Did you know the Toyota logo spells "Toyota"? 

It took 5 years to design: 

You might look at their logo and just see three overlapping ovals. 

But there's so much more going on.

The shapes themselves represent the values of the company. 

The two perpendicular ovals symbolize the "heart" of the company and the customer. 

They overlap to show trust and mutual benefit.

But they also form a "T" for Toyota. 

The outer oval represents the world embracing Toyota.

But it also creates the "O" used twice in the brand name. 

Of course, it's not just the English letters that are included. 

They made sure to have the Japanese letters included in the logo as well.

As you can see, this wasn't just a simple rebrand. 

Toyota spent 5 years developing this new logo for their 50th anniversary. 

They needed something that would allow them to expand globally into new markets, and transition their brand from "Toyoda" to "Toyota."

They had two goals: 

Recognition from a distance, and a logo that stands out from every other car on the road.

In my opinion, they achieved both. 

Here's why this branding works:

1. It scales perfectly. 
↳ The three ovals are strong, yet flexible to work at any size. 

2. It carries meaning without overexplaining it. 
↳ Most people don't know the deeper symbolism, but it's there. 

3. It's built for motion. 
↳ The symmetry and bold shapes make it recognizable on the move. 

Logos need to balance real meaning with compelling design. 

While the outputs might look simple, the process to create them is anything but. 

Most logos either try to do too much or don't mean enough. 

Toyota captured the perfect balance between simplicity and substance.  

That's the difference between decoration and branding.

OOH advertising is making a comeback.  

And this 4D billboard is a perfect example:  

If you want to see the future of outdoor advertising, look no further. 

This Disney+ billboard is engaging, interactive, and memorable. 

They installed a cascading water system to advertise Percy Jackson Season 2. 

It splashes water down the screen in sync with the on-screen display. 

When the giant tentacle crashes against the display,  
The "glass" shatters and water rushes out perfectly in sync. 

Of course, this type of advertising requires resources and funding. 

Most brands can't afford to pull something like this off. 

But in Hollywood, where budgets are high and expectations even higher...

This kind of spectacle is necessary to get your fair share of attention. 

Disney+ is competing with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Max, Apple TV+.

And every other brand in one of the most saturated markets in the world.

A standard billboard or digital display simply wouldn't cut through. 

When everyone is fighting for attention, you need something people can't ignore.

That's why understanding your market and your competitors matters.

Disney+ knows they're not the only streaming service launching new shows. 

Their audience is being bombarded with recommendations across every platform.

So they didn't just advertise Percy Jackson.

The best creative is often the simplest.

(And Mastercard nailed it with this one).

This billboard is minimalist, but the impact is immediate.

Mastercard is a financial services company, but they're not selling themselves as a place to store your cash.

They're positioning themselves as the bridge between money and happiness.

Most financial brands lean on security, interest rates, or product features.

Mastercard frames themselves as the key to experiences that matter.

And they condensed that entire insight into one simple visual.

A Venn diagram is instantly understood and the message lands in 3 seconds...

Which is exactly how long you have to grab attention on a billboard.

When you anchor your brand to something deeply human like the seeking happiness, minimal designs make that message stronger. 

More design complexity would just weaken the insight.

Creative marketing is still the most reliable path to high-performing ads.

But it takes more structure than most people realize.

This is a very common problem with e-commerce brands of all sizes. 

They test creative, optimize landing pages, and launch campaigns. 

But their results are inconsistent.

My diagnosis is almost always the same: you've skipped the fundamentals. 

Here are the 3 layers of marketing every e-commerce brand should cover: 

➡️ Layer 1: Strategy
Before you spend a dollar on ads, you need clarity on: 

- Who your best customers are
- What makes your offer different
- How you're positioned in the market
- What your pricing and retention model looks like

Without this, you're guessing. And guessing gets expensive.

➡️ Layer 2: Marketing Plan
Once strategy is clear, you build a system that holds together. 

- Which channels you're prioritizing and why. 
- How budget is split across acquisition and retention. 
- How you're segmenting your audience. 
- What attribution looks like so you know what's working.

