"How do I know if my content is deep enough?"


I get this question a lot from founders who are trying to build on LinkedIn.

They're worried their posts are too surface-level.

They're worried they're not adding enough value.

They're worried they sound like everyone else.

Most content isn't too shallow.
Most content is too vague.

There's a difference.

Shallow content = "Consistency is key to success."

Vague content = "I learned so much from my recent project."

Deep content = "I posted 4x a week for 6 months and got 2 clients. Here's what I'd do differently."

The test I use for depth:

➜ Could someone actually DO something with this information?

➜ Did I include a specific example, number, or story?

➜ Would I have found this useful 6 months ago?

If the answer is no to all three?
It's not deep enough.

Deep content bares these 2 hallmarks:

➜ Specificity (not just "be consistent" but "post Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 8am")

➜ Personal experience (what YOU did, not what "experts say")

➜ Nuance (the part most people leave out)

You don't need to write a dissertation.
You don't need to share proprietary secrets.
You just need to be specific enough that someone can take action.

Most LinkedIn content is optimized for reach, not resonance.

It's designed to impress.
To sound smart.
To get shares.

But the posts that warm up prospects are the one that keep it real.

The ones where you sense the person behind the words.

That's what separates content from positioning.

This what I've learned about writing posts that stand deep, not “out”:

Write something that makes you slightly nervous to publish.

Not controversial. Not offensive.

Just honest enough that you feel exposed.

If you're never uncomfortable, you're performing, not communicating.

Remove every sentence that sounds "impressive."

Delete phrases that try to sound smart. Keep the ones that feel true.

Authority doesn't come from sounding advanced. It comes from sounding grounded.

Stop explaining yourself fully.

Leave small gaps. Don't over-clarify every nuance.

When everything is explained, nothing invites engagement.

Write one post that only your future self would understand.

Not optimized. Not trendy.

Just aligned with who you're becoming.

LinkedIn can be a laboratory for identity, not just a distribution channel.

Share a principle without telling people what to do.

Most posts end with instructions.

Instead, end with a perspective. 
Let the reader sit with it.

Depth creates reflection. 
Reflection builds memory.

Speak to one archetype, not "everyone."

Visualize one kind of mind.

Write as if you're speaking to someone who thinks deeply, not someone scrolling fast.

Admit a limitation publicly.

"I'm still learning this." 
“I struggle with this pattern."

Not weakness. Reality.

Credibility increases when you remove the illusion of perfection.

Rewrite a post until it sounds like something you'd say out loud.

If it sounds like LinkedIn, it's generic.
If it sounds like you, it's positioning.

Replace advice with observation.

Instead of: "You should build a brand."

Write: "I notice people who build patiently seem calmer about outcomes."

Observation invites thought. 

Let silence do part of the work.

Don't respond instantly to every comment. Don't fill every pause.

Depth attracts thoughtful people. 
Urgency attracts noise.

How To Write LinkedIn Posts That Resonate

Your LinkedIn results improve the moment you stop clinging to them.

Last month, I had a flight booked to see Everest.

Day one: canceled.

I was annoyed, tense, already running stories in my head about wasted time and bad luck.

Day two: the flight did happen.

And I noticed something: 

Day one didn’t have to touch day two at all. 

The only way the first cancellation could ruin the second experience was if I carried it with me.

That lesson translates cleanly to LinkedIn.

Founders and solopreneurs post without strategy and sell too aggressively because they’re attached to immediate feedback.

A post underperforms, 
So they change direction overnight.

A week feels quiet, so they push harder in DMs.

A launch doesn’t convert fast, 
So they add pressure, urgency, guilt.

But the past is in the past.

One post’s metrics don’t define your positioning.

One slow week doesn’t invalidate your strategy.

One “no” doesn’t mean you should start shouting.

Detachment from metrics doesn’t mean ignoring them. 

It means treating them as data, not identity.

