Box 3 is hét bewijs dat Nederland zijn eigen bevolking steeds verder uitknijpt. Het maakt niet uit of je jaren hebt gewerkt, gespaard of risico hebt genomen, zodra je iets hebt opgebouwd, word je gezien als een melkkoe die nog net iets harder kan worden leeggetrokken. 

De (r)overheid verzint een fictief rendement dat totaal losstaat van de werkelijkheid, en jij mag betalen alsof je rijker wordt terwijl je in werkelijkheid misschien verlies draait.

Dit alles past in een groter plaatje:
we leven in een tijdperk dat ik moderne slavernij noem.
Niet met kettingen, maar met regels, belastingen, druk, controles en een overheid die steeds dieper in je leven grijpt. Je mag werken, bijdragen, gehoorzamen, maar zodra je zelf iets weet op te bouwen, wordt het tegen je gebruikt.

En mensen zijn het zat.
Steeds meer Nederlanders vertrekken naar landen waar ze meer vrijheid, minder belastingdruk en meer zeggenschap ervaren. 

Ja, landen als Polen en Hongarije. En eerlijk? Ik begrijp dat inmiddels heel goed. We doen hier in Nederland graag alsof leiders zoals Orbán gevaarlijke extremisten zijn, maar voor veel gewone mensen is het simpel: ze zien daar wél betaalbaarheid, wél rust, wél ruimte om te leven. En dat zegt iets over hoe ver Nederland is afgedwaald.

Onder het mom van “bescherming” en “vooruitgang” worden burgers in de tang gehouden, terwijl de overheid miljarden laat verdwijnen in inefficiënte instanties, falend beleid en bureaucratie die niets oplevert. En Box 3 is slechts één van de vele voorbeelden.

Nederland staat op de rand van de afgrond, niet door haar inwoners, maar door een overheid die het contact met de realiteit volledig kwijt is. Het is tijd voor transparantie. Het is tijd voor beter bestuur.

En vooral: het is tijd om op te houden met het uitknijpen van een bevolking die al lang genoeg heeft gegeven.

Na lang nadenken heb ik een besluit genomen dat mijn leven opnieuw vorm gaat geven: ik verhuis naar Spanje.

Veel mensen kennen mijn persoonlijke situatie. Ik ben destijds in Goor komen wonen omdat het moest, niet omdat ik dat zelf wilde. Ik deed het voor mijn kinderen. 

Maar de afgelopen jaren heb ik ervaren hoe ingewikkeld het in Nederland kan zijn om als vader écht aanwezig te zijn. Het systeem voelt voor mij niet als iets waar ik nog onderdeel van wil of kán zijn.

Dat besef heeft mij doen besluiten om Nederland achter me te laten. Het voelt als een opluchting, een nieuw hoofdstuk waarin ik mijn leven opnieuw kan opbouwen, vrijer en met meer perspectief.

Mijn woning komt beschikbaar.
Voor wie geïnteresseerd is: mijn twee-onder-één-kap woning in Goor komt binnenkort op Funda. 

Een prachtige woning met:
- Een tuin op het zuiden
- Een mooie uitbouw/serre
- 3 slaapkamers
- Eigen parkeerplaats
- Een nette afwerking

Vraagprijs wordt €375.000, maar bij een goed bod van €400.000 hoeft hij Funda niet eens te halen.

Stuur me gerust een bericht, maar alleen als je écht geïnteresseerd bent.

In Spanje huur ik straks een villa voor ongeveer de helft van wat ik nu aan hypotheek betaal. Voor mij is dit een logische stap richting vrijheid, rust en een gezondere toekomst.

Liever was ik zelfs buiten Europa gegaan, maar vanuit Spanje kan ik in ieder geval nog de auto pakken en naar mijn familie rijden wanneer dat nodig is.

Ik ben klaar met Nederland, en klaar voor een nieuw leven.

“Closers.” Alleen al dat woord…
Kreeg laatst een bericht:
“Hé Niels, ik heb een closer die héél hard wil knallen. Mag ik je nummer sturen?”

En eerlijk, ik haat dat woord.
Niemand zit te wachten op een “closer”. Niemand wil “geclosed” worden.

Dat hele setter-en-closer-spel doet me denken aan boilerrooms, Wolf of Wall Street-taferelen en snelle jongens die denken dat verkopen hetzelfde is als iemand klem praten.

