I am here to confirm that ebook downloads do in fact turn into revenue!  We were all wrong.

In 2017, I remember downloading an ebook. 

I specifically remember downloading this bc I  found the printed out version that I made notes on back in 2017.

That’s just how I learned back then, such a boomer right?

7 years later, I have officially purchased from that company!

So yes, ebook downloads do turn into revenue! 

Granted the marketer that launched probably has moved on or was fired so they won’t get the credit 

In the last six years did I see their various other marketing materials, ads and what not? I mean yea

Was the ebook I read 6 years the reason I bought? Well no, it wasn’t that good but I’m sure it didn’t hurt.

If they didn’t gate it would I have bought regardless? Who knows, I can’t predict the future from the past 

But in their CRM (assuming they have a 7 year look back window), the ebook was indeed the first touch

3 things I deeply wish I did when I was in house.

1️⃣ Documented everything, and created a database.

I’m not talking about anything IP related. 

I’m talking about anything you do more than once, no matter how big or small it is.

Take the extra few minutes to create a quick video of you doing it and use an AI tool like PlaybookWriter to quickly create a step by step walkthrough.

Put the walkthrough video link, step by step and any others links, documents, anything somewhere that you can easily give someone or delegate that task to someone in the future. 

If you ever want to manage people, hire someone, delegate anything, even to take time off those will come in handy.

Now that I have 2 VAs, I’ve had to do this and wow I wish I started doing to this forever ago. 

The other benefit is it forces you to put things in certain places so that when you need to do them, you aren’t scrambling around trying to find this link, that sheet, 

I really really really wish I did this

2️⃣ Wish I hired a virtual assistant 

Whether the company paid for it or I paid for it, I wish I did it.

This is simply bc of how many repetitive and small tasks we’re all doing, every single day.

It blows my mind how much most of us are getting paid to do tasks that should be outsourced.

You can find amazing VAs from $5 to $10 an hour. If you document everything like mentioned above, you could save yourself so much time and headache giving someone else that task

Even if you had to pay for it, a part-time VA (10 hrs/week) at $7 an hour is $330 a month. If they can save you 5 hours a week, is that worth it?!

⚠️ Trust me, I know $280 a month is a lot to spend on something but i also know you say that and spend $300 a month on Starbucks….

3️⃣ Wish I used more of that PTO. 

I knowwwww, thank you captain obvious 🫡

But seriously, being able to take paid days off, having someone cover me now that I’m out on my own, sounds so amazing

Really do wish I did that more 

No regrets, just a few wishes

After 91 days of waiting for Linktok (LinkedIns new video feature) access, I finally have it.

91 days of watching others get access

Hoping, wishing, waiting

Getting fudging games access before it 🤦‍♂️

I now have access! And I’m disappointed 

Love the direction, the idea of it, but after scrolling for 6 minutes, it’s rough.

Here’s my very unsolicited advice and thoughts

1️⃣ Give us features that allow us to create videos. This will help more people create videos so I’m not watching 5 clips in a row of topics I don’t care about

2️⃣ Along the same lines, comment with a video response feature and green screen feature. Again, to let more people be able to create.

You also have an AI comment problem so maybe this can help?

3️⃣ Stay focused…Games? Really?!

4️⃣ Remove this new Network Grow + Catch Up tab. It’s the worst and no one wants this many bloated alerts all day long - Kaylee Edmondson

Your Linked[In] ads audience size should be your audience size

Not 50,000 bc that’s what Li. recommends 

Not 400,000 bc that’s what someone selling a course told you.

Your audience size is you audience size

Do figure out your audience size, ideally you have an account list of companies that your company can work with (A TAM if you will)

If not you can also use Linked[in] native features such as industries and employee sizes 

Layer in your buyer persona and that should be your audience size

That said, if it’s under 300 (min. Audience size in Li.) your ads won’t run so you have to decide if it’s still work it to increase the audience knowing there will be some waste

Don’t get me wrong the bigger your audience the better bc your metrics with look better

👉 Lower CPMs 

👉 Lower CPCs 

👉 More and higher conversion rates bc the chance of someone being in market will be higher 

BUT only if that’s still your audience, all that doesn’t matter if it’s people you can’t work with 

I know saying your audience size should be your audience size is a fancy way of saying depends but it’s true 😁

Social proof is the oldest and still more powerful marketing play ever

Its word of mouth, it’s how people buy so when I saw what Rahul Jain was doing at noble 

And then to see the product in action

Long rant short, the TikTok user @sorpheasak is not me. 

