Prime responsibility to organize, develop, promote and manage recycling programmes. Ensure SWMCOL is compliant with all local environmental regulations. Manage relationships with waste providers and recycling vendors; establish collection schedules and shipments of recycled materials within operational budgets; maintain records and promote statistics on programme effectiveness; interact with agencies and companies to create new markets for waste products and attend meetings and conferences to learn about trends in recycling and related waste management initiatives.
Key Result Areas:
- Provides day to day supervision of the Resource Recovery Operations inclusive of staff
- Coordinate a comprehensive resource recovery programme as part of the company's intergrated solid waste management system, with emphasis on waste reduction through the promotion of recycling, expansion of markets for recycled material and stimulation of community interest in recycling activities. 
- Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the physical property of the operations through inspections and preventative maintenance programmes
-Evaluating employee performance including selecting and training employees
-Assists in the continuous review and improvement of processes and HSE procedures within the department

Resource Recovery Coordinator - Beverage Container Project

1.	Conduct and facilitate risk analyses and implement risk management strategies to mitigate risks and achieve the project objectives.
2.	Develop and maintain effective relationships with all Stakeholders, Contractors, Professionals, Providers, Consultants and Government Agencies to ensure that the project is delivered on time and within budget.
3.	Lead and direct members of the project team to create and sustain a highly productive work environment.
4.	Manage and control budget expenditure and optimise all financial and non-financial resources available.
5.	Strong negotiation skills to ensure that the best and most financially viable resources are
available to the project team.
6.	Ensure the highest safety standards, in keeping with the high safety standards and practices of NQCL.
7.	Effectively manage scope by ensuring changes to scope are documented and approved
8.	Track and report on project milestones and to provide a status report to the sponsor. Complete a post project evaluation to determine how results were achieved
9.	Manage the implementation of a strong quality assurance system with adequate procedures for compliance and conformance to established standards.
10.	Move through all phases of the project – from design to build to completion to sign off.
11.	Assist in sustaining, updating and revising the current Environmental Management System to ensure its effectiveness in relation to our environment.

12.	Keep up to date with legislation, regulations, codes of practice and good practice as it relates to the Environment and rehabilitation.

13.	Conduct internal Environmental Audits and Inspections and prepare relevant reports.

14.	Assist with any other related duties as designated by the Chief Executive Officer and to prepare Monthly Reports.

Environmental Officer

1.	To sustain, update and revise the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System to ensure its effectiveness in relation to our environment.
2.	To plan, coordinate and execute activities (internal & external) for meetings, training programs, etc.
3.	To keep up to date with legislation, regulations, codes of practice and good practice as it relates to the Environment and rehabilitation.
4.	To develop and co-ordinate rehabilitation works of exhausted areas. 
5.	To conduct internal Environmental Audits and Inspections and prepare relevant reports.
6.	To maintain and update the associated findings of an ISO 14001 audit 
7.	To conduct and coordinate as necessary the following environmental monitoring activities and to maintain records of :
•	Total Suspended solids levels in process run-off and run-off from mining operations,in rivers and in the Arima/Blanchisseuse valley.
•	Rehabilitation works.
•	Waste management initiatives 
8.	To conduct other monitoring activities necessary or required by the EMA e.g. CEC, Water Pollution Source Registration and to prepare the relevant reports and surveys
9.	To prepare Monthly progress Reports.
10.	To coordinate the operations of the Water Recycling Plant and the Water treatment programme. 
11. To develop, implement and execute special projects as it pertains to the Environment and land reclamation
12. To conduct scientific and technical research for new environmental projects and initiatives and to serve as Project Manager for those projects

Annie Leonard says this- "there is no such thing as ‘away’. When we throw anything away, it must go somewhere" and I add someone else's responsibility.

I started Siel Environmental because after working for almost 2 decades in waste management,  I saw a need for a different voice to be heard and a different methodology from what is currently being done in Trinidad and Tobago. The same things were being done over and over but nothing was changing - habits remained the same, dumping and littering are still rampant. Plus I have an intimate relationship with waste since a loaded diaper hit me right in the face while swimming with my father at 10 years old. Even then I knew I had to do something.
