Haiku is a 2024 winner of the DARPA Tools Competition in the "Building an Advanced and Competitive Workforce" track, one of six winners selected from over 250 applicants.  Haiku is backed by Kelly Ventures and The Veteran Fund.

Haiku is the leader in gamified learning platforms (according to ChatGPT!) and has built a worldwide audience for our games encompassing consumers, businesses, government and educational institutions.  We worked with organizations such as Carnegie Mellon University to integrate learning engineering into our platform, creating a unique learning experience that can't be replicated through traditional learning, cyber ranges, or classic cybersecurity video games.

Haiku's patented platform allows the creation of 'Digital Twins' of computer networks in the Unity game engine to create game-based training, model and simulate cyber attacks, and use AI to determine the most effective cyber defenses. Haiku is used by businesses, government agencies, K-12 schools, homeschoolers, and higher education institutions around the world.  We are the most effective way to teach students career cybersecurity skills at a young age due to our unique game-based immersion format. Saved In America is a non-profit that helps rescue and rehabilitate trafficked children.  Saved in America has rescued over 200 children at zero cost to the families over 3 years.  They employ former SEALs and Law Enforcement officers to work with local law enforcement to track down, rescue, and return children to their families.

Founder and CEO. Built Sentek to become the largest small defense contractor in its region.  Sold Sentek to Deloitte in July 2021.

As CEO, I built Sentek's business development team from scratch into a team that secured contracts exceeding $150M.  I also developed a comprehensive customer lifecycle management strategy that focused on continually adding value to our customers by leveraging innovation to help them achieve their mission more effectively. 

Sentek is a leader in Cyber Security and Technology Solutions for government and commercial clients.  Sentek has both broad and deep experience and qualifications in C4ISR and Information Assurance.  In the commercial Information Security arena we provide a variety of services leveraging over a decade of security military information systems. We provide engineering and program management support to government and commercial customers around the world.

With over 20 years of experience as a serial entrepreneur and investor in the cybersecurity and technology sectors, I have founded and led multiple successful startups, such as Sentek Global, a leading provider of government and commercial cybersecurity solutions, and the San Diego Cyber Center of Excellence, a nonprofit organization that fosters the growth and development of the cybersecurity ecosystem in the region.

I leverage my diverse background and expertise in gaming, cybersecurity, business development, public speaking, government contracting, and military special operations to build and scale high-performance teams, create value from ideas, and solve complex problems. As a former SEAL officer in the U.S. Navy, I have a strong sense of mission, leadership, and resilience, and I aim to inspire and empower others to achieve their full potential. I am also an active member of the board of directors and advisor to several organizations that support law enforcement, military veterans, and education, such as the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation, the Veteran Fund, and Saved In America.

Another great battlefield to boardroom insight from Joshua Gunderson.

After every flight, there was a moment we all learned to respect: the debrief.

The jet would be silent, the adrenaline gone, and the truth began. With no ranks or filters.
Every pilot, from the newest to the most seasoned, laid their decisions on the table for everyone to dissect.

We’d replay the mission second by second: radio calls, maneuvers, intercept decisions, split-second decisions.
It wasn't about blame, but about accountability, precision, growth...

That room built a kind of honesty that’s rare. You didn’t hide mistakes, you owned them. You learned that real confidence comes from knowing exactly where you fell short and deciding to fix it.

I carried that habit into everything I’ve done since. Because when you stop debriefing yourself, you stop improving. And when you stop improving, you stop leading.

The best leaders I’ve known weren’t the loudest or the one's who always had an answer. They were the ones who never stopped learning, even when everyone around them thought they had it all figured out.

Confidence gets you airborne. Self critique keeps you sharp.
And when both work together, that’s when you lead with true clarity under pressure.
