Why Most Real Estate Marketing in Dubai Doesn’t Bring Leads

Everyone is talking about the “MBC Shahid” rebrand.
 Here’s my Alpha take.
Rebranding Shahid to “MBC Shahid” is a strategic mistake.
Not because MBC is weak but because modern brands grow by moving forward, not by looking back.
Shahid worked because it felt:
 • Digital-first
 • On-demand
 • Future-facing
MBC represents legacy, broadcast, and gravity. Strong gravity but still heavy.
When you attach a fast, digital-native brand to a legacy signal, you don’t strengthen it.
You slow perception down. Every dominant platform learned this:
 Netflix isn’t “Blockbuster Netflix.”
 Spotify isn’t “Sony Spotify.”
Parent brands stay behind the curtain.
Product brands must stand alone.
Shahid already won the hardest battle: mental ownership.
People didn’t say “watch it on MBC.”
They said “watch it on Shahid.”
This rebrand forces a reset and resets are expensive.
Nothing breaks tomorrow.
But long-term, this move trades momentum for comfort.
Modern brands pull organizations forward.
They don’t anchor themselves to the past.
That’s why this was the wrong direction.
