Over the past 32 years of teaching in higher education, I've watched educators stress about "the next thing that will ruin education" - calculators, spell check, Wikipedia, Google... and now AI.

I failed my only computer programming class in high school. Earned an F.

But years later, when I needed a website for my martial arts business, I taught myself HTML and programming. Why? Because I had PURPOSE.

That's what our students are missing.

In my talk, I share why the real threat isn't AI replacing professors, it's professors who don't adapt being replaced by those who do. 

And I introduce you to "Terrible Tim" (yes, I made a video 😂), the student every educator fears, to make a point about why rote memorization and busywork assignments are dead.

The solution? Give students assignments where they understand WHY they're doing it and HOW it benefits their future. Teach them to USE AI critically, not ban it entirely.

Because we can't keep preparing students for a world that no longer exists.