This layer turns strategy into a repeatable system.

➡️ Layer 3: Execution
Creative, landing pages, A/B tests, influencers, checkout optimization.

All of it matters. 

But none of it works if the first two layers are weak.

Great execution of a bad strategy will only lead you to fail faster. 

Each layer will ensure a different outcome.

KFC in the UAE literally removed their doors.

And the stunt has gone completely viral.

When your store is open 24/7, and the weather is always sunny, 
What's the need for doors? 

That's what KFC UAE decided recently. 

The campaign is called KFC Out-Doors, 
And it was designed to announce their 24/7 service. 

Yes, they could have done a social media post. 

But, instead, they chose to turn it into a great OOH advertising opportunity. 

The removal of the doors proves the campaign concept. 

Which matters when you're looking for food at 2 am.

You're not reading fine print or checking hours online. 

You're looking for signals that a place is open.

A missing door is the clearest signal anyone will understand. 

Plus, people photograph weird things. 

A KFC with no door is weird enough to share.

That's organic reach built directly into the concept.

I also appreciate that it's disruptive but not over-the-top. 

OOH advertising can often try to stand out by interrupting public spaces. 

KFC chose to disrupt their own infrastructure to grab attention. 

You can ignore a social post or scroll past an ad.

You probably walk or drive past 100s of billboards every day. 

But no one can ignore a restaurant with no door. 

KFC didn't need to advertise 24/7 service by saying it. 

They proved it in the most literal sense. 

Sometimes the best OOH stunts are just a simple demonstration.

September 27, 2025, was a day to remember. 

If you happened to be outside Foyles bookstore in London on that day, at the perfect time...

You were in for a once-in-a-lifetime treat. 

Matthew McConaughey did several live readings from his new book, "Poems & Prayers."

There were no tickets or formal announcements. 

Just McConaughey in the shop window, 
Redesigned as a cozy reading nook by JACK ARTS and Headline. 

If you were walking down that street that afternoon, you got to see it. 

If you weren't, you missed it.

That's what makes these kinds of fabricated "moments" feel special. 

You either happened to be there, or you didn't.

It's the same idea as setting up a stunt or flash mob. 

Scarcity and spontaneity can turn a simple activity into a viral moment.

News outlets covered it because the format itself was the story. 

And of course, having a good celebrity cameo doesn't hurt. 

McConaughey could've done a packed theater or a livestreamed reading. 

But I think they made the perfect choice with this kind of fun, intimate setup. 

McConaughey's brand is casual, personable, and warm. 

That's exactly the energy they captured by creating a "moment."

The people who were there got something no one else could get. 

And the people who weren't certainly heard about it later. 

That's the kind of marketing you can't buy.

Most brands try to convince you they're the best.  

Heinz let their customers prove it. 

Thanks to Francesco Gatti for breaking down this iconic campaign! 

A few years ago, Heinz ran a simple but brilliant campaign. 

They asked people around the world to draw ketchup...

And the majority drew the Heinz bottle.

Across different countries, cultures, and age groups, people sketched the iconic red, tapered bottle from memory. 

Heinz couldn't have asked for a better display of brand equity if they tried. 

Or a more succinct display of mental availability.

Byron Sharp talks about this concept. 

The top brands are the first thing that comes to mind in a buying situation.

Heinz didn't ask people to remember their ads or their packaging. 

They just said "draw ketchup" and let consumer memory do the work.

And it proved what they already knew:

When someone thinks "ketchup," they think Heinz.

Here's why this campaign worked:

1. Simplicity is shareable. 

A drawing prompt is easy to understand and easy to participate in. 
People understand the concept and want to see the results. 

2. It demonstrated recall over persuasion. 

Heinz didn't need to convince anyone that their ketchup was better. 
They showed that their brand is already top of mind.

3. It relied on distinctive brand assets. 

The bottle shape, the label, and the "57" did the heavy lifting. 
People recognized them instantly without needing any copy or explanation.

