Now: building a talent platform at VC as Head of Talent. I help Founders build their core teams to grow their businesses. I work hands-on or as a strategic advisor on all talent and people matters.

My track record: 10 years in building Talent & People functions - vision, strategy, and execution across multiple markets. I was building 4 unicorns in different stages from Series A to E.
Angel Investor & Talent Advisor - partnering with startups’ Founders, C-levels, executives in building hiring strategies & high-performing teams. I grow and multiply businesses.
Hired, led and worked with people in EMEA, LATAM & US. I lived and worked in multiple countries across the globe.

This week is my last as Head of Talent Inovo.vc 🫶🏼
Sharing my 2 years below👇🏼 what I did? how? why?

1. high-level strategy: my choice was to support Founders hands-on in execution, advising only if it came naturally in the context of challenges we face in execution. I believe it's the only way you can deliver impact or value as a VC, understanding Founders/company context deep enough. This is what Founders value and believe in (mostly). Talk is cheap, work is hard. I will never forget Tomas words about that.

2. data summary:
a) 42 closed hiring projects
quality was 8-9/10 rated by Founders (hard af to satisfy bunch 😂) - most of them were exec hires (series A+), founding team (seed or pressed) or key hires to enable the business to grow 
b) 10 supporting projects
advisory, introducing the right agency, helping with org design or interviewing etc
c) 8 paused for various reasons (timing, prios etc)
d) 11 canceled or failed -> this is what hurts, but it's a reality and full picture - mostly I failed bc of the relationship with a Founder and understanding their context. It's on me. I take full ownership. It just wasn't well built up enough - relationship -> context, so I did not have enough quality in the pipe or too complex role/expectations.

3. what I learned as a playbook:
- build a relationship from early on - before we even invest, start working with the Founder/s, get their context, what and how they work
- go to meet them in person - things get faster, desk-to-desk working together is a tool
- start delivering fast - build trust gradually with execution
- set the bar high - what great looks like in the trenches, it's a different story to whiteboard - operationalizing and executing for high quality, is a shared ownership.
- hustle together through failures - lead them calmly through the storm of hiring
- do 1-4 key hires together, then hire together a Talent person, help this person to build the Talent OS -> set them up for success for the next stages of growth
- keep in touch, but let them go on their own journey - put ego aside to move on

4. the adoption is slower than hype; the proper use cases are in building
5. AI-enabled human in the loop is a superpower (look Tytus Gołas post) - AI workflows are killing manual work (e.g. sourcing - who the hell wants to view 25 profiles a page on Linkedin)
