Here’s what I learned during my switch from a service-based company to Microsoft (200% hike) 🚀

SDEs going through such a transition, keep hearing myths and misinformed news that turns out is → completely FALSE. Like 👇

❌ Product companies only need advanced technical skills.
✔️ No, they also value your problem-solving skills and adaptability.

❌ Service company experience doesn’t count in product roles.
✔️ It does, exposure to diverse projects and clients is highly valued.

❌ Switching to top PBCs is “too difficult”
✔️ The learning curve is real I will not lie, but many skills transfer smoothly, project ownership and client-facing experience included.

❌ Product companies care only about coding.
✔️ No again, they also look for strategic thinking, collaboration, and decision-making.

When I made my switch, I didn’t have everything figured out either. 

What helped me was learning from those who had already walked this path, mentors, peers, and having structured guidance.