4. It was participatory by design. 

People didn't just watch an ad. They contributed to it. 
That participation gives people a reason to share their own drawings.

5. It lets consumer behavior prove dominance instead of making claims. 

Heinz didn't say "we're the leader." 
They let thousands of drawings say it for them.

Your CEO is not your target audience. 

So why are you still marketing to them? 

We see this with brands all the time. 

The CEO wants the brand to look premium and impress other executives.

So the marketing becomes polished, corporate, and safe.

And it completely misses the people who actually need to buy the product.

That's a huge problem for brands trying to grow. 

In 99% of cases, the CEO is not the target audience.

They're not dealing with the pain points your product is meant to solve.

But they're the ones approving the creative. 

So the marketing becomes about impressing the boardroom, 
Instead of converting customers.

The result is advertising that looks good in a pitch deck, 
But doesn't have the desired impact on revenue.

Coca-Cola put up a living billboard in the Philippines...

And it was a masterclass in building trust. 

Too many brands in the early 2010s were guilty of greenwashing. 

A lot of campaigns made eco-friendly claims with little proof.  

This OOH campaign with WWF proved Coca-Cola was willing to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. 

They built a 60x60 ft billboard using 3,600 potted plants,  
Each one planted in a recycled Coke bottle.

The plants actively absorbed air pollutants while the ad ran, and the structure demonstrated possible uses for discarded bottles. 

In just a few months, the billboard absorbed 46,800 pounds of CO₂.

This campaign did a few things really well: 

First, it demonstrated Coke's commitment to reducing pollution, 
And positioned them as a responsible and conscious brand. 

Second, the execution matched the message.

The billboard actually cleaned the air while it ran, 
Closing the gap between claim and action.  

Third, it created genuine utility, not just awareness.

People could see the plants, understand the function, 
And connect the brand to a tangible benefit. 

Fourth, it was perfect for early social media. 

A living billboard is visually striking and conceptually interesting. 

The timing couldn't have been better with Instagram and Twitter at peak popularity.  

Finally, and most importantly, it reinforced both brands' positioning. 

It aligned with Coca-Cola's "Live Positively" platform, 
And captured a core part of WWF's overall messaging. 

The billboard showed proof of concept, not just empty words. 

Is Coca-Cola a highly sustainable brand?
Today, we know that it contributes to a lot of global waste. 

But from an advertising perspective, there's something to learn here.

In an era of greenwashing, this campaign stood out. 

It was a real sustainable initiative that benefit the local area, not just claims on a billboard.

Today, we wouldn't consider this groundbreaking.
But at the time, it was a step in the right direction.

As a singular OOH campaign, it captured the WWF's mission, while positioning Coca-Cola as a brand willing to take action.

Instead of lecturing about climate change...

Both brands decided to create a practical and inspiring solution.

You can write all the copy you want about caring,
But it won't hit nearly as hard as demonstrating it.

When your execution aligns with your message,
Your customers will trust what you say.

Must-Read Marketing Books In 2026

THINK! has always produced strong, emotional ads. 

This is one of their best: 

The message is simple: "Don't Put Drugs in the Driving Seat."

But the execution is a masterclass in consequence-driven advertising.

The campaign uses a single, rotating camera shot from the same vantage point. 

It shows a series of events that have devastating consequences.

A night out quickly transforms into an accident, a courtroom, and a prison cell.

The entire ad stays focused on the driver as he faces what he’s done. 

The concept is simple but brutally effective.

THINK! are not lecturing anyone or showing statistics. 

They simply show a series of events that are likely to occur. 

One decision leads to the next, which leads to the next, and so on.

The rotating camera keeps you locked in the driver's seat the entire time.

You can't look away because the perspective never changes, 
So you also experience the consequences in sequential order. 

That's classic consequence-based storytelling: 

Show the audience exactly what happens when they make a specific choice.

There's no ambiguity or soft messaging. 

Just a tough ad to reflect a very harsh reality. 

And the reality is terribly sad: 

Between 2014 and 2023, there was a 70% increase in driver fatalities where drugs were present.

