World Youth Heart Federation

Since the past two years I wanted to work on inter sectoral collaboration and youth empowerment in the field of cardiovascular health. Made several plans and designs but wasn’t satisfied. 

The lockdown helped me give more time to look into myself and work on my dreams. This led to the birth of The World Youth Heart Federation in March 2020, We envision it to become an umbrella federation with several National Chapters as a part of it. With the grace of god the national team for India is finally complete and we shall start our activities in the upcoming weeks. I would like to thank everyone who has joined to be a part of this exciting journey! 

According to WHO each year 17.9 million lives are lost because of cardiovascular diseases which is undoubtedly the number one cause of death globally. This highlights the need to tackle this situation in a holistic fashion to the best of our abilities. And hence a shoutout to the youth who will be the future pillars of this world to start taking action. 

The mission of the Federation is to foster collaboration among youth across all sectors worldwide, Create awareness about cardiovascular health diseases and Catalyse work towards CVH health education, entrepreneurship, advocacy, research and technology.

Priyansh Shah is an aspiring Global Cardiovascular Health Specialist and a social entrepreneur. He is currently Intern Doctor at Baroda Medical College, India. He is the Founder and President of the World Youth Heart Federation, a social enterprise. It is the first youth led organisation in the world that tackles a targeted healthcare problem by intersectoral or ecosystem approach. He is currently a Global Surgery research fellow at WHOCC for for Research in Surgical Care Delivery in LMIC. His work in Global Health began in 2018 when he was elected as the National Officer for Public Health at the Medical Students’ Association of India. They conducted over 10 National Public Health Campaigns and reached out to over 23,000 people. His journey with Global Surgery and Incision started in 2019 when he became a part of the international fundraising team. Currently he is working as the Vice President for Finances at InciSioN. He believes that Health Financing is not only a major building block of UHC but an indispensable aspect of Global Surgery.

In the creative world, He has been the chief organiser and licensee of TEDxMSUniversityofBaroda. He has acted in a large number of plays/concerts/short movies since his school days. In 2019 a short movie on World TB Day that he acted in won the first prize in India.
