Now it's just a matter of showing up confidently on LinkedIn, so everyone else knows it.

“What happened to you, Sivan?”
“I thought you’d be some hot shot marketer running some big marketing team by now.”
“Where did you disappear to for the last 2 years?”

I’ve been asked versions of those questions a lot lately.
And honestly — I’m still not sure how to answer them.

But I’m grateful to everyone who’s checked in over the last while to ask if things were ok.

The truth is, I never planned to ‘take a break.’
I definitely didn’t mean to disappear.

For over a decade, I invested so much time and effort into building a “brand” and career that seemed successful and strong. I loved the community I built, the people I met, the work that I did.


But then everything in my life unraveled at once, and I didn’t know how to hold it all together. 

The details don’t matter. And they’re not ones I plan to share right now. 

But I understand in hindsight what I didn’t then— that it was too much stress, fear, and responsibility for any one person to manage on their own. 


And no matter how badly I wanted to keep pushing through, keep being productive, keep acting like I was ok… I couldn’t.

At first I thought something must be wrong with me. 

I felt so much shame. 

Why wasn’t I able to just deal with the trauma and pretend like there was no crisis and WORK HARDER. 

But I was so deep in survival mode I couldn’t even remember what it felt like to WANT to create. 


For a long time it felt like I lost everything - my ego, my self identity. 

And when I hit rock bottom, I didn’t know how to say “this is too much. I don’t want to do this.” 

But the reality is that I had to step away from everything - social media, work, being “someone”. 

Because it took everything I had to do the only thing that mattered: being as present and functional as I could for my kids during the most painful and traumatic time in our lives. Taking care of us. And helping us heal. 


Even when everything seemed hopeless, and crazy, and all I wanted to do was give up.
I didn’t. 
I stayed. 

I got up every day. 
And I slowly, painstakingly, started to pick up the shattered pieces of our life to try and put them back together.


Over the last two years, a lot has changed for me. My life looks very different than it did before. 

I’m not the same person I was “before” and I know that will make some people uncomfortable. 

Honestly, sometimes it makes me uncomfortable. 

But one thing that hasn’t changed is that there is still hope inside of me.

I know I have a lot to offer this world, even if it looks different than what I thought. 
And no matter how messed up things get, I choose to live in a world where there is love and there is hope. 

Which is why today, after months of preparations, I started my first year at Reidman College where I’m going back to study somatic psychotherapy. 


There’s more to this story that I want to share when I’m ready, in the hopes that it will help someone else. 


But for today I just wanted to say, I’m still here. 
And for today, that’s enough.
