When I first started in IT at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, security wasn’t a buzzword, it was survival ... the first place I heard that now popular phrase, "Security is Job Zero!"

Every day, we were managing 𝙨𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘 𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙖 that couldn’t afford to disappear or be tampered with. I have a 100% record for retaining data through my fifteen years there ... in fact, even when someone accidentally deleted an Irix server backup ... I had another secret backup!

Those early days taught me that security isn’t about firewalls or certificates. It’s about trust; trust between scientists and systems, between business and data ... and of course trust in your IT team!

Since then, across every role, from pharma to medical device companies, and then to founding skyPurple Cloud — one pattern has stayed the same:
