Last night, TALiNT Partners hosted the 𝗧𝗜𝗔𝗥𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 at the stunning Royal Lancaster London, bringing together some of the leading organisations in the recruitment industry for a wonderful evening of celebration.
The ever-professional Alex Evans and Sarah Arnold expertly hosted the ceremony and didn’t even flinch when the stage was unexpectedly invaded by an elephant, a fun and memorable moment, courtesy of Kitto.

We were back in London yesterday, this time visiting the lovely SWAN venue for the TALiNT Partners M&A Lunch and Learn, to explore the new valuation of growth drivers in recruitment.
The event was all about bringing together leaders from a variety of staffing, search and talent businesses to hear from our guest speakers and expert panelists. 

Alex Evans started the day with providing an update on trends in the Talent Market. Next on the agenda was the very informative Will Winch partner from Mishcon de Reya LLP who provided the room with an update on the Employment Rights Bill and how this will impact recruiters and employers. Will expertly presented a complex and ever evolving area and highlighted the importance of recruiters who can provide compliant, contingent workforce solutions.     

Geraint Rowe from Gambit Corporate Finance LLP provided many positive insights during his presentation including.  
💡 The world's second largest market is the human capital sector and it is a very resilient sector 
💡 The UK is the second biggest market for Human Capital M&A 
💡 2024/2025 has been the shake out of over hiring during covid 
💡 2025 has seen the Perm market bottom out and the contractor market is strengthening. 
💡 Staffing businesses that are agile are doing well 

Geraint also shared some of the areas to focus on when going through an M&A activity.
✅ If using AI you will need to ensure you adhering to legislation and compliance regarding Agentic AI and data
✅  KPIs will be focused on in detail
✅ Being niche drives value, specialisms always drives a higher multiple
 
💡 If you want to successfully exit an M&A process data is king!
💡 The 2026 market predictions are that Human Capital is an improving market

Our expert guest panelists hosted by Alex Evans focused on strategic drivers of value creation and growth and shared some valuable insights during the discussion. 

Bev White the executive chair of Nash Squared shared the importance of good data and to always have on your radar what is next to ensure you are  best in class! She also discussed the benefits of proprietary v off the shelf for AI and tech. 

Andrew Larholt QXi Montash discussed how their nearshoring and hybrid recruiting model has enabled them to grow year on year. The adoption of AI within the business has also enabled them to save 2 hours of productivity on every job they register. 

James Strickland TMX Group explained how data is also top of their agenda and that data led advisory had generated over $80m of new business in the US and that the best founders are the ones who want to run a process properly.  

Other topics covered during the discussion included the benefits of EMI and the value add of having fractional c suite roles.

It was great to meet so many of our members and guests and to continue the discussions that our guest speakers and panelists had started over lunch.

The wonderful new Grant Thornton UK offices provided the perfect back drop for this morning’s breakfast session for TALiNT Partners Executive Search Forum on the theme of Innovation in remuneration. Insights were shared by our guest expert Simon Patterson Farient Advisors LLC and Bilal Khan. 

Some of the key takeaways from todays Forum:

💡 Since 2001, UK IPOs have dropped by approximately 95% and 2,700 UK companies are waiting for an exit.
💡 Simon Patterson shared a 5-point plan for how the UK can better align with global markets
💡 There are more female leaders of remuneration committees than male
💡 Female representation on FTSE boards has grown from 9.5% in 2011 to over 43% by 2024

 Perspectives on incentives and M&A:

✳️ There has been more caution in the PE space 
✳️ Deals have remained resilient within Exec search and where an 
organisation has international exposure
✳️ When consultants have equity or EMI options investors will view this 
positively 
✳️ Investors will be looking to see how the consultant base is incentivised 
for the long term

Advice for Exec Search organisations:
✴️ Have conversations with your management teams that holding periods 
are longer 
❇️ PEs will be looking for who will be the management team in the future 
and what is the value proposition 
✴️ Investors will look at your EBITDA growth for the last 3 years for a proxy 
of growth 
✳️ Look at what can be relied on for the next 5 years so take out unusual activity to establish what growth can be relied upon, break this down by client base and geography
✴️ For top billers share schemes are rarely valued as much as commission and bonus 
✳️ Incentivise top billers through interesting work, a powerful, non-financial incentive

We had another great event on Wednesday at the Swan, this time we were bringing together 30 industry leaders and advisors for our 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗠&𝗔 𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻.
 
 Our partner expert Philip Ellis from OPTIMA CORPORATE FINANCE LIMITED kicked off the the morning by sharing why there has been an increase in talent tech M&A deals.
 
 There were many insights shared and some great takeaways on building value and profitable growth during a great panel session hosted by Alex Evans with Karen Thomas-Bland, Kalpesh Baxi and Alex Hanson-Smith. 
 
My key takeaways from the day was the key role that procurement is playing when it comes to investing in AI and tech and the understanding that Procurement is more involved now than ever before. 
 
Chris Mooney from Marriott Harrison shared advice on helping to mitigate AI risk and highlighted the importance of making positive procurement decisions to help eliminate the use of shadow AI. Chris emphasised that if procurement takes the lead on responsible AI adoption and keeps the rest of the business informed, it can really help stop shadow AI from creeping in.
 
 Procurement needs to ensure: 
  💡 Do your due diligence before implementing any AI tools.
  💡 Review contracts to make sure you’re protected under new AI legislation
  💡 Know where your data comes from and how it’s being used
  💡 Understand where your AI is hosted and who’s responsible for it
  💡 Have a clear AI policy in place
  💡 Deliver internal training so teams know how to use AI effectively
  💡 Protect your data and IP, they are valuable assets
  💡 Carry out supplier due diligence and cover all potential risks
  💡 Keep strong human oversight in every AI-driven process
  💡 Use an AI questionnaire for suppliers to assess compliance and capability
 
 ✴️ Procurement is a key player in helping a business to use AI safely, ethically and strategically.
