Recipe for a Happy New Year

Take 12 fine, full-grown months. 

See that these are thoroughly free from old memories of bitterness, rancor and hate.

 Cleanse them completely from every clinging spite. 

Pick off all specks of pettiness and littleness. 

In short, see that these months are freed from all of the past. 

Have them as fresh and clean as when they first came from the great storehouse of time. 

Cut each month into 31, 30, or 28 equal parts. 

Do not attempt to make up the whole batch at one time. (So many people spoil the entire lot this way.) Instead, prepare one day at a time. 

Into each day put equal parts of faith, patience, courage, work, hope, fidelity, liberality, kindness, rest, prayer, meditation, and one well-selected resolution. 

Put in about one teaspoonful of good spirits, a dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of good humor.

Enjoy your year!

Every day is an opportunity to have a fresh start. It does not matter what happened yesterday; all that counts is today. When you wake up in the morning, know that today is full of opportunities. It is a new day, a new start.

Today is a blank slate, take the lessons from any mistakes and move on. Do not beat yourself up. We are all here learning as we go. Be kind to yourself. Be gentle with your thoughts. Exhale out the harsh ones and replace them with positive and encouraging dialogue.

Start fresh. Take a deep breath and welcome all you desire. It can be inner peace, joy, laughter, or anything else your heart & mind is calling for. Let go of self-doubt and worry. Start looking at the world around you, at your life for all the possibilities it represents rather than what could go wrong.

Live in the present moment starting today. If you are still at home, be fully at home rather than already at the office in your mind. If you are commuting, be fully there rather than already at your desk tackling your to do list.

Every moment you can choose a mindset that either causes you anxiety or inner peace. And even if you unconsciously choose anxiety for a little while, once you realize it, make it a fresh start and choose inner peace.