Around 90% of drivers impaired by drugs in collisions are male.

4 in every 10 are aged between 17 and 29.

And 32% of young men think it's acceptable to drive if they "feel fine" after taking drugs.

This ad targets the exact demographic where overconfidence and risk underestimation are most prevalent.

THINK! ran it across OOH, social media, TikTok, YouTube, and digital audio...

The same channels where this demographic spends their time. 

And targeted drug driving hotspots across England during real police operations.  

Here's what marketing teams should take from this:

First, consequence-driven storytelling works when the stakes are real.

THINK! has to show the full story to have the desired impact. 

Second, the format reinforces the concept.

The rotating camera keeps you in the driver's seat, so you can't escape. 

It puts you in the shoes of the young man in the ad. 

Third, distribution matters as much as creative.

They coordinated the campaign with police enforcement, 
And targeted high-risk areas.

That's both good advertising and strategic intervention. 

And finally, don't underestimate the power of showing rather than telling.

Statistics matter, but seeing the sequence unfold is what makes people remember.

This is advertising that actually changes behavior.

Heinz has been the go-to ketchup for over 100 years. 

And they've barely changed their look: 

Their branding is simple, and their message is simpler.  

When you want ketchup, you reach for Heinz. 

Yet, they still manage to bring a creative edge to that simplicity.

Here's how they've remained one of the best consumer brands for decades:  

1. Heinz advertises to confirm, not persuade
↳ Their advertising reinforces what people already believe. 
↳ Validation is far more powerful than persuasion.

2. They committed early to branding over short-term selling
↳ Heinz invested in long-term mental availability. 
↳ That decision allowed them to dominate the category in people's minds. 

3. Distinctive brand assets are treated as sacred

↳ This discipline enables extreme creative restraint. 

4. The work is rooted in real human behavior

Heinz Ads

Häagen-Dazs isn't Danish. It isn't European. 

It's not even a real word.

It was invented by Reuben and Rose Mattus in 1959 in the Bronx.

And became the foundation of their billion-dollar brand.

Rose met Reuben in Brooklyn while working for his family's ice cream business, 
Senator Frozen Products, and they married in 1936.

For decades, they ran a standard ice cream operation. 

But by the 1950s, ice cream was getting cheaper and lower quality. 

Reuben couldn't compete on price while maintaining quality.

So he went the opposite direction.

In 1959, he decided to make the richest ice cream possible. 

He spared no expense, using real cream, egg yolks, and natural flavorings. 

Original pints cost 75 cents (about $8 today).

But who pays premium prices for ice cream made in the Bronx?

So they invented a brand that sounded imported.

Rose created the name Häagen-Dazs. 

It's a completely made-up word that sounds vaguely Scandinavian. 

Reuben told PEOPLE in 1981: 

"We wanted people to say, 'Is this imported?' We created a meaning for it. 
It means 'the best.'"

The entire brand identity was fabricated to justify the premium price. 

And it worked.

In 1983, they sold the company to Pillsbury for $70 million.

This raises an uncomfortable question about brand authenticity.

Is it ethical to invent a European heritage to command higher prices?

Reuben and Rose didn't lie about the product itself.

The ice cream was genuinely higher quality. 

But they fabricated the origin to create a perception of imported luxury. 

From a marketing perspective, it's brilliant. 

They understood that perception drives value. 

Ice cream from Denmark sounds more premium than ice cream from the Bronx.

From an authenticity perspective, it's complicated. 

Modern consumers demand transparency. 

A brand built on a fake origin story today would face immediate backlash.

Yet Häagen-Dazs still thrives because the product has premium positioning.

Reuben and Rose understood that people don't just buy ice cream. 

They buy what it represents. 

The ethics of fabricating brand details will always be debated.

Haagen-Dazs Story

Porsche made one thing clear about this ad:

It wasn't made with AI. 

And people are loving it.  

The film is described as a symbolic love letter to Porsche fans, filled with subtle references that only dedicated enthusiasts will recognize. 

