I wish I’d learned this years ago.

Back then, I treated negotiations like battles.
I came prepared to win.
To defend my position.
To leave the room victorious.

And many times, I did.
(If you work for a huge company, it’s not that difficult 😉)

But after those meetings, I often felt emotionally drained.
Worse, even when I “won” in the boardroom,
that success sometimes faded during contract execution.

Why?
Because force isn’t a long-term strategy.

Over time, I learned that this small mindset shift (me&you vs. problem)
 – can make negotiations so much easier,
 – and helps build true partnership.

I work in PROCUREMENT. A RESPONSIBLE one.
Which means that ESG is basically my second name. 🌱
Sometimes my job even takes me to 
the construction site for an ESG audit.

Of course, I came prepared: vest, shoes, helmet… 
and a bright red nose (it was cold and rainy, so no photos this time! 🌧️😂).

Last week, I visited a PV farm under construction.

Because, we don’t just verify suppliers by checking their statements and documents. We also audit our construction partners on-site during the building phase.

One of my responsibilities is to coordinate ESG audits.
Maybe “supervise” isn’t the perfect word.

Auditors are independent, and the relationship is a bit more nuanced.
I’m the one who procures independent auditors, reviews their reports, provides feedback, and sometimes answers questions during site visits.

It’s a fascinating intersection of:
procurement, sustainability, and "fieldwork" 
and it keeps me constantly learning.

🎹 What do China and Poland have in common?
A similar musical sensibility, perhaps? Something in our souls makes us love CHOPIN. Once every 5 years, China and 
Japan come to Warsaw along with a handful of other nationalities with Chinese-sounding names.

The International Chopin Piano Competition is pure madness.
Three weeks of beautiful madness.

A year ago, we managed to buy tickets for the 1st stage of the competition. We also wanted to buy tickets for the final, but they sold out within minutes. All of them.

So I was lucky enough to spend 5 hours at the National Philharmonic on Saturday, listening to 9 participants.

I could write a post about 
- how much talent and hard work it takes to achieve success; 
- how much perseverance and determination are needed to prepare for such a demanding competition; 
- how much courage it takes to perform on stage, knowing that this one performance could make or break your artistic career, that becoming a finalist opens the doors of concert halls for you...

BUT this competition is much more than that.
 
It’s about the atmosphere, the tradition, the emotions...
Yes, above all, EMOTIONS because a true artist is not only technically proficient but also able to touch and control the emotions of the audience. 

These true artists can move us, make us smile, or make us cry.

Music connects us, no matter which continent we come from. 
We all share the same emotions.
