I ran an A/B test on my live workshop funnel a month ago to include the phone number field as optional (see screenshot) when people register for my workshop. 

This is a big deal because it allows us to follow up with SMS for the live workshop & increase live show up rate.

The control only include the name and email fields. 

All traffic came from the same FB ads. 

I ran it until there was a 92% confidence rate.

The result: there was no measurable difference in conversion rate between the control and the variation (which was surprising to me - I thought for sure that the phone number field, even as optional, would impact conversion rate). 

What's even more interesting tho - is 70% of people on the variation DID enter their phone number to get the reminders.

Make the phone number field required & see the impact on conversion rate.
