The group will consists of technology entrepreneurs, established digital giants, journalists, government figures and vital suppliers to our industry. The group also has Overseas Advocates from 20 countries and territories across the world which include Tech London Advocates, Tech Nordic Advocates, Tech China Advocates, Tech India Advocates to name but a few.

I have worked with several types of businesses over the last 10 years. From billion pound turnover companies to startups. I am usually brought in to do a specific project and and as consultant don’t always get to see the final result. I have a business-drive approach. 

All projects start with a clearly defined business challenge brief to ensure that we do not chase shiny objects and instead deliver targeted value. 

Looking beyond a product-centric focus to explore new business models, new channels, new services, new technologies, new consumer experiences and the evolving path-to-purchase. Utilising proven startup processes and tools including venture pitch development I roll up my sleeves to become part of the “founding team”.

The local/national/international ecosystem needs are important to me, I like seeing a business grow and take shape and be part of the ecosystem. Great founding teams with a real passion, have an unfair advantage, and some sort of founder/market fit. I have worked with businesses to identify their purpose, and use that purpose to help decide which goals deserve their attention.

I have worked with businesses to become entrepreneurial - making them adopt a hands-on approach with their projects using a wide variety of entrepreneurial tools, as well as a structured intrapreneurship process to change ideas into market-ready solutions. Putting the end user at the very centre of the innovation process, to design new solutions that customers will love. 

An innovative culture and the right set of creativity techniques are essential. Enhance your team’s customer-centric mindset and skills in developing new products, services, and business concepts, as well as finding new markets for your innovative technology.

UK Tech Week

The inaugural UK Tech Week will be hosted across the country on 23rd to 25th April, with existing tech weeks and regional festivals taking part, both to put on events during the week and also to signpost their own events during the year. An open platform format means that any existing events and organisations can take part in the week, benefiting from collaboration across the UK.

Founded by Stuart Clarke MBE, the Festival Director of the Leeds Digital Festival, it has the support of a number of events such as Birmingham Tech Week and organisations including techUK and Global Tech Advocates. UKTN will be the media partner for the inaugural event. Clarke is being supported by Naomi Timperley, a well-known and respected figure in the tech world.

I am reaching out as both a long-standing member of the LinkedIn community and a recent victim of a serious, criminal case of cyberstalking. After more than two years of sustained online harassment across multiple platforms, the perpetrator in my case was recently convicted and sentenced to 28 months in prison for stalking and malicious communications.

Despite this conviction and despite multiple reports made to LinkedIn providing evidence of the abuse, defamatory posts, and police involvement, these posts remain live on the platform.

To make matters worse, there is now a third party actively harassing us on the perpetrator’s behalf, continuing the campaign of intimidation even after sentencing. Which myself and Brad 🇬🇧🦁🔆 Burton have reported to the police as we have a restraining order in place. 

LinkedIn’s own guidelines clearly prohibit:

“Abuse, including bullying, harassment, targeted attacks, and the sharing of private information. This also includes trolling, hate speech, scams, and unwanted sexual advances.”

However, the reality of enforcement has not matched this policy.

I fully recognise the scale of moderation challenges LinkedIn faces, but the wider social impact of inaction in cases like this is devastating, not only for victims like me but also for the platform’s reputation as a trusted professional space.

I am writing to ask:

Can LinkedIn’s Trust & Safety and Social Impact teams urgently review this case?

Can stronger victim protection measures be put in place for verified victims of harassment, particularly in cases with criminal convictions?

Can we explore how LinkedIn might collaborate with law enforcement or advocacy organisations to better support victims of online abuse?

This is not just a matter of content moderation. It’s about the duty of care to protect users from further harm especially when the courts have already recognised the severity of that harm.

On Monday 13th October at 10pm, the second episode of Social Media Monsters airs on Channel 4 (also available on 4 on Demand). This episode tells the story of me, Brad 🇬🇧🦁🔆 Burton  and Justine Wright, as three victims of a relentless campaign of online harassment that has deeply affected our lives and wellbeing.

Social Media Monsters examines serious crimes where social media played a significant role, meeting victims, friends and families, and gaining insight from police, psychologists and other experts.

For over three years, we’ve fought not only to protect ourselves but to be heard. To be believed. To seek justice in a system that has delayed sentencing five times and still leaves us without closure.

This documentary is difficult, honest, and important.
It shows the devastating real-world impact of online abuse not just the messages or posts, but the emotional, psychological, and professional toll it takes on victims. What happens after the police report is made. What happens when justice is delayed again and again.

I’m sharing my story because I want things to change for myself, for Brad 🇬🇧🦁🔆 Burton , Justine Wright and Lauren D. and for every other victim who has been made to feel invisible.

The damage caused by stalking casts a long shadow over victims’ lives.

The makers of the programme from Crackit TV also contacted the social media companies who have failed to stop the harassment and examined serious crimes where social media played a significant role, meeting victims, friends and families, and gaining insight from police, psychologists and other experts.

They include Jane Lawrenson, a highly decorated senior police officer, most latterly with the National Crime Agency, who said: “Social media companies have a huge responsibility in cases like this, and they should be held accountable for what goes on on their platforms.”
