My background in OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT and SALES puts me in a unique position to help groups keep the "big picture" in mind and work together to serve each other and the customer.

It has been said that my greatest strength is that I CARE. I care about doing the right thing, working with purpose and operating with the best interests of the customer, fellow associates and the company in mind. 

This helps focus my drive to CUT THROUGH COMPLACENCY. Complacency is all too prevalent in the workplace and leads to missed opportunities and toxic environments.

I work to DEVELOP teams who care about each other, the company, and the customer.

I possess a sharp eye for detail and have a passion for developing ENGAGED employees.

I strive to actively LISTEN to and work with teams to identify CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT opportunities.
We then do the work to vet, promote, analyze, develop support for, and implement those ideas.

Other avenues of engagement include initiating community service events, promoting participation in reward and recognition programs, and providing cross-training opportunities.

A key success has been mentoring and advancing multiple associates from entry level to lead and management positions. 

Keeping an eye on the details, listening to the needs of the customer and working with fellow associates to identify better solutions all help create an environment that shuns complacency.

Experiences in aviation also heavily influence my approach to quality, customer service, process management and product delivery.

In aviation, failure to follow consistent processes, pay attention to the details or adapt to change can yield catastrophic results. My teams regularly delivered 100% SLA on a monthly basis, averaging 99%+ SLA compliance for quality and delivery. 

It is critical to do things right and deliver – on time, every time.

I love it when someone tells it like it is...even if it stings a little. 🐝  😬


John Hark brought a visual reminder exercise and call to action to attendees at the January ITMA - International Transportation Management Association  luncheon here in Houston.

He gently reminded the group of the mission statement to educate, develop, and inspire people to join the industry,

by asking everyone to raise their hands,

then lower them as he called out progressively younger age brackets:

* over 50? 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️

* over 40? 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️

* over 30? 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️

* over 20? 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️

You get the idea...

At the end, there were only 2 or 3 young people left with their hands raised out of the nearly 200 people in the room.

✳️ What a great reminder to include the younger generation in events like this.

I, for one, appreciate the opportunity to fellowship with and learn from others,

and believe too many people take the privilege of events like this for granted.

After all, you get out of it what you put into it. 🤷‍♂️

✴️ Too put it even more bluntly, what some people (only somewhat) jokingly refer to as "rubber chicken" networking lunches,

are new "fine dining experiences" to someone hungry to learn and expand their network horizons.

✳️ Cyril Varghese with Fluor Corporation brought an EXCELLENT presentation on the 2026 EPC market outlook,

with a special message of encouragement for the younger generation in the room also. 

It was a privilege to even be in the same room with many of the folks in attendence. 🙂

Enjoyed hearing from Chad Burke with the Economic Alliance Houston Port Region,

at the Transportation Club of Houston (TCH) January luncheon.

The HubTrucker, Inc. warehouse and yard is located right by the Port of Houston, 

so I was keenly interested to hear what he had to say about the investments in infrastructure and transportation projects in the area.

Plus - it is always fun to see friends in the industry and celebrate their new job opportunities with them, as rising tides lift all ships. ⬆️ 🚢 😁

"Industrial Momentum" - what a great name looking forward in 2026! 😅


Had to smile as the SAL Intermarine vessel passed by us the other day, 

as the name of it seemed especially fitting for my outlook for 2026.

🚢 🚛 📦 🔭😅

It also made me grateful for groups like ITMA - International Transportation Management Association,

because only a few short months ago I had a great conversation with the president of Intermarine Richard Seeg at the monthly luncheon.

(How cool is THAT? 😎)

The memory of that conversation made seeing the ship that much more personal,

and feeling extra grateful for groups like ITMA,

the privilege to attend these monthly luncheons when I can,

and to be even a small part of the wide world of logistics. 🚛 😄

How would YOU interpret this? 🤔



I wrote the following on my coworkers white board as part of our impromptu sales team pep talk, saying we've got to:

B +

B #

Them:

I get we need to "Be Positive", but what is "Be Pound" supposed to mean?

Me: 

"Be Pound"?!? What? That is supposed to mean "Be Sharp".

As in, we have to "Be Sharp" out there. 😆

(I am naturally...but it is my last name after all. 😂)

✴️ For all my non-musician friends, the sharp symbol "#" is used to indicate the pitch of a note is raised a half-step.

So, while "B # = Be Sharp" made perfect sense to me, 

it didn't to my non-musical friend at the moment...but they weren't wrong either.

"Be Pound"

✳️ How often do we look at the same thing as others but see something completely different, you know?

That being said - 

"Be Pound" works for sales also,

as in we gotta get out there and "Be Pound-ing the pavement".🚶‍♂️😂😂😂

So, thanks to THEM for helping ME see an additional interpretation. 😆

Isn't THAT the truth! 😂

✳️ In his book "Eat What You Kill: Becoming A Sales Carnivore", Sam Taggart speaks to this idea,

but not necessarily in the way you might think. 🧏‍♂️

✴️ Sure, there are negotiations, addressing objections, getting past gatekeepers that are all part of contact in the sales game,

but the idea of "sales is a contact sport" also means this:

✅️ You have to contact people in order to play the game:

- In person
- Phone
- Email

The point is to keep a focus on reaching out and engaging with people. 😄

You have to make contacts in order to sell, to keep the pipeline full and moving.

✴️ It has been a great week of networking, visiting with clients, and identifying new opportunities - making contacts. 😉
