Call me crazy but I don’t hire people because of their attitude. 

I don’t hire a hairstylist because they are positive if they are incompetent and are going to ruin my hair.

But the first criteria is being competent, having relevant experience or at least transferable skills to succeed. 

I’ll get cancelled to say this loud because we are on LinkedIn lol but it is what it is. 

Don’t make your business fail by following random advice from people who never built one.

Yes, you can train on some job-related tasks, but if they lack the foundations or are just incompetent even after all the good training and intentions, it will be a costly move. If you’re not running a charity, remember that business is business and the market doesn’t care if you’re a people pleaser.

The red flags I failed to recognize in previous client (and personal) relationships: 

- Lack of feedback or communication 
- Controlling behaviour. They hire you and then not letting you do your job 
- A lot of Indecision. Especially towards the direction. They don’t know what they want and where they want to go. 
- Not respecting boundaries and contract obligations 
- Not respecting your time and give you no space
- No shows or last-minute rescheduling without strong reasons and apologies.
- They try to take advantage of you, guilt-tripping you for things they are responsible for.

Sometimes it’s okay to say “timing is off” or “that won’t work for me”. 

Not a match, next. 

You need certain conditions to bring the best results for your clients. 

Sometimes it’s okay to decline an opportunity if it only looks good on paper but it’ll bring you to hell.

According to affective neuroscience, when you're stressed or dysregulated, your prefrontal cortex becomes far less active, and you make more impulsive decisions.

This is something most entrepreneurs ignore when building their personal brand.

When you're overwhelmed, anxious, or under pressure, you're literally not thinking clearly.
And that's when you make terrible content decisions.

You post something you'll regret later.
Trolling people who disagree with you in the comments.
Or going silent for months.

Your personal brand deserves better than your stressed-out brain making decisions.

One simple trick I use to keep being consistent and sharing quality content, even when I am in fight-and-flight mode, is this:

I make the “right choice” convenient and easy. I get my unconscious to “work” in my favor.

A few examples:
- I have a good system in place that doesn’t rely on me being focused and inspired every day.

- I write/shoot several pieces of content in a row when I am in a non-distracting environment and focused. I have content ready to go and avoid posting on the spot most of the time.

- I don’t try to reinvent the wheel. I recognize patterns and observe the environment around me, I test and do what works best for me.

- I consistently put myself in environments that get me closer to my goals and surround myself with people who are where I want to be and inspire me to level up.

- I follow a “boring routine” and my habits guide my behavior. The “right behavior” becomes automatic.

-

When your system is strong, your brand stays consistent even on the days your mind isn’t so build something sustainable that doesn't rely on inspiration or motivation alone.

I didn’t expect that response because it was so obvious for me.

- But then I remembered I had my first internship in marketing at 16. 

- I studied buyer psychology, marketing and business every single day since then. 

- I hold a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, control and corporate finance
 
- I have an international Master’s in management with a major in marketing. 

- I have worked for the most impactful companies worldwide. 

- I used to manage a client portfolio of ~1M in monthly ad spend. 

- I wrote thousands of posts.

Where do you get ideas for content?

I read a statistic that blew my mind.

Your brain receives about 11 million bits of sensory input per second.
Your conscious mind can handle around 50.

That means over 99.999 percent of what you “experience” is filtered out before you’re even aware of it.

And here’s the part that matters for how you show up online:

Your brain doesn’t pass through raw reality.
It passes through whatever fits your internal model.

If you believe:
	•	“I’m not good enough.”
	•	“People won’t care about what I post.”
	•	“they will laugh at me 
	•	“I’m behind.”

Your brain filters your entire online presence through that lens highlighting every risk and
magnifying judgment that isn’t even there.

It’ll confirm your existing beliefs (confirmation bias)

Not because it’s true.
But because your brain will rely on old predictions (predictive processing)
Your cortex is always guessing what matters and ignoring the rest.

So basically you don’t show up online based on who you are.
But you show up based on what your brain expects you to be. 

What does it mean in practice? 

It means that we have more power than we think. 

When we change the expectations our brain relies on →  the predictions change → our behavior changes → and our external reality starts to shift with it.

If you see yourself as someone who "isn't good at marketing" or "doesn't like attention," you'll sabotage your own efforts to build a strong brand. 

And guess what? 

You will show yourself that you were right. That you weren’t good at this social media thing. 

That you’re too xyz (whatever you think you are).

People say they want to build their personal brand, but they still act like someone who avoids the spotlight.

They consume endless content about LinkedIn strategies and personal branding tips.

But when it comes to posting consistently or engaging with intention, they disappear.

The disconnect happens because deep down, they still see themselves as "not the type of person who builds online."

According to Identity-based motivation theory we don't act based on what we want, but on who we believe we are.

The shift happens when you start identifying as someone who shares valuable insights.

Someone who helps others through their expertise.

Someone who builds meaningful professional relationships online.

Start small and repeat.

Each action reinforces your new identity as someone who shows up professionally online.

Your actions will eventually align with this new version of yourself.

The person you're becoming, not the person you used to be.

Social media is making people miserable.

Social media is also giving people opportunities and bringing them money and freedom.

Just because you have access to something it doesn’t mean it’s good for you to abuse it.

Self-control is a skill, not a talent.

We tend to blame external factors for our lack of focus, commitment and results.

But if we think about it..

We are responsible for our actions.

Nobody is forcing us..

to follow the latest trend.
to start another project.
to join the next party.

