I saw how fear and risk-aversion can block innovation, frustrate engaged employees, and stall revenue and growth - long before I entered the workforce.

As a teenager, I watched my father propose to embed software into his employer’s hardware - years before digital transformation became critical.

The idea was gold. But it was too unfamiliar, too “risky” for a company built to make and sell sensors.

My dad left to build his own business. 

Thirteen years later, his former employer acquired it.

That full-circle moment led me to believe: organizations don’t fail from lack of talent or ideas. They stumble because legacy systems, bureaucracy, politics, and fear block entrepreneurial energy.

The cost?

Lost customer trust. Lost talent. Lost relevance.

I’ve seen these patterns across contexts:
⛔ In SMEs, where legacy metrics and tradition blocked innovation
⛔ At global enterprises, where 13-signature approvals stalled momentum

1) Lean Startup - die Methode mit massivem Lerneffekt

✅ Möglichst viele Interviews mit (potenziellen) Kundinnen und Kunden sind entscheidend, um früh deren Bedürfnisse und Beweggründe zu verstehen.

✅ Erst verkaufen, dann (weiter) bauen: Als Jobeagle mit der Valiant Bank AG den ersten Kunden gewann, gab es noch kein fertiges Produkt. Nicht einmal das Pricing war final. Doch das - entscheidende - Kunden-Interesse war da.

✅ LOIs (Letters of Intent) helfen, echtes Kunden-Commitment sicherzustellen - statt sich auf reine Aussagen zu verlassen.


2) Team

⏩ Einer der wichtigsten Erfolgsfaktoren.

⏩ Die Vision muss gemeinsam getragen werden.

⏩ Einstellung und Commitment müssen stimmen.


3) Wachstum und Investoren

Wenn möglich zuerst ‘bootstrappen’ - also eigenfinanziert wachsen, um unabhängig, flexibel und entscheidungsfähig zu bleiben. 

Darum:

🚀 So früh wie möglich Umsatz generieren, allenfalls auch über begleitende, (noch) nicht skalierbare Dienstleistungen.

🚀 Sich ehrlich fragen, ob und wofür externes Kapital wirklich nötig ist.

🚀 Investoren müssen gut zum Unternehmen passen.
