Somewhere along the way, doing became your identity.

You kept going.
You kept achieving.
You got really good at pushing.

And the truth is, a lot of people are doing a lot…
just to avoid the discomfort of pausing long enough to ask:

“Is any of this actually working?”

We’ve been taught to chase goals.
To reward busy-ness.
To stay in motion.
But growth doesn’t care how full your calendar is.
Growth starts when you stop long enough to reflect,
reassess, and make a truer choice.

The kind of choice that might disappoint someone.
That might stretch you.
That will be uncomfortable.

But that’s the whole point.

You don’t need to do more.
You need to get honest about what’s worth doing next.

Because real growth doesn’t happen by default.
It happens by decision.
It happens in discomfort.
It happens when you commit to becoming, not just achieving.

When I was 16, my first car was a silver Volkswagen Passat.

Silver (obviously) because of my name.

But also because of what Volkswagen actually means: “the people’s car.” 

I didn’t know that at 16. But I felt it. 

The freedom, the possibility the sense that who I could become mattered just as much as where I was going.

This week in Germany, standing on the keynote stage at the Volkswagen Bootcamp, it all came full circle.

After losing everything and rebuilding from scratch, here’s the one truth I keep coming back to:

Companies don’t grow.
People do.

Growth for companies doesn’t come from the logo.
It doesn't come from another strategy deck.
It doesn't even come from making more business goals (sure they help but that's not the core of it). 

It comes from the humans behind all of it, the ones willing to stretch, question old patterns, get uncomfortable and grow inspire of it all.

And the Volkswagen team gets that.

Their Bootcamp wasn’t just about strategy or KPIs.
It was about people: 26 markets coming together to train, challenge themselves, and commit to who they’re becoming next.

It was about the conversations.
The honesty.
The willingness to invest in something most organizations overlook:
Real connection.
Between real human beings.

The theme was Relationships for Life, and you could feel it in every question, every breakthrough, every moment someone chose growth over comfort.

That’s where transformation actually happens.

That’s where companies evolve through the people courageous enough to go first.
To everyone who showed up fully, honestly, and open to growth… thank you.
