The best advice Tom Hanks ever got was on a film set.

But, it’s applicable to everyone in every aspect of life.

Here’s what it is:

1. Show up on time
2. Know the text
3. Have an idea

That's it.

 > Show up on time - that’s 5 minutes early BTW.
 > Know the text - which means know what’s going on.
 > Have an idea - bring some additional value.

Those things are ALL in your control.
They are YOUR job.

Do those things and you’ll leap ahead of most.

AI now knows exactly where you took it.

No GPS tags and no metadata, just the pixels.
GeoSpy got so accurate they had to shut down public access.

• That holiday snap you posted?
   ◦  Location identified.
• That "working from home" selfie?
   ◦  Not at home. Busted.
• That client's confidential facility?
   ◦  Coordinates exposed.

They restricted it to law enforcement and enterprise.
I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or even worse…

It makes you think about where we’re headed from a privacy perspective.

This is probably the best AI made content I’ve seen.

And if you just stumbled across it you wouldn’t have known.

The discussion around whether we will watch AI content isn’t really about the tech.

We will absolutely watch AI content and if it’s well made we’ll enjoy it.

It will sit alongside content that didn’t use it, and content that used some of it.

AI can generate voices.
But it needs help to tap into vulnerability.
AI can create content.
But it needs guidance to create connection.

The scariest part isn't replacing creators.
It's creators forgetting why they create.

When everyone can make films,
not everyone will make films that matter.

Tools don't create meaning,
humans do.

Your move isn't learning every AI tool.
Your move is remembering what they're for.

Ray Dalio calls your 40s "the tightest point in the arc of life."

He's right. But he's missing the best part.

Pressure creates diamonds.
It also creates clarity.

Your 40s squeeze you between:
• Aging parents and growing kids
• Rising costs and limited time
• Career demands and personal needs

But here's what that pressure actually does:

𝗜𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆.
You stop doing things that don't matter.
Because you literally can't.

𝗜𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗲.
Every day requires triage.
You become surgical with your yes.

𝗜𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀.
When you can't do everything,
you discover what actually matters.

I've watched quite a few navigate this decade, and now I’m in the middle of it.

The ones who thrive don't avoid the squeeze.
They use it.

Your 30s, you collected obligations.
Your 40s, you curate them.

Your 30s, you said yes to prove yourself.
Your 40s, you say no to preserve yourself.

Your 30s, you chased everything.
Your 40s, you choose something.

The squeeze isn't breaking you.
It's editing you.

Removing what's unnecessary.
Strengthening what remains.
Revealing who you actually are.

This happened at Liuyang, Hunan, famously known as the "Home of Fireworks"

Said the man running the most valuable company in the world.

Aka, Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia.

He cleaned dishes and toilets on his way up.

I love this approach, partially because I also cleaned toilets when I was 17 to buy my first car, but also because I think you need to be able to do two things as a leader.

1. Be in the clouds - Create a vision and relentlessly communicate it
2. Get into the weeds - Work with teams on the details & deliverables

At times this means rolling up your sleeves up, doing tasks and getting involved.

It also gives you a proper understanding and respect for each role.

The kind that comes from knowing:
• How hard the work actually is
• What breaks when it's not done
• Who suffers when it's ignored

Humility isn't just about being nice to your team.
It's knowing how each person keeps your team running.

Authority isn't about your title.
It's about understanding the entire operation.

That doesn’t mean he, or you, should do every task.
Of course, you’ve got to figure out which ones are worth doing and where you get maximum value.

But I think having a mindset that no task is beneath you is super valuable.
And it rubs off on others, you lead in a different way when you adopt this mindset.

That's definitely Huang's edge as a CEO.

Because you can’t really describe what makes someone a star.

It’s not just looks, it’s something more intangible that’s hard to detect.

This encapsulates AI right now, to get great outputs you need human insight, taste and direction.

Maybe one day it will change, but for now the tools need to be in the right hands.
