This is me. 2 years ago. Stepping into competition barely a year after I’d started the sport. And it has a lot to do with the challenge I recently started: reach 1m arr in 60 days (currently 582k).

Few people know this about me. 

But I am a sport crackhead.

Kick-boxing. powerlifting. swimming. football. 

At my peak i trained 30hours/week.

And each time I tried to reach competition level. 

Did it for 2 reasons: 

1. i am obsessed with winning. 
2. i am obsessed with self improvement

Every morning felt like a countdown. 

Every rep, every meal, every minute of sleep mattered.

There’s something there no textbook can teach.

Discipline. Consistency. Ownership.

And yet so many variables out of your control.

Everything to shut the ego and enter a flow state. 

I started the $1M arr in 60 days challenge for this:

Purposeful hustle. Moving toward a goal. 

Unreachable…maybe. 

But the transformation is worth more than the final destination. 

We’re day 12 and I’ve already grown a ton.

Here are 4 things i learned in this sprint:

1- Projections assume a perfect world. But perfect worlds don’t exist. It’s just you, the mess, and what you do next.

2- Numbers don’t lie. You either succeed or fail. There’s no subjective fake excuses that will help you get there.

3- Not all money is good money. Taking the wrong clients just to hit $1M would poison the business long term.

4- Putting a revenue milestone and a deadline publicly is perfect to stress test yourself, your company, and your systems.

I met a founder who does “Inbox Zero”

So I showed him this: 

He answers all emails received

and as he’s from YC i can tell you

he receives 200 a day

he asked me the other day 

“othmane do you have an idea to make this stop?” 

i showed him 2 things: 

1. the revenue graph for Earleads
2. the unopened emails on my inboxes

and told him:

“you think someone will share some mystical information that will help you reach PMF. no one will. information at your stage comes from action. aka: building and talking to customers.”

ps: i got this founder’s attention by sharing valuable content. not by spraying 10,000 cold emails a day

pps: yes i have +28,000 unanswered emails and i still sleep like a baby…

Different rules. Yet playing the same game...

Unpopular opinion: GTM Engineer is the most misunderstood role in B2B right now and it's because 90% of people calling themselves that are just mid SDRs with Clay access.

So to get this straight out of the way, sending 10,000 cold emails with 4 {{variables}} and knowing how to build clay tables doesn’t make you a GTM engineer.

Just by analyzing the word it should be obvious but I guess it’s not. Go-to-market means making a product find its market (distribution). Engineer means building robust systems that outlive us through stress testing and close monitoring (orchestration & execution).

In other words, an actual go-to-market engineer analyzes a sales funnel, benchmarks what competitors are doing, defines clear hypotheses, and builds the systems needed to orchestrate and execute the strategy.

They’re not sales ops. They’re not marketers. They’re the missing layer that turns ideas into scalable, measurable systems.

A GTM engineer takes intuition from founders and operators and translates it into repeatable workflows that generate revenue.

And yes, they shouldn’t be doing that alone. They should work closely with marketing, sales, and revops. But they become the heart of the information coming from each department. It’s the layer that reconciles everyone with the same data and plan.

If you’ve ever tried to launch a new channel or iterate a broken outbound motion, you know this role matters. Without it, marketing blames sales, sales blames marketing, and nothing compounds.

Sending cold emails using Clay with fake personalization is not GTM engineering. It just means you gave a mid SDR a dangerous tool to exacerbate their lack of skills.

Real GTM engineers don’t automate chaos. They build a motion to make you stand as the signal in the noise.

I am a strong advocate of Lindy effects (what passes through time proves to be right) and having analyzed 100s of anti-fragile systems I can tell you this job title isn’t an anomaly.

It’s not a replacement either. Just an inevitable evolution. As the GTM stack keeps exploding (AI, signals, automations…) someone needs to orchestrate the system end-to-end.

Revenue or tools alone won’t build that future. Only someone who can create interoperability and real-time connectivity between systems will.

These startups have one superpower: SPEED. While others debate, they decide. They deeply understand that waiting has a price tag.

5) They heavily invest in their GTM

They treat GTM like engineering: systematic, experimental, and compounding. They obsess over message-market resonance as much as product-market fit.

They run micro-tests weekly, measure signal density, and continuously refine their ICP narrative until conversion feels inevitable.

While most founders are still polishing features, these ones are building content engines, outbound systems, and ad loops that work together.

Everyone in the GEO industry is straight up selling garbage to companies. Here are 3 things to check before giving your $$$:

1) Is the company running requests on the api of chatgpt/perplexity/claude or directly in the conversational ui?

results are not the same and 99% of those companies are only checking api results.

you want to pop in the chat. that’s where your users are. 

2) What actionable insights the tool is actually giving?

if it’s just keyword optimization or blog articles generation then again this won’t have any tangible impact on revenue. 

an ai article is not gonna increase conversion. even if it were to rank. 

and you don’t have to pay a software to tell you need to invest in your seo. that’s common sense.

3) Do you have an operational team to act upon insights?

if you can’t allocate at least 1-2h per day then forget about it.

i mean come on. people are already struggling to automate industries that been around forever.

and you buy the promise of « geo on autopilot ». an industry that’s been there for what? 6 months??? 

please comon sense come back…