En alsof dat nog niet genoeg was, kwam er meteen een tweede bericht:
“Ik zoek investeerders voor vastgoedprojecten. Heb jij interesse?”

Dus eerst doen alsof je me wilt “helpen”… en vervolgens proberen iets te slijten.
Dit is precies waarom sales zo’n slechte naam heeft gekregen. Zó nep.

Ik heb maar een voice message gestuurd:
Ik geloof niet in closers.
Ik geloof in mensen helpen met échte problemen, wanneer zíj daar klaar voor zijn. Niet pushen. Niet klemzetten. Geen scripts. Geen “objection handling” alsof je een robot bent.

En ja, als je een krantenabonnement verkoopt voor DPG Media, oké, misschien werkt “closing” daar.

Maar in cybersecurity? Of waar dan ook waar vertrouwen, expertise en lange-termijnrelaties belangrijk zijn?
Kansloos.

Misschien ligt het aan mij, maar die termen als setter, closer, high ticket closer… Ik vind het de karikatuur van wat modern sales níet zou moeten zijn.

En ondertussen lijkt het alsof de halve wereld óf high-ticket-closer is óf in dropshipping zit.
Zijn er meer mensen die hier een hekel aan hebben?

Ik zoek geen closers.
Ik zoek goede security-adviseurs die klanten écht kunnen helpen, niet mensen die deals willen “dichtklappen”.

Benieuwd hoe anderen hiernaar kijken. Is het tijd dat we stoppen met dat Wall-Street-wannabe-gedrag en teruggaan naar gewoon: eerlijk helpen, waarde leveren, relaties bouwen?

I have a sixpack at 37, not because of shortcuts, but because I show up every damn day.

Shortcuts don’t exist. Not in the gym, not in business, not in sales.

And yet… people keep looking for the magic pill.

Today I spoke with a security company. They ran a CISO survey.
More than 50 CISOs filled it in.
And guess how many they followed up with?
Zero.

But they did tell me they “needed new AI leads.”
Come on.
You have 50 CISOs who literally raised their hand, and you’re waiting for a chatbot to save you?

AI messages aren’t selling for you.
Automation isn’t selling for you.
Fancy sales titles aren’t selling for you.
Showing up is.

Sales is simple:
- Follow up
- Build relationships
- Talk to humans
- Keep your promises
- Be visible and personal
Not with polished AI garbage.
Not with “Hi {FirstName} I came across your profile.”
If I can smell the automation, I don’t even reply.

Cold calling isn’t dead.
Content calling is king.
Reach out to people who actually engage with you. Stay top of mind. Be real.

Security companies have amazing solutions, and most will still fail.
Not because of their tech, but because they’re afraid of the grind.

Same as the gym.
You want results?
There’s no filter.
No Photoshop.
No miracle pill.
Just the hard work everyone else avoids while they’re drinking beer after work.

Show up. Every. Damn. Day.

Oh and btw, normally I don’t go with a phone to the gym.

Femke Halsema of Femke Falsema? Het rapport van de ombudsman is vernietigend.

Femke Halsema is nooit gekozen door de inwoners van Amsterdam. Niet echt iets wat bij een democratie past, toch? Dit roept bij mij een paar fundamentele vragen op:

Hebben burgermeesters eigenlijk nog wel zin in ons kleine landje?

Waarom hebben we er zoveel nodig, en wat is de toegevoegde waarde van al die kettingen en ceremoniële functies?

Het lijkt soms alsof ze vooral een verlengstuk van de staat zijn, bedoeld om burgers te controleren. Maar in theorie zouden ze een burgemeester, een meester van de burgers moeten zijn.

Het recent verschenen rapport van de ombudsman laat zien dat er op meerdere vlakken tekortkomingen zijn. En toch bekleedt Halsema deze positie, een functie waarvoor je tastbare prestaties en leiderschapskwaliteiten zou verwachten. Hoe kan het dat iemand die niet door het volk is gekozen en volgens velen weinig bereikt heeft, zo’n rol krijgt?

Ik hoor uiteenlopende meningen, van “complotdenken” tot serieuze aanwijzingen over betrokkenheid m.b.t. Bodegraven.

