Building business and building a family taught me something I didn’t expect......

How to Build a Team That Actually Cares

AI is moving faster than our ability to question it.

And most leadership teams still aren’t ready.

I spent the afternoon at the Data Cubed Innovation day where we got a front-row seat to the next era of risk, responsibility and potential.

We explored:

 ➡️ The State of AI Readiness + Data Maturity in UK SMEs (2025). 
 ➡️ A visual map of the world’s largest data breaches. 
 ➡️ The sprawling MAD landscape of ML, AI and data tools. 
 ➡️ Insights from the World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report. 

But the conversation that landed the hardest?

A brilliant talk from my friend Dr. Kion Ahadi on Ethical Innovation; one that made the whole room pause.

“Technology doesn’t define our destiny. We do.”

He left us with a challenge:

🧭 Get clear on what we stand for
🧠 Put people at the centre of what we build
 ⚖ Match big vision with real responsibility
 🔐 Design systems that earn, not expect, our trust.

And here’s what struck me:

We have more tools than ever.
Now we need the leadership, intention, and trust to use them wisely.

It’s not AI that threatens our future.
It’s a workforce and a leadership class, not built for change.
