For 14 years, no one knew my name.
I built my businesses in total obscurity.
No LinkedIn. No Youtube. No newsletter.

I created my live music agency, Findaband, in 2008.
Next came Auckland Weddings in 2012.
That led to New Zealand Venues in 2019.

Over time, I learned sales, ads, SEO, copywriting, conversion optimization, website design and more.

I built deep expertise that founders would pay for.

That could have led to something bigger:
I could have built a consulting business.
I could have guested on industry podcasts.

But none of that happened, because I never shared a single word.

No one knew who I was.

So I stayed in the shadows. 
I remained a ghost, for 14 years.

I know what could have happened, because since then, a lot of things have happened.

I began writing on LinkedIn in 2022.
I shared my expertise as a creative founder.
All my painful lessons and hardwon experience.
What I was working on now, and what I was wrestling with.

I did all of this imperfectly, and haphazardly.
I did it with zero social media experience.
At times, I would go weeks without posting.
I made a lot of mistakes, but I kept showing up.

Over time, I built momentum, and wonderful things started to happen:

I connected with talented founders around the world.

My writing reached millions.

I grew past 100,000 followers.

I spoke on stage at The Do Lectures in Europe.

I appeared on The Futur with Chris Do, someone I’ve admired for years.

I built a multiple six-figure consulting business helping creative founders build their personal brands.

Today I run a LinkedIn community for creative founders.
I’m launching a podcast.
I’m building a new SaaS company.

“I’m charging $50 a month” ❌

Please don't make this mistake ⬇️

Recently, I spoke with a fitness entrepreneur who wants to build a profitable personal brand on LinkedIn.

He has all the ingredients for success:

- Highly qualified
- Experience at the highest level
- A solid content strategy for LinkedIn
- Top, middle and bottom of funnel content
- An initial revenue goal of $5k/m

So far, so good.

But he’d made a critical error - one that I see many new entrepreneurs make.

He was planning on offering group coaching for $50 a month.


Here’s his thinking:
- $50/m is affordable
- He’s still figuring out his offer
- His audience is too small to make real money
- People won’t expect perfection for such a low price


And here's the reality:
❌ He’ll need 100 people to sign up to make $5,000/m
❌ $50/m will attract annoying, high maintenance clients
❌ $50/m will repel high quality clients


Here’s what I recommended he does instead:
✅ Charge $1000/m
✅ Sign 5 clients
✅ Go above and beyond for them
✅ Give them overwhelming value
✅ Create 5 case studies
✅ Share them as client success posts
✅ Increase the price

I am someone who invests in coaches.
I would never work with someone who charges $50/m.

Good clients want to pay you properly.
They know that you get what you pay for.
And they know real coaching costs real money.

The fitness entrepreneur can either:

❌ Convert 100 people (and build an "always on" business that completely takes over his life)

✅ Convert 5 people (and build a peaceful business that gives him the lifestyle he wants)

Whether you’re at 2000 followers or 20,000, keep this in mind as you build your business.

If you charge real money, you can deliver real value.

You can give your energy and attention to a small number of committed clients, and unlock real results for them.

This works whether your goal is $5000 or $50k.

Goal: $5k per month
100 clients @ $50/m = $5000
5 clients @ $1000/m = $5000
2 clients @ $2500/m = $5000
1 client @ $5000/m = $5000


Goal: $50k per month
100 clients @ $500/m = $50,000
50 clients @ $1000/m = $50,000
20 clients @ $2500/m = $50,000

So how can you ensure every call is a successful call?

Today, I’m going to share my 7 step call conversion process.

Following these steps has allowed me to convert 80% of my booked calls into clients.

1 - Build Rapport
2 - The Pain Point
3 - The Solution
4 - Give Value
5 - Present The Offer
6 - Post Call Email
7 - Follow Up

1 - Build Rapport
Start the call with friendly small talk. 
Before we talk business, we just talk.

2 - The Problem
Get the prospect to share their problem.
Find out how it has impacted them.

3 - The Solution
Now show them how you can help them.
Highlight how this will change their life for the better.

4 - Give Value
Don’t hold back. 
Give them value as if they’d already paid you. 
There’s no better way to showcase what they’ll get.

5 - Present The Offer
Ask if you can share what working together looks like.
Put the power in their hands.

6 - Post Call Email
After the call, send a summary email.
Provide notes on what you’ve been discussing.
Include a bullet point summary of the offer.

7 - Follow Up
Follow up every few days.
I follow up 4-5 times.
Most people will take a few emails to convert into clients.

4000 pushups in 12 weeks.

Here's the story.

12 weeks ago, I came across Max, a Youtuber who teaches people how to build strength and cardio fitness with a single exercise.

Four times a week, you do as many burpees as you can in 20 minutes.

The simplicity of these workouts appealed to me:

- You can do it without leaving home
- It only takes 20 minutes
- It builds cardio fitness
- It builds your strength
- There’s no risk of injury
- You level up gradually


Max also has a podcast where he interviews clients who have worked with him 1:1. They go from unfit and out of shape to bursting with energy, and in the best shape of their lives.

Some are dads. 
Some are granddads. 
They’re in their 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s.


So, 12 weeks ago, I got started.
And the truth is, I’ve started lots of things like this.
It’s easy at the beginning.

The workouts are hard, but my motivation is high.
I show up 100% of the time. 
I get it done.


And then 6 weeks go by.
I start to slip.
I start missing sessions.
I come up with reasons why I shouldn’t do the work.

Maybe I’m tired because I didn’t get enough sleep.
Maybe I’m too busy with work
It’s ok because it’s just one week.

One missed week quickly becomes two.
Pretty soon I’ve stopped altogether.


But not this time.
This time, I kept showing up.
Week after week after week.
Session after session.

It all came down to one small change:
The power of accountability.

I posted on a public forum that I was committed to doing the workouts for a full year, and sharing my experience.

And that changed everything.


Today marks 3 months, and 4000 pushups, since I made that commitment.

I’ve shown up every week.
No personal trainer.
No special equipment.
Just me, the floor, and 20 minutes in hell.

Full disclosure:
It hasn’t been 12 perfect weeks.
I don’t always hit 4 workouts.
Some weeks I do 3.
Twice, I’ve only done 2.

But whatever I do, it gets logged publicly.
Whatever I don’t do, that gets logged too.

And when I do mess up, I’m motivated to get back on top of things.

I’m accountable.

People will know if I’m doing the work or slacking off.


This simple workout has changed my life:

- My strength is way up
- I have energy all day long
- My postured has improved
- I’ve lost fat and gained muscle
- I’m getting better quality sleep
- My cardio health is better than it’s ever been

You can apply this to anything, and force yourself to do things that you want to do, but won't do, because you're lazy.

It works like a charm.

Maybe it’s starting your podcast.
Maybe it's launching your course
Maybe it’s posting 30 times in 30 days.
Maybe it’s launching your new website.

Once you make it public, you make it real.

You go from:
“I should probably do that"

to:
“I HAVE to do that.”