Cheap dopamine is addictive.
We think we need it, but in fact it’s just..

Lack of confidence.

We can choose.

We can choose to be committed and give ourself a fair shot.

You are responsible for your own success.

Don’t blame the game.
Don’t blame the players.

If you need to blame someone, blame yourself.

Self-control is a skill you can develop.

You won’t be judged by leading voices in your industry and successful entrepreneurs for putting yourself out there and take your shot. 

They also started somewhere so they know how hard it can be to begin. 

They are usually too busy closing deals or leveling up themselves.

Feeling like you’re walking on eggshells every time you reinforce your boundaries is not normal. The right people respect you and want you to feel safe and respected. 

Sometimes withdrawing yourself from the situation is the best move for your mental health. 

You don’t need to get drained trying to fit in in the wrong places

We think everyone is watching our moves, analyzing our mistakes, and judging our choices.

That spotlight effect (yes, that’s a cognitive bias) makes us believe we're constantly under scrutiny and feeling like we're performing on stage.
We think we're the main character in everyone else's story.

But it’s a lie. They are their own main character. 

Most people are too wrapped up in their own lives to obsess over ours.
Do you obsess over a spelling mistake made by a random person on the internet yesterday? 

No, right? 
You probably didn’t even notice, and even if you did, you don’t really care

And if you cared that much about a simple mistake someone else made online, it has probably more to do with your own insecurities and lack of an exciting life than the person making the mistake. 

It’s the same the other way around.

So stop dimming your light because you think the whole world is watching.

Share your thoughts. Take up space. 
Own the room. 

You have SO MUCH to give and learnings to share. 
Your voice deserves to be heard, too.

you still rely on outreach DMs to strangers and referrals (that we know tend to have a cap), 

you still think about “maybe I should build a brand..”. 

While you see your competitors, often less skilled than you crushing on social media and scaling and looking better than you just because they show up online and are visible

You could use this semester to build awareness

get known, get authority, 

build an actual name that get recalled in niche industry conferences, 

get inbound opportunities straight to your inbox 

lead sales calls more confidently (as they already know you and THEY are coming to you)

Naturally developing life changing skills like knowing how to make money online, storytelling, speaking skills, community building, copywriting, personal branding, inbound marketing

In 6 months everything in your life can change. 

And I’m not exaggerating. 

When I started posting intentionally I turned my side hustle in full time in 3.5 months. I left a 9-5 and bet on myself and even left the country on my own because my new remote business was growing fast and gave me total freedom  (you don’t need to go that extreme but you get the point)

So think about it. 
Where would you like to be in 6 months from now?

6 lies you’re telling yourself to why you’re not showing up online as you’d like to

1. I’m busy
Reframe: are you too busy or you’re not prioritising it? Are you afraid of something and you use the busy excuse to avoid discomfort? 

2. I don’t have anything to share 

That’s not true and you know that. It might be you don’t know HOW to successfully share your messages on different platforms, but that can be easily learned

3. I’m not interesting enough 
That’s another lie. You are just used to your own knowledge and life. If you don’t find your own life interesting, spicy it up and do something new. 

Then interesting is relative. If you share gaming videos to me I’ll tell you it’s very boring, but if you do it to my brother he’ll watch them enthusiastically. 
Also, think about your ideal client, don’t you think they’ll watch/ read content if it can help them move forward to fix their problems? A subject doesn’t need to be sexy to be learned and studied. 

4. People don’t want to see my face. I’m not a pretty young woman. 

People like to see other people’s faces, that’s plenty of research on the topic.
Imagine you’re the host of a Zoom meeting, do you think your audience finds you more engaging and will pay more attention when you have your camera on or off? 

It’s easier to have other people showing up if you lead by example. 

5. It’s too late 
For what? Unless we have an apocalypse planned before 2026 that I am not aware of, “too late” is made up. I know people who built new entire careers later in life so you can start building online whenever you want to. The platform has never had so many users and activity 

6. It’s too noisy

True, but it’s that. Noise. Original GOOD content stands out, BECAUSE there is so much crap. 
Scrolling and commenting is not as fun as it was before but my inbox has never been more active. 

Focus your attention on the right things.

Mindset is everything. Whatever you choose to believe it’s true. 

What lie did I miss? 

PS. This week last year I booked a trip to Dubai as a gift to my self for my birthday. 

That trip was supposed to last one week, but Dubai treated me so well that I extended to one month and then I moved my whole business and lived here all the year (excluding the summer ofc) 🎉 crazy how life works out sometimes

I used to underestimate the role of my environment in my growth and success. 
Wait before you think "great, another wanna be influencer talking about Dubai and how great it is" 
nope, I am not going there.

Follow me, for just a sec.

By environment I don’t mean only the city/town where you live. But also the room in your head you keep visiting. 

The conversations you have with yourself and others.
The thoughts and images you feed your mind daily
The content you consume.

I realized I was feeding my brain junk content and negative self-talk while expecting premium results.

Your mental environment shapes your reality more than your physical location ever will.

The beliefs you hold. The thoughts you repeat and reaffirm. 

They become your reality.

I didn't decide it. It's neuroscience. 

So stop thinking the universe is working against you, or this is exactly what will happen. 

Rewive your brain to see more opportunities. And suddenly they will show up.

Build a new identity for yourself if you don't like who you have become.

Start curating your mental diet intentionally.
Unfollow accounts that drain you.
Consume content that elevates your thinking.