If you’re building a brand for the long term, you need a steady system:

1. Strategy before posting: 

A few clear themes you want to be known for, repeated consistently.

2. Metrics as feedback: 

Look for patterns across weeks, not emotions after one post

3. Ethical selling: 

Offer the next step when it fits, 
Then let people choose without pressure.

4. Consistency over intensity: 

Trust compounds when your audience sees you show up the same way.

5. Patience: 

Relationships mature slower than dashboards!

The founders who win on LinkedIn are calm about the short term and serious about the long term.

They think in years, not posts.

5 Questions to Ask Yourself Before You Send A DM:


1. Do I actually know this person?

Sending a DM to someone you’ve never talked to? That’s cold. 

But if you’ve already interacted with their posts or left a thoughtful comment, 

It feels a lot warmer.


2. What am I really after here?

If you’re not sure what you want out of this message, hit pause. Figure that out first.


3. Am I giving them something or just asking for a favor?

Nobody likes getting pitched out of the blue. Your first message should offer something,

Whether it’s a compliment, a resource, or a question about them, 

Always give before you take.


4. Would I say this if we were face-to-face?

If your message would sound weird or pushy in person, it’ll come off the same way in a DM.


5. Is my profile ready for them to check out?

People click. They always do. Make sure your profile actually shows who you are and what you’re about. First impressions matter.


Ask yourself these five questions before you hit send. When you do, your DMs stop feeling random and start making sense. 

People can tell the difference.

Don’t blast out messages on autopilot. 
Think it through, then send. 
You’ll have way better conversations!

Why DMs to companies & solopreneurs must be different:


When I reach out to companies:

I'm talking to gatekeepers first.

I need to sound "professional" 
(whatever that means).
I'm navigating layers of decision-makers.
I'm selling to a process, not a person.

When I reach out to solopreneurs:

I'm talking directly to the decision-maker..
There's no corporate jargon bullshit to dance around.

I'm selling to a person who feels the pain themselves.

But ironically there are similarities.

Both want to know: "What's in it for me?"
Both hate generic copy-paste garbage.
Both can smell fake interest from a mile away.
Both need to trust you before they buy.

The mistake most people make?

They think one template fits all.

They blast the same message to a VP at a SaaS company and a freelance consultant building their thing.

That's lazy.

And it shows.

Companies need ROI language and case studies.

Solopreneurs need empathy and quick wins.

But both need you to give a damn about their specific situation.

So when you're writing DMs:

Ask yourself who's reading it.

Are they protecting their job or building their dream?

Are they answering to a board or to themselves?

Adjust your approach.

Keep your humanity.

And for fuck's sake, stop sending the same message to everyone.

Your LinkedIn strategy won’t work unless you make it work (if you follow these 5 steps):


1. Block time in your calendar for writing.

If you have a strategy, 
You have content pillars,
So you won’t start from scratch.
Now, all you need is time to do it. 

2. Set a budget for design and run with it.

You need 1 banner and 1-3 featured banners. 
If you aren’t a designer, don’t save money on it.
Talk with 2-3 designers in your network, 
Choose 1 and the pay them to do the work. 

3. Write 2-3 templates for initial outreach.

Yes, it should be personal.
But it doesn’t mean it should be random.
Write templates that personalize differently, 
Then customize to match the ICP’s profile. 

4. Block time for a monthly content review.

Examine which posts worked more.
Don’t look only on likes and views, 
Test saves, quality of comments 
And the quality of likes (ICPs or not). 

5. Know your power limits.

If you can’t feedback yourself properly, 
Find someone who will. 
Hire a coach who won’t give you fish, 
But rather will teach you how to fish. 

Linkedin isn’t just a platform, it’s a skill. 
Your strategy is the roadmap,
Aimed at one purpose only:

Fulfilling that skill to help you reach your goals.

Have a strategy in place? 
It won’t work in itself. 

You must work for it to work, 
And when you work,
