Building real relationships with people who are also active on here 

You know, actual business-building activities.

Not reverse engineering the dark arts of big tech.

BUT…I've changed my stance a bit. 

This year, after being on the platform full time for nearly 5 years now, editing + analyzing thousands of posts, looking at analytics across hundreds of accounts daily + weekly, I started noticing patterns.

Then I sat down with some marketers I respect & trust in this space who gave me the actual language for what I was seeing.

And honestly, it all made so much more sense.

I realized there’s way more leverage and way more control than most people think about LinkedIn once you understand how the system operates.

Depending on how many months you’ve been active on LinkedIn, your daily & weekly actions should look different

One of the biggest frustrations I see is business owners trying to do everything at once:

Strategies that won’t work given how long they’ve been showing up

The constant question of What am I supposed to be doing on here?

& uncertainty around what the next 6–12 mos of growth actually look like

There’s so much advice out there but I can only share what’s helped my clients generate over $2M directly from LinkedIn

So here’s are the daily & weekly actions I recommend depending on your stage of LinkedIn:

1. 0–6 mos

You’re building the muscle

• Plan + write thoughtful content
• Post 2–3x per week
• Comment 20–30 mins, 2–3x per week
• Send connection requests to people you naturally meet
• Stay active in off-LinkedIn communities

This is plenty

Don’t add anything else right now

Most people try to do too much & burn out before month 3

2. 6–9 mos

You can begin layering in more strategy

Keep doing everything ^ and

• Create a practice to review your data + identify what can be repurposed
• Consider adding long-form content 2 articles per month
• Launch a newsletter off LinkedIn
• Begin warm outbound followers, viewers, engagers
• Be more intentional w/ who you build relationships w/

If you can continue posting consistently, track your data & do proactive outreach, you’re ready to graduate

3. 1 yr

Now you add leverage

• Cold outreach & Sales Nav system
• Repurposing engine to reduce creation time
• More strategic relationship building
• Partnerships, collabs & aligning w/ other communities + orgs
• Time + space to pitch, nurture, follow up

This is when growth shifts from effort to strategy

4. 1 yr+

Continue everything ^ & if you’ve been consistent, opportunities should now start coming to you


Is this an exact science? 

No

Can you do some of these earlier? 

Of course

But LinkedIn works best in stages

If '26 is the year you want to stay consistent long enough to reach the stage where partnerships, collabs & actually effective outreach become available 

You need a system that gets you to months 6, 9 & beyond

& if you’re at year 1+ but haven’t been able to leverage your longevity meaning content is still taking too long, outreach feels scattered, or you’re not seeing the traction you expected it's a sign you’re missing systems that make yr 2 & beyond actually work

If this hasn’t happened to you yet as a business owner, I promise it will.

I don’t think anyone is truly immune.

Because at some point & it’s not a matter of if, but when

You will get bored of your own content.

You create a strategy.
 It works.
 It gets traction.
 It starts delivering results.

And then… it starts to feel monotonous.
 Predictable.
 Stale.

So you get bored & want to change the entire formula.

Suddenly you’re reinventing everything: rewriting your messaging, switching platforms, chasing the next shiny idea… & unintentionally putting yourself back at 0

After having at least 1 of these convos every week, I’ve started preemptively telling founders 

You will (& honestly, should) get bored of your own content.

Your content isn’t meant for you.
 It’s meant for the version of your client who is 10–20 steps behind you.

You’ve already transformed beyond the thing you’re teaching bc you lived it.
 Your audience hasn’t.

That’s the point.
 You are not your client.

But here’s the pattern I see:

Boredom → new idea → new strategy → momentum drop → starting from scratch.

So if you’re here or you can already feel this coming here are a few things that help:

1. Expect boredom. Nothing is wrong with you.
 It doesn’t mean your strategy stopped working.
 It means you’re evolving.

2. Use a 3:1 weekly ratio.
 Three posts for your clients.
 One post for you, creative, personal, fun. Don’t suffocate your own voice.

