As a Content Marketing Manager at TopRank Marketing, I lead strategy and execution for several enterprise and mid-market B2B accounts. At the heart of it all, my north star is crafting content that connects. I believe storytelling is the most powerful tool we have to earn attention, build trust, and inspire action, especially in complex industries where nuance matters.

My non-linear career path is one of my greatest strengths. Mentoring elementary students taught me how people think and learn. Technical writing taught me how to translate complexity into clarity. Running a small business taught me resilience, and gave me firsthand insight into what real customers need (and how poorly targeted marketing falls flat).

Before TopRank, I led brand strategy and digital marketing for Honest Home Inspection, guiding the company through a successful rebrand and strategic growth during the pandemic. Our work earned a Bronze Award in the Star Tribune’s Best of Minnesota 2021.

I’m also a professional fire dancer and founding member of Fandazzi Fire, a Minnesota-based performance troupe that combines dance, music, and fire at festivals and private events. We’ve built a loyal following and deliver bold, unforgettable performances.

These past few weeks have shown us the absolute worst and best of humanity.

Unfortunately, the worst of it will be sticking around for a while. But they really misjudged our resilience, especially at this time of year.

See, we KNOW that spring will some day come. We also know that we don’t know WHEN that will happen.

As early as January, we get a thaw - temps rising up to a tropical 40F that melts the top layer of snow, revealing the accumulation of dirt and detritus.

But then it snows again. And the temperatures drop (boy, can they drop!).

February tests us all. It might do anything - melt, snow, freezing rain, endless grey skies…. But we know that it isn’t forever, even if it does make the shortest month of the year feel like the longest.

By March, we might still get hammered by snow, but it’s the kind of snow that signals sap is running. The earth is waking up.

In April, we know that Real Spring is upon us, and that eventually… eventually… we will see the last blizzard. We ready our trays for spring planting, which happens when some of you are seeing your first harvest.

By Mother’s Day, we are likely to have seen the last frost, and it’s safe to plant in the ground. Some of us are brave enough to put away the shovel. (We all know that if you put it away too early, you’ve cursed the whole state, and the shame is unbearable.)

We are resilient, and we are patient. We know that warmer days will come. And we have developed cultural practices to make these winter days more bearable - for ourselves and for one another.

So, yes, they underestimate our resilience.

But our allies? We need you to recognize our fragility, because another thing we know is that surviving the long winter requires community care. Give us grace to be sincere when asked, “How are you doing?” at the top of a Zoom call. Donate what you can to our mutual aid networks. And remember that you are one of us, too - just in another area code.

Start building your own community networks. When you need them (and we pray you don’t) you’ll be glad you have them.

I am the co-founder and member of a professional fire dancing troupe, Fandazzi Fire, that has performed at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and other Midwest regional events since 2004. Because of our dedication to artistry and safety, we have grown to become a featured stage act at many festivals. I dance with a variety of fire props and am so cool under pressure that I've literally put out fires on myself and cast-mates while dancing.

St. John's UCC in Norwood, MN

I founded and subsequently managed the St. John's UCC Farmer's Market for the summers of 2013 and 2014. It was founded with the idea of fostering community relations, providing local growers and crafters with a sales outlet for their produce and products, and a means for local community members to have access to a wider variety of fresh produce beyond what is typically available in our small town markets.

I handed over management to the church upon leaving, and the farmers market remains in operation. It has helped several families earn additional income, and has even spurred one family to open a store-front restaurant in a nearby town. 

Order of the Pink Garter

The Order is a group of female-identifying and non-binary individuals at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival who are dedicated to ensuring the safety of all individuals during the Festival season. We formed due to a need for a group who would designate safe spaces for people being harassed by patrons or fellow employees to turn to when seeking immediate help. I have been our public-facing voice and liaison to the press, as our former Entertainment Director faces charges associated with activities that took place on Festival grounds during Festival hours. I co-manage the Sisterhood, which is our broader body of members, and oversee discussions, manage emotions, and guide to proper channels of assistance as needed.
