Amsterdam, 21 June 2021 – WeWork Labs and BW Ventures today launch the first accelerator program for the Music Tech industry in Europe. The free program aims to support early-stage startups to grow their business and network and develop a commercially and technically feasible product over the course of ten weeks. Eight startup teams will be selected by BW Ventures and WeWork Labs (www.wework.com/labs). The program is free of charge.

Who Am I?
My journey as an entrepreneur started at the age of 19, beginning in the music industry. After receiving multiple questionable record deals, I decided I could do better and launched my first company.

Experiencing the trouble of being an entrepreneur, I learned that the way we teach entrepreneurship and help early-stage corporate ventures was not the most efficient way. We are handling corporate ventures as smaller versions of more prominent companies, which leads to the wrong activities and investments, literally destroying time and capital. 

This is why I started BW Ventures 6 years ago. I could do better. We’ve helped over 200 startups in their quest to find a durable and scalable business model. By helping with a structured, customer-centric process, that helps them figure out why, how, and what they do. 

Even after finding a commercially feasible model, corporate ventures are still struggling to find their first investment to launch version 1.0 of their product.

The riskiest innovation projects aren’t the obvious failures. 
They’re the ones that look strategic but bleed millions in silence.

I’ve sat in boardrooms where no one would kill a pet project. 
Not because it delivered results, but because it felt safe. 
It checked the buzzword boxes.
It matched the brand. 

Then someone asks, “Would this ten million create more value in the market or in shareholders’ hands?”

The room goes quiet.

That’s the blind spot. 

Innovation isn’t only about testing ideas or running pilots. 
It’s about how you allocate capital.

If we use ROIC to judge M&A or capex, why not innovation? 
The teams that do it early scale with discipline. 
The ones that don’t stay stuck in costly experiments.

And in a world of rising rates, discipline isn’t optional anymore.