And every single frame was hand-painted by Parallel Studios.

The company says there are 8 hidden details placed throughout the ad. 

Easter eggs for viewers who truly know the brand.

This comes right after Coca-Cola and McDonald’s got hammered for using AI. 

The contrast is obvious and very deliberate. 

Here's why Porsche's approach is working:

1. It shows respect for the audience.

Porsche fans are enthusiasts who care about the details. 
The effort put into this ad shows a deep respect for that.  

2. It signals what the brand values.

Porsche sells precision engineering and craftsmanship. 
Using hand-painted animation reinforces those values. 

3. It positions Porsche against competitors.

Coca-Cola used AI for their holiday campaign and faced backlash. 
Porsche strategically went the opposite direction, and it worked. 

4. It creates conversation around the medium.

People aren't just talking about what the ad says. 
They're talking about how it was made. 

This isn't anti-technology. 

Porsche builds some of the most technologically advanced cars in the world. 

But they understand when craft matters more than efficiency.

And right now, in advertising, craft matters.

Audiences are exhausted by AI-generated content. 

And they can tell when a brand chooses speed over care. 

So, they're rewarding the brands that still invest in human creativity.

Knowing that, Porsche didn't just make a year-end commercial. 

They made a statement about what they value.

Not all campaigns are completely original. 

Uber Eats shows us how it's done: 

They recently took their long-running "Get Almost Almost Anything" concept and pushed it into new creative territory.

They created ten ridiculous scenarios built around product names. 

A couple learning an excruciatingly slow Latin dance becomes "mild salsa."

Two people embracing dressed in fruit costumes becomes "passion fruit."

It's playful, silly, and clicks the second you watch it.

But most of all, it proves that you don't need to reinvent the wheel every time. 

Uber Eats has kept the same core message but found a new format to execute it.

It's entertaining and reinforces how wide and weird their marketplace has become.

Plus, it creates instant engagement with a mini game of "guess the product." 

This is a lesson in creative endurance.

The best advertising platforms aren't one-and-done ideas.

They're flexible frameworks that let you refresh the creative, 
Without necessarily starting over.

Uber Eats has been running this campaign for years, 
And it still feels fresh because they keep finding new angles.

So, if your campaign is built on a strong insight and a flexible platform, you don't need to scrap it every quarter.

You just need to find new ways to bring it to life.

Most brands kill campaigns when they get bored with them internally.

But your audience isn't seeing every version. 

They're catching one or two iterations. 

Ultimately, it's a win-win: 

Repetition builds recognition, and variation keeps it interesting.

If you want to emulate Uber Eats' playbook, try this: 

✅ Your core platform must stay consistent 
✅ Evolve the format strategically 
✅ Execute new creative but maintain the concept 
✅ Engage your audience on an intellectual level 

If your creative platform is working, don't abandon it.

Find new formats to execute the same core idea.

And just like Uber Eats, keep finding fresh ways to prove it.

Who knew the humble pear could teach us everything about advertising fundamentals?

I didn't, and was pleasantly surprised by this simple masterclass. 

There are no flashy graphics or calls-to-action. 

Just a simple question that instantly forces you to recall your last pear. 

I love ads that remind me what this industry is really about. 

These days, advertisers can often go over the top. 

Trying to jump on the latest trend or create the next big viral stunt. 

This ad simply reminds you that pears exist, and that you enjoy them. 

It's quiet, understated, and almost easy to miss.

But if you actually look at it, the simplicity makes you think.

Because the question is real. When WAS the last time you had a pear?

You probably can't remember, and that realization is the focal point. 

It's the "aha moment" that plants that seed of desire. 

Now, the next time you see a pear, you're more likely to reach for it. 

That's advertising fundamentals working in real time. 

You don't always need a big idea. 

Sometimes you just need to show up and ask a question that makes people stop. 

And, of course, the execution must support the message. 

A pear is simple, so the ad is simple. 

There's no disconnect between what's being sold and how it's being sold.

Instead, there's confidence in the restraint they showed. 

The National Pear Council could've added recipe ideas or a discount code.