3. Have a separate creative outlet.
 A journal, a blog, a Substack that isn’t for teaching or selling.
 Give those parts of you somewhere to go.

4. Repurpose & reuse.
 If the thought of writing something new makes you want to stab your eyes out…
 It’s a repurposing week.

This is where most founders unknowingly sabotage their growth:

They don’t have a system to reuse content… so boredom turns into burnout…
 then burnout turns into disappearing for weeks or months…
 and all their traction evaporates.

You don’t lose momentum because your content is boring.
 You lose momentum because you don’t have a system to stay consistent when it feels boring to you.

At the end of the summer, I encouraged one of my clients to do something uncomfortable

We’d started working together in January, and by May/June she had really hit a stride

On a slow month she was getting 5–6 new clients from LinkedIn

On a high month 20–25

When LinkedIn works, it really works

(she also reallyyyy put in the time & effort)

But by August, the familiar LinkedIn plateau had started to set in

8 months of very thoughtful content creation

Back-to-school craziness was about to set in

Being the CEO of a business while running her own LinkedIn account (founder-led accounts always do the best in my experience) 

LinkedIn stopped feeling as exciting

So I told her: “it’s really time to start re-using your best posts”

& she agreed to be an early tester of the repurposing system I was building

Together we identified a set of evergreen posts that absolutely deserved a 2nd life

But it felt a bit awkward, she had poured so much time into her original content that reposting felt…wrong

The idea of just re-using the same exact post a 2nd time felt like a bit too much of a shortcut

But she was in a busy season & trusted the strategy enough to try

What happened next shocked us both: 

Not only did 1 of her strongest posts go viral again

It actually performed 2x as well as the original

Same idea

Slightly tighter intro

Double the reach & visibility as before

Before you roll your eyes I know viral is not the point

But she now had 1,000's of new people discovering her brand & services heading into Q4…to now nurture thru the rest of the year

& several high-traction posts followed right behind it because momentum was back

w/ way less effort

If you’ve been posting consistently for 6–12 mos or more, I can guarantee you are sitting on content that is due to be re-used

But most founders have no repeatable system for knowing:

1. what deserves a 2nd life
2. when to reuse it
3. how to improve it on the next go
4. how to track & time their content cycles

So they keep creating new posts every wee when they don’t actually need to

When they’ve already put in the hard work on the front end

You do not need viral content to repurpose

Some of your average, steady, evergreen posts are the ones most ready for a 2nd life

& your best ideas deserve more than 1 chance to work for you

How growth (and consistent business) really happens on LinkedIn

(you might not love me for this but after coaching 150+ founders 1:1, reviewing all their data, training 500+ more, building + scaling 2 businesses thru LinkedIn this is the formula)

1. Decide LinkedIn is a worthwhile platform for your business
If you’re a professional services biz it’s a no brainer. If you’re a product/lifestyle brand, you need a more creative approach

2. Rip the bandaid off + start posting 2–3x per week

3. Keep posting at that cadence for 6-9 mos
Most people unfortunately give up right here ^

4. Start reviewing + collecting your data
This requires space in your schedule & a system

5. Use that data wisely while improving your own writing skills + messaging

6. Actually execute the insights
Reiterate content based on what’s working + stop reinventing the wheel every week. Free up time by building a repurposing system so you can focus on higher-leverage LinkedIn activities (partnerships, collabs, scaling an outbound system)

7. With more data refine even further
Many founders resist this stage bc their engagement shifts + they’re unsure how to balance depth w/ growth content
But this leads to real traction

And staying on the platform long enough to experience its actual lead quality is:

Understanding how growth works

& knowing the pitfalls to avoid in each stage

Most people make LinkedIn harder than it needs to be

Put simply:

Know what works
Do more of it

But most founders aren’t slowing down enough to:

1. Notice what’s working
2. Know what counts as working
3. Hold themselves accountable to doing more of it
(Create a system)

After watching this cycle play out 100s of times & seeing brilliant founders get stuck in the same traps despite their best intentions I finally decided to do something about it
