As one of the first members of the marketing division at Partner Communications, I was appointed as the Director of Direct Marketing. 

Prior to the launch of the company, I was given the opportunity to thoroughly learn about the Orange brand through Wolff-Olins in London. 

In charge of Partner's pre-launch campaign, I executed an exclusive direct mail campaign that was highly personalized and targeted towards B2B managers and influencers, as well as potential B2C consumers. The mailer offered the opportunity to reserve a phone number on the upcoming first GSM network in Israel. Due to a lack of IT resources for marketing purposes, I had to develop a database and software for saving bulk numbers for both companies and consumers, which was an exciting challenge.

I was responsible for all direct marketing campaigns and strategies, including the selection and implementation of a CRM system and campaign management software solutions. I also provided consulting on data cleansing solutions and developed and maintained strategies for customer retention and churn prevention. 

Additionally, I was a part of the team behind O-Magazine, a lifestyle magazine for Orange customers.

If you work in marketing, chances are you spend a lot of time optimizing your landing pages, pricing models and email marketing programs to attract your target audience and build your email lists. However, there's a problem with this approach that I call the “Leaky Bucket Syndrome" (LBS). 

LBS occurs when you neglect the importance of email deliverability in lead generation, promotion, and nurturing. Email deliverability is often seen as a technical process handled by your email service provider (ESP), but here's the thing: they don't do it all! 

They set up the technical aspects, but optimization is required. While you focus on creating high-converting campaigns to gain more subscribers or sell more, your poorly optimized email deliverability is causing leaks in your bucket. Leads come in but quickly disappear. There are better ways to run a business, especially one that relies on eCommerce. So, how do you fix the Leaky Bucket Syndrome? Just like mixing music, there are several levers you need to adjust to increase the chances of your emails reaching your audience's inboxes instead of the spam folder. Ignoring email deliverability costs you money and makes your efforts to attract leads futile. Can you compare #deliverability between email platforms? ⚖️

Many businesses, when facing deliverability issues, often blame their email platform. They might even say: “Gmail doesn’t like my ESP,” or “this new tool will fix our inbox placement.”

But here’s the truth: comparing deliverability between email platforms isn’t that simple. 

Some ESPs carefully vet senders, group clients into controlled IP pools, and monitor data quality before letting emails fly. Others? Not so much.

Why comparing deliverability between ESPs is almost impossible, and what you should pay attention to instead when choosing a platform.

How do you fix the Leaky Bucket Syndrome?

Ignoring email deliverability costs you a lot of money and forces you to work longer and harder than necessary, making efforts to attract more leads that you soon pour through the holes created by the LBS.
