As I relocate to the UAE and start this new chapter in my life, it also means that after an amazing journey with Connectd, I’ll be leaving the company.

When I first started my career, I doubted myself constantly. I wasn’t sure if I belonged in corporate, if I was capable, or if I could handle the pressure. I started as a BDR, worked hard, learned from mistakes, and proved to myself that I could do more. From BDR to Account Executive and then  Senior Account Executive, I owe so much to Connectd for trusting me, giving me room to grow, and allowing me to show what I’m capable of.

I especially want to thank Kutay Saygı, my first coach during my time as a BDR at the company. Such a talented yet humble person, I owe a lot of my progress to him. It feels surreal to even say it out loud. 

Leaving London, my comfort zone, my routines, everything familiar, is terrifying but exciting. 

Every successful person I’ve listened to says the same thing…
“get out of your hometown” 
I’m finally doing that.

I don’t have everything planned, but I’m very excited to see what living and working in this new city will teach me.

This is the start of a new chapter, not just geographically but mentally. I want to document the journey, the wins, the challenges, and everything in between so anyone following along can see what it really takes to make the leap.

𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁.

Back home, everyone talked about networking…
But when it actually came down to it,

it always felt awkward.
Almost invasive.
Like you were being too forward or trying too hard.

I could never figure out if I was overthinking it
or if that was just the London cool, nonchalant attitude

Dubai is the opposite.

Here, networking feels expected.
It is normal to meet someone randomly and grab coffee the next day.

People want to connect, collaborate, and help each other win.
There’s this shared understanding that success here often comes from community.

And it has genuinely made me rethink what networking means.

𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳.

𝟵𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲.
My dad is an actor.
My mum is an artist.

So choosing a different path felt pretty terrifying.

I loved being around creatives, but I never knew who I was in that world. Everyone had their thing. I had a lot of interests but no real direction. And because I didn’t know myself, I kept trying on everyone else’s identity.

Stepping into the corporate world changed that in a way I didn’t expect.
Sales gave me clarity.
Structure.
Proof of progress.

𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝗜 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝘁. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁, 𝗺𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻’𝘁.

Growing up, the 9 to 5 was always looked down on. Everyone wanted to be the young entrepreneur. But not everyone needs that path. Some of us find ourselves through stability, not chaos.

𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱.
𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲.

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝗿:

1. The UAE market is relationship driven. Winning people emotionally matters as much as numbers.

2. In person interactions go a long way. Attend industry events, meet people face to face, and build trust.

3. Understand the local business culture. Even the small things like tone and communication style make a difference.

4. Patience is a strategy. Deals take longer but building trust now pays off later.

I’m learning a lot and trying to adapt my approach every day.
