Why such a passion for Remote Work and worker wellbeing? In 2015 my daughter developed severe childhood asthma, so bad that we moved from Dublin, Ireland, to Zaragoza, Spain, to improve her health and also enhance our overall lifestyle as a family. Remote Work enabled that move. Hence my passion for its socioeconomic influence, the power of global mobility and the flexibility it offers. However, I advocate for the need to embrace and use that flexibility wisely with a focus on individual worker wellbeing and work-life-integration:

I take great pride in my projects, workshops and speaking engagements that I deliver, but also in the way I deliver them - the feedback I receive, the trust I build with clients, and the skills enhancement. 

I also look to constantly improve, having recently up-skilled in Mental Health awareness, advocacy and competencies. I have completed 3 Mental Health training courses during 2020-2021; MHFA, i-act for Managers and See Change for Managers. I recently completed a workshop on Unconscious Bias & Inclusive Work Environment.

In the office are the people who *can* commute.
In the office are the people who live within a 30km radius.
In the office are the people who can find and afford childcare.
In the office are the people who are able to access the building. 
In the office are the people who can *tolerate* an office environment.
In the office are the people* who force other people to go to the office.
In the office are the people who can find and afford appropriate caregiving.
In the office are the people who can choose to go to the office (some folx can't)
In the office are the people who can afford the commute, to live near, the costs.
In the office are the people who are in the catchment are = local talent pool.
In the office are the people who are there to be seen aka presence over results. 
In the office are the people who are office workers because of CRE contracts.
(rather than remote workers, putting their lives first and working from where is convenient for them...)

In the office are the people who go there to sit on zoom calls with people in other offices, elsewhere.

In the office are the people who have been conned using a marketing term called "hybrid", invented to make humans compromise while companies continue to put profit and property before people and the planet.

In the office are the people who wonder why they are there, when their job could be done from anywhere?

* supposedly known as leaders, who force attendance to exert control, play with people's lives and practice micro-management as a sport.

In the office are people who - if given a choice - would pick remote work.

In the office are people who can get to and attend said office.

Remember that when you claim to be a forward-thinking-flexible employer.
Plus, you CANNOT say you care about an inclusive workforce, if you don't offer true remote work (ie. NO office ties and therefore not hybrid!).

Only offer hybrid? You are still limiting people and your talent strategy to a 30km radius.

Still forcing people to an office? 
Don't cry when your competitor casts a wider net to capture talent via remote work.

After all, Work Is Not A Place