But they trusted that a question and a photo would work. 

At Ad Pros, we often see brands overcomplicate campaigns.

They add too many elements that compete for attention in the same creative.

Sometimes the best move is to strip it all away and get back to basics.

Ask a simple question, use a clean visual, 
And trust your audience to connect the dots.

This pear ad could've run 30 years ago, and it could run 30 years from now. 

The format is timeless because it's not chasing trends.

Pizza Hut just launched a campaign featuring Tom Brady. 

The entire thing was executed in 5 days.

The idea came from VML's creative team, who took over Pizza Hut's U.S. creative duties in October 2025. 

They pitched the concept, got approval, and turned it around faster than most brands approve a single social post.

This isn't a blueprint to follow. 

Most campaigns shouldn't be built in 5 days.

But it shows something important: 

When the idea is strong enough, execution falls into place.

There are a few reasons why this worked, even with the last-minute execution: 

First of all, the insight is obvious once you see it.

Tom Brady spent decades saying "Hut" on every snap. 

Pizza Hut literally has "Hut" in the name. 

The connection writes itself.

Plus, you don't need a 10-part campaign when the hook is this simple. 

Brady says, "Hut." Pizza Hut puts him in an ad. 

The joke lands immediately and retains its charm. 

In this case, speed was possible because the idea was clear.

When everyone agrees on what the campaign is, decisions get easier. 

You're not debating the concept or workshopping alternatives. 

You're just executing a clear, obvious idea. 

Most brands overcomplicate campaigns because the core idea isn't solid. 

They add layers, features, and messaging to compensate for a weak foundation. 

Pizza Hut had a simple idea: Tom Brady misses saying "Hut." 

And that clarity let them move fast.

In advertising, this is what we mean when we talk about strategy first:

If you have to explain why the idea works, it's not strong enough.

The best campaigns are the ones where the concept is crystal clear. 

Pizza Hut proved that with a 5-day turnaround.

Timothee Chalamet and A24 didn't just promote Marty Supreme.

They turned a film release into a cultural moment.

And it's completely changed the concept of modern movie marketing. 

To promote the film's release, A24 deployed a series of stunts, 
All designed to be discovered, shared, and debated.

- Orange blimps appearing over U.S. cities.
- Surprise screenings and soundtrack listening events.
- Limited-edition jackets that instantly became resale trophies.
- A Wheaties box featuring Marty instead of a traditional sports star.
- A streetwear pop-up that drew crowds so large the police shut it down.
- A fake marketing meeting where Chalamet plays an insufferable version of himself.

None of it aligned with traditional film promotion.

And yet, it arguably worked better than the usual playbook. 

Here are 6 lessons we can learn from their approach:  

1. Steal tactics from different industries

A24 skipped the usual red carpet premiere and talk show circuit, 
And used tactics from streetwear drops, music releases, and viral stunts.

Look at who's already winning with your audience.

2. Make people talk before they buy

Each stunt gave people something to react to, debate, and share. 
By the time the film released, it already felt like an event.

3. Build for screenshots and clips

- The fake Zoom call went viral in clips. ("Schwap!" became a meme.)
- The orange blimp got photographed across multiple cities.
- The pop-up was filmed, edited, and shared on social media.

Design every asset to work as a standalone share.

4. Your brand ambassador can't half-ass it

Chalamet used his existing fame to generate buzz for the campaign.
If your spokesperson isn't all in, find someone who will be. 

5. Your marketing should reflect your product

Marty Supreme is about obsession, ambition, and the pursuit of greatness. 
The relentlessness of the rollout reflected that energy.

6. Stop selling, start surprising

People are exhausted by ads. They don't want to be sold to anymore.

But they do want:

- Surprises that break their routine
- Things worth talking about
- Experiences they can participate in

A24 accepted that reality faster than most studios. 

They turned a niche sports film into a cultural phenomenon. 

Whether Marty Supreme becomes a box office hit or not, 
The campaign already did something more important...

It showed us that movie marketing can, and should, evolve.