Yea, I tried reporting it, but we all know how that goes

Linkedin ads released something new that’s very interesting.

Accelerate campaigns AKA AI generated and optimized campaigns.

In short: Wide audience and placements to let LinkedIns algorithm and AI optimize towards people most likely to take the desired action.

I actually like the idea of it a lot. 

Especially the part where they optimize your audience based on the people engaging with or converting on your ads

This is what Metas evolved to. 

Broad targeting, optimized towards conversion, test creative and messaging and let their algo/ai do its thing

And it works for B2C AND B2B (if you have a  large TAM)

Difference here is….LinkedIns algorithm and AI historically aren’t that strong . It’s just not 

🚩The other big red flag here is you can’t exclude LAN (LinkedIn audience network) aka display ads

I get it, let the AI do its thing, don’t be ad buying Chad controlling every little thing 

Well, I’m not happy about it. I just want that LinkedIn feed (and some ctv), you know, the good stuff 

Long rant, short - I ❤️ the idea of it, in theory it could be AMAZING, especially if you have a huge TAM, awesome content and creative that speaks to your buyer

In reality thought, I’m staying away, watching closely, looking from a far. 

I think it will get better, at least I really hope it does

P.S. A 5 minute video?! WTF.

I know I know. It had to be long. The video walks you through every nook and cranny so you can see how to create one, what the limitations are, what you can and can’t do it, etc.

B2C role opens up and the comments are filled with “this is 5 roles”, “you paying them 5 salaries?” Blah blah blah

Clearly none of them have worked in B2B

A lot of B2B roles are that + 5 other things 🥹

When I saw Olga Andrienko post about it, I raced to the post comments and it was interesting.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lot but for fudge sakes what an amazing opportunity for a young, ambitious person with no family yet

To work with a CEO like that.

The things you’d learn, the skill sets you’d have and the people you’d meet, you’d be set (as long as you don’t fudge it up)

I kinda want to apply 👀 sort of, kind of.

Oh yeah I have a family now, nevermind but great opportunity

The poor marketers account list building 

Because you know longer have that big data provider budget but still understand the importance of account lists in your advertising 

It’s simple: ChatGPT or similar and a little elbow grease

First you do some search on Google for things like top Ai companies, best hr companies, too 100 fintech companies, whatever kind of companies you’re looking for

Once you find that list, use an example prompt like this:

“Can you make me a list of all the companies on this website with company name, website and number of employees and put in a chart format so I can copy and paste it into Google sheets? https://lnkd.in/gMAk2Abr

For some reason it doesn’t always give you the full list so sometimes you need to tell it to continue or please give me the full list of 100 or something like that.

And you’ll have a list

Now to scale it, you can do it yourself for more lists or create a walkthrough and hire a $5 an hour VA and make a bajillion of them if that’s what you’re going for

It’s not easier than using a data provider and takes a little bit more effort, but it works

A lot of companies have made changes to accommodate AI but dag nammit this is the best one by far.

Now that I’m in charge off all employees, and set the orgs growth goals, this is a GAME CHANGER.

2 massive benefits I’m excited about:

1️⃣Unlimited workers to make my 3 person company look like we have 121 employees.

How about that growth rate, who wants to invest?!

2️⃣I can now give the team even bigger growth goals. 

We have 78 sort of people on the marketing team now, no more excuses.

❌ That said, my only qualm is how many 1 to 1s I’ll have to have 🤦‍♂️

If you’ve ever tried talking to AI, it’s brutal. I have a feeling I’ll be handing out a lot of pips.

The real question is when can I start “paying” them. Lattice, can you talk to my  accounting software? I would love to just write off their “wages”