Mijn vraag aan mijn netwerk: hoe denken jullie hierover? Is dit een systeemprobleem, een kwestie van persoonlijke competentie, of iets anders? Hoe zou een democratie eigenlijk moeten functioneren in zo’n situatie?

Oké, ik heb besloten om mijn huis te verkopen.
Maar zodra je dat doet, kom je er meteen achter hoe bizar het systeem eigenlijk is opgebouwd.

Funda is namelijk een gesloten ecosysteem. Je kunt er als particulier niet zomaar op. Je moet een aangesloten (lees: NVM) makelaar hebben. Niet omdat dat waarde toevoegt… maar omdat het verdienmodel zo is ingericht.

En dat in een land waar we een woningtekort hebben, maar wél een overdaad aan makelaars. Vraag en aanbod ken ik, ik werk in tech en security, ik weet hoe markten functioneren. Maar dit systeem voelt niet als marktwerking. Het voelt als een kunstmatig gecreëerd monopolie.

Je hebt dan twee opties:
- Een internetmakelaar die voor €600 “je foto’s online zet”;
- Of de lokale makelaar die rustig €3000 vraagt voor precies hetzelfde loket waar je verplicht doorheen moet.

En zo houden we in Nederland eindeloos veel inefficiënte verdienmodellen in stand. Puur omdat het kan. Puur omdat het systeem zo is gebouwd. En dát is precies waarom het leven hier steeds duurder wordt.

Ik vraag me serieus af…
- Hoe noemen we dit nog anders dan een monopolie?
- En waarom grijpt niemand in?

⚠️ Laid off… but still not allowed to work? How is this even legal in 2025?
A while ago I posted about the mass layoffs at Verizon.

Today I received a message from someone who worked 24 years at the company. Laid off.

And yet… blocked by a non-compete from working in the same industry.
Read that again.

Imagine losing your job after decades of loyalty, and being told you must sit on the sidelines while your industry moves on without you. No income, no stability, and no freedom to use the skills you spent your life building.

How is this helping anyone?
How is this “fair competition”?
How is this still allowed?
And let’s be honest: Verizon is not the last.

More companies in tech, telecom and cybersecurity will follow with mass layoffs, while still enforcing outdated non-competes that punish the very people they’ve just let go.

I asked him directly:
“So you’re laid off… and you still have a non-compete?”

Yes. That’s the reality.
If this is what our industry has become, maybe the problem isn’t the economy, maybe the problem is how we treat the people who built it.

It’s time to rethink this. Radically.

De nieuwste aflevering van BOOS laat opnieuw zien hoe ver het programma, én Tim Hofman, zijn afgedwaald van journalistieke integriteit. 

Het fragment waarin Feyenoord-fans zogenaamd “Hitlergroeten” zouden brengen, is inmiddels stilletjes verwijderd. Waarom? 

Omdat zelfs BOOS niet kon aantonen dat het antisemitisch bedoeld was.

Pas na stevige kritiek erkenden ze dat ze de context én de intentie van het lied compleet verkeerd hadden ingeschat.

Dit is een patroon: eerst maximale verontwaardiging creëren, morele veroordelingen rondstrooien, en wanneer de feiten anders blijken te liggen… ineens gas terugnemen en een video aanpassen. Zó werkt geen journalistiek, maar wél scoringsdrang, framing en morele paniek.

De rol die Hofman hierin speelt is veelzeggend. Hij lijkt meer gefocust op publieke shaming, verontwaardiging en het opleggen van een ideologisch wereldbeeld, dan op feitelijke, onafhankelijke verslaggeving. 

Het is deze mentaliteit, de drang om te cancelen, om te moraliseren, om te framen, die onze samenleving polariseert in plaats van verbindt.

Wanneer zelfs kinderen al worden meegesleept in dit soort eenzijdige activistische boodschappen, en grote bedrijven naïef meebuigen met deze trend, moeten we ons serieus afvragen waar de grens ligt.

Wat er nu gebeurde met het verwijderde fragment zegt alles:
BOOS faalde in feiten, faalde in zorgvuldigheid en faalde in transparantie.

Tijd dat kritische vragen weer belangrijker worden dan clicks.

Tijd dat journalistiek de plek inneemt van activisme.

Tijd dat media leren dat framing geen feiten zijn.

Laten we hem voortaan Tim Hofnar noemen, want een paar plakplaatjes en een baard betekent niet dat je stoer bent.
