🥰 I LOVE sharing ideas with new audiences and getting their reactions and questions. 

😰 But I meet a LOT of people who are terrified of speaking to an audience, whether that’s in person or simply on a Zoom recording. 

🤫 The secret is, no one is ‘born’ to be a public speaker. Everyone learns along the way. Some people are just more willing or able to learn. And here’s where YOU can benefit…

Three steps to becoming a better public speaker by the end of next week:

1. Motivation: Find the reason WHY you want to speak… Not because your boss told you, but imagine what will be open to you if this becomes a core skill. A promotion. Travel to an event. Or maybe launching your own podcast…

2. Preparation: It’s different for everyone, but if you are confident or competent in the material you are sharing, you’ll share it more easily. Don’t start with material you’re not an ‘expert’ in. Maybe just choose your life or professional journey. Who knows that better than you?

3. Repetition: This is the hardest one. As a Consultant I presented almost daily to adults twice my age and very much my senior. As children we read to our classmates or act in plays. Find a ‘setting’ to share information with other humans every week… Could be a book review, bedtime story, or a summary of your week’s adventures. 

📚 Humans are storytellers. We all have it in us. Find the story you want to tell, the audience you want to tell it to, and just START. Small and often, and your competence will grow into confidence, which could launch a million TED Talks… Or beautiful, personal stories that help others to learn from your legacy…

🤬 SUNDAY RANT: Is it time for the 'grown ups' to take back Blockchain, Crypto & Web3? Or are we just one memecoin pump away from 'making it'?...

🤔 Here's a challenge for you: 
Look through the top 50 Blockchain and Crypto projects, and other than people holding Bitcoin, see if you can point to one major application that is being used by mainstream businesses or people today...

🤷🏽‍♂️ It's not impossible, and honestly there's a lot more out there than most people realise (Web3 marketeers often struggle with communicating utility to regular humans, rather than bull-posting on 'Crypto Twitter')...

🤡 But as you go down the list, start scratching off the projects (and their market cap) that are purely speculative technology experiments that have yet to impact the world outside of the Web3 'bubble'... 

You'll get to quite a short list...

📈 With institutional capital and ongoing 'maturing' of our industry will come greater scrutiny, deeper investment due diligence, and more 'grown ups' asking: "So what exactly does your Foundation or project do to generate sustainable revenue outside of selling of tokens at market highs?"

📝 If your project doesn't have a clear plan for this (and the 'tech roadmap' doesn't count!) you'd best be concerned... Or if it does have a plan, but it's dependent on some broad-sweeping, industry-wide, universal adoption of your 'Blockchain' or 'Token' as the ONLY solution... Run a mile! 

‼️ Digital transformation does NOT work this way, and large enterprises and institutions do NOT lock themselves in with single technology vendors.

🤪 And PLEASE don't tell me that Memecoins (e.g. DOGE, SHIB, FLOKI, PEPE, FART, etc.) are the 'gateway drug' for mass adoption. They ARE the gateway drug for on-chain gambling and casino games... which I'll concede is an 'industry' in itself... However, it's not the end game for Blockchain technology.

🙏🏽 When the early whitepapers cited decentralisation, self-sovereignty, immutability, automation and 'trust' as features the world needs; this is still true. We just haven't got their yet...

😡 So PLEASE, don't tell me your project's 'Lore' is going to get Blockchain into the hands of the millions. It might make you a quick buck... But that's not what I'm here for...

🤓 Let's start having more 'grown up' conversations about how we bring Blockchain technology to the world, and bring back the HARD questions about UTILITY. It's been 10-years... We're not kids any more...

🔥POV: The speed of new ‘narratives’ in Crypto as investors get bored of this week’s memecoin (Sound: ON!)…

🤡 They say keep ‘faking it until you make it’ in the world, but right now Web3 is doing a lot of faking but not a lot of MAKING

🤦🏽‍♂️ And there’s a good reason: no one investing has the patience to hold on to their investment for long enough to see ACTUAL IMPACT…

🧠 Anyone who has built anything knows it takes at least 1-2 years to have meaningful growth and impact after forming or raising. And VCs used to be ok with this…

🤪 For some reason the TL;DR generation’s impatience on content has translated over to  capital. And so we see wild volatility and vitriol when the next “AI Meme Space Infra” play doesn’t become the go-to tech for the whole of X, Google and Microsoft at once…

👨🏽‍🍳 And so the Web3 ‘chefs’ cook up another narrative (“privacy coins” anyone?) to keep our baby billionaires-in-waiting entertained…

Don’t worry though. REAL VALUE does win through, even amid the chaos… When do you think we see meaningful Web3 adoption?

🤯 Somewhere in the last 10 years, the level of thinking around the application of Blockchain technology has reduced to 'gamble on animal coins' rather than 'build something transformational'...

🥵 Yes, transformation is hard. But ultimately that when you create the most value... Leveraged gambling on magical internet money is NOT it...

🤷🏽‍♂️ So why is 'DeFi' not the only use case?...
- Because tokenisation of 'things' was proven since 2017
- Because a shared record of encrypted data was proven since the 80s
- Because ZK is transforming privacy in automated systems today

😡 SUNDAY RANT: Is there any other industry in the world whose ‘success’ is so dictated by short-sighted speculation?…

🤷🏽‍♂️Why are we still playing victim to ‘narratives’ and the creation of pump-and-dump speculation bubbles in Web3?

“Privacy coins are the future”
“Tokenised real world assets are the future”
“AI coins are the future”
“Interoperability chains are the future”

🫧 It’s exhausting to see the constant fear, greed and anxiety surrounding technology that is equivalent to cloud, robotic process automation and payments innovation… Are we simply a ‘shadow stock market’ for tech stocks but with due diligence done on Twitter sentiment alone?…

🧠 Quick reality check: transformation of ANY sector takes a minimum of 3 years. So anyone expecting ‘mass adoption’ of anything needs to know it is a LONG TERM GAME…

🎢 Any yet we see ‘professionals’ talking up tokens and projects as if they’re about to go parabolic in weeks. Why is no one calling bull$h!t on the entire capitalisation structure of Blockchain and Crypto?

💰Money. Or rather the opportunity for those with more of it to take from those who have some of it (and naive desire to find a shortcut to ‘generational wealth’)

🏆 There are probably less than 10 technology companies in Web3 with the wherewithal to build PRODUCTS that could realistically be used daily in a B2B or B2C setting… 

🤦🏽‍♂️ But sadly we still see billions of dollars passed around to projects with a ‘narrative’ and nothing to show for it. 

“But if we all just get behind one meme coin, we can save Web3 for everyone”

😤 STOP IT!… Let’s differentiate between pumping stocks with the power of the crowd (GameStop style) and being ACTUALLY VALUABLE. 

💼 Sadly, we’re seeing capital flow to projects that will never have a viable business model; at the expense of those that have a chance to. This is the bed we have made with ‘crypto’ and sadly, we may all have to sleep (and die) in it…

⏳How long can we keep spreading smaller pools of capital across an increasing number of less viable projects that don’t know how to scale?… 

I hope there’s a ‘reset’ of mindset and investment allocation model soon. But I don’t know if we’ve already dug too deep of a hole to clamber out of…
