Conventional LinkedIn wisdom would tell you that my customer journey went something like this:

1 - Jack sent a connection request and I accepted.

2 - Jack started a conversation in the DMs.

3 - After a bit of back and forth, he pitched me his offer

4 - We booked a call, and I became Jack’s client.

But of course, that’s not what happened at all.

Over the next three months, I read many of Jack’s posts and newsletters. After a while, he began to occupy space in my mind as a living, breathing human.

Through his authority content, I understood:
- What he offered
- Who he worked with
- What made him different
- The results he achieved for his clients

Through his personal content, I got to know:
- His personality
- His lifestyle
- His values
- His goals


6 - CALL BOOKED
Jack’s content had done all the foundational work.
I booked a call with him.


7 - CONVERSON
The call was about clarity. 

There was no urgency, or scarcity, or bonus offers if I sign right now. 

Instead, he walked me through what working together would look like, and answered my questions. 

After the call, he sent me a payment link. 
I invested $5k with him.

This is how to sell high ticket on LinkedIn.

It’s not about the “perfect DM script”.

How I accidentally ended up on Bad Bunny’s plane, without knowing who he was.  

I think it was 2019.  I was in San Juan, Puerto Rico for an InterContinental Hotels & Resorts  meeting.  (May have even been before that, everything kind of runs together!). 

After a great conference, which included some time at the Bacardi rum factory, I was in the airport waiting for my connection through Miami.  

All sorts of people wearing Bad Bunny sweatshirts.   I thought it was a brand of clothing. The person I wound up being seated next to (back when I flew enough on one airline to get status) seemed to know a bunch of the people wearing the Bad Bunny sweatshirts, hats, etc. 

You can probably guess who that person was.  What question did I ask him?  If he knew what the Bad Bubby brand was.  So, yes, I did indeed ask Bad Bunny…..if he knew what (and not who, Bad Bunny was) and that is my super Sunday story.

Very excited about heading to New York City next week for HSMAI and the Adrian Awards and HSMAI Top 25 Extraordinary minds.

None of the below photos are real.  However, the problem is.

I have plenty of pictures of beautiful ballrooms, both when they are empty....and when they are full with amazing events.  The challenge I had, is that I wanted to use some photos to articulate the challenge of function space utilization.  

This is a challenge that I have spoken with literally thousands of leaders across the hospitality industry, and had never really spoken to anyone with a real solution to the challenge.

Amaze Insights has finally given leaders the tools to ensure optimization of the space, and to better understand......what is the current utilization of our event space, and how does it compare....to any past or future year?

Would love to share more with you about this...and also make sure that your space is looking much more like the photos on the right, instead of the photos on the left.

Had a great day at Amaze....and was feeling incredibly grateful......and happened to catch this sunset on my way to do pick up for kids sports.  Made me feel even more grateful than I was already feeling.  Hope your week is off to a great start!

DAM!  (Not Damn) Southwest Airlines has great customer service!  This picture is unrelated, but it is from a recent SWA flight, and I liked checking out the Dam from the sky.

With so many companies using automated systems (some AI, some the old robo systems), it really is nice when you call an airline and can very quickly get an actual person on the line.  I needed to make a couple of flight adjustments that could not be done online, and I called and got any actual person....who almost immediately solved what I needed.  Great customer service and executed well.  Kudos!

A view that looks ALMOST as good as a nice Amaze Insights Pace Report that lets you know exactly how you are doing across your entire portfolio of hotels!

Most of the tech we use every day has gotten significantly better, and you really do just expect and assume it will work. 

Then, there are printers.

If you will be at the BITAC Events sales, marketing  and revenue management summit in Ft Myers at the Luminary hotel, you just might score one of these limited edition lanyards.  

Just think about how cool you will look!

The only time it is good to have your sign blocked, is when you are an amazing hotel at a ski mountain, and what is blocking your sign is snow!

Limelight Hotels absolutely crushed it for us again this past weekend in Mammoth.  Every single time I have stayed here, I have been blown away by the level of service and how nice the hotel is.  

It is also right next to the Village at Mammoth Resort, and only a few steps to get on the Gondola.  There is nothing like a ski trip, staying at a hotel that understands how to do ski (and I suppose snowboarding....) so well.

Every floor also has pebble ice and filtered water (hot or cold) and this is such a nice touch.  

Two beautiful hot tubs, and a really nice fire pit are also there for your post ski time.  There is also quite an Apres Ski vibe.....where we saw both live music and a DJ.

You also get to start the day with an included breakfast....that is a great way to start a day.

My only complaint?  Well, my son is now spoiled and thinks that this is what a ski trip should be.....and I suppose that I am as well!  Well done Limelight Mammoth!
