- Primary point of contact for assigned client base resulting in nearly zero client churn.

There’s a fine line between confidence and overconfidence… and most of us learn it the hard way.

The problem?

 Overconfidence often looks like strength…
 but it feels like tension - for everyone in the room.

And most of the time although it feels like it, it’s not arrogance at all.
It’s fear wearing a very tired mask.

I was really guilty of this early in my career.

Right out of college, I was selling corporate travel solutions to founders and CEOs.

Picture 20-something-year-old me, sitting across from seasoned executives, thinking:
“They’re never going to take me seriously.”

So I did what my mom always said:
“Fake it till you make it.”
(Still not sure that was great advice 😅)

I tried to sound like I had all the answers.

I acted confident - like “I’ve-got-this-completely-handled” confident.
Meanwhile, I was silently praying no one would ask how old I actually was.

And looking back?

I’m certain I came across as arrogant…
when really, I was just terrified they’d see how young and inexperienced I was.

That experience taught me something I wish I’d learned sooner:
👉 Real confidence doesn’t need a performance.
👉 It doesn’t need to know everything.
👉 And it definitely doesn’t need to pretend.

Real confidence is quiet.
Real confidence is grounded.
Real confidence is authentic.

It’s built from doing the reps, keeping the promises you make to yourself, and letting go of the exhausting idea of being perfect.

Because the leaders who stand the tallest…
are the ones who don’t need to stand over anyone.

If you’ve been hiding behind perfection, here’s your reminder:

You don’t need to be flawless to be worthy.
Your authenticity is what earns trust, not the mask.

Some gifts land softly… and somehow say everything you needed to hear.

Conner Krizancic surprised me with this candle at our leadership retreat - along with a very thoughtful handwritten note (that I’ll likely keep forever).

It reminded me of something we don’t talk about enough in leadership:

Gratitude hits different when it’s specific, intentional, and personal.

Not a passing “thanks.”
Not a Slack emoji.
 
But a pause - a real one - to acknowledge the people you simply couldn’t do this without.

The people who show up when it’s messy.

The ones who carry more than their share without being asked.
The ones who make things better… wherever they go.

This thanksgiving season has me reflecting on how rare it is for leaders to slow down long enough to say it, in a meaningful way.

So here’s the gentle nudge I needed, and maybe you do too:

When was the last time you stopped and truly told your team what they mean to you?

Not because it’s Thanksgiving.
Not because it’s expected.
But because none of us build anything meaningful alone.

To every person who makes the work lighter, the days better, and the mission possible...

Thank you.

And we couldn’t do it without you.

Most “marketing problems” aren’t marketing problems at all.

Referrals show up out of nowhere.

Momentum becomes almost effortless - not because you're working harder, but because the product actually resonates.

That’s the quiet truth behind so many businesses that finally “take off”. 🚀 

It wasn’t better marketing.
It was better alignment.

So before pulling the louder levers, ask the softer question:

Is this truly a marketing issue… or is the product–market fit off?

One answer leads to more noise.

The other leads to traction.
