If you're still treating Shorts like top-of-funnel, you’re already late.

This quarter, YouTube doubled down on Shopping: affiliate tagging, auto-timestamps, and creator monetization all got upgrades. 

Shorts has shifted from awareness to action. It’s the first real bridge between discovery and checkout.

This changes how you work with creators. 

The best results come from people already in YouTube’s affiliate program: creators who know how to move fast and keep their data clean.

Give them access to product feeds, promo timing, and clear commissions so price and stock stay accurate. Shorts rewards truth in inventory.

Tagging has gotten smarter too. 

Products can now appear right when they’re shown, not two cuts later. Just make sure what’s being displayed is actually available, and that your Merchant Center data matches reality.

What’s next?

YouTube’s testing Lens in Shorts, where viewers can pause and search the product on screen.

Google Demand Gen campaigns: When to use them and best practices (with examples)

Demand Gen campaigns may be the newest addition to the Google Ads toolbox, but they haven’t received the same attention or hype as Performance Max. 

Two years after the public launch, we’ve transitioned from the campaign being in beta to testing additional controls, including inventory selection.

Here’s what I’ve learned from being part of the initial release and using Demand Gen regularly over the past couple of years.

ABA clinics:

A full waitlist might be your biggest problem. 

Everyone celebrates a full waitlist because it usually means your marketing is working; families are finding you, they’re reaching out, and you can’t onboard fast enough.

But when those families wait too long, intent fades.

They stop replying. They find another provider. Or they decide to put therapy on hold altogether.

Meanwhile, your campaigns are still spending money to fill a pipeline that quietly empties itself.

We’ve seen it happen across several high-demand markets: 

Strong ad performance, solid lead flow, but a 40–60% drop in starts once wait times hit 30 days. 

That’s not a marketing failure. It’s an intake readiness issue.

The solution isn’t to stop running ads, but to manage the gap.

Keep those families warm while they wait. Send updates, share resources, remind them they’re still on your radar.

You can even build lightweight nurture automations to keep communication alive until a slot opens.

Some clinics still measure success by leads, calls, or scheduled assessments.

Sure, those metrics matter, but they don’t tell you if your marketing is actually driving growth.

A family filling out a form isn’t a conversion. A family starting therapy is.

And the time between those two moments (Speed-to-Start) is one of the most important and overlooked metrics in ABA marketing.

Here’s what the data usually shows:

Families who start therapy within two weeks of inquiry are three to four times more likely to stay long term.

After 30 days, the odds of losing them before intake go way up.

Your intent doesn't matter. It’s about momentum.

When communication slows, trust slips; and no ad strategy can make up for that delay.

That’s why we track Speed-to-Start as closely as cost per lead.

It shows how efficiently your clinic turns interest into action.

It highlights breakdowns in intake follow-up, communication, and internal handoffs before they become expensive.

If you tighten that window, everything downstream gets more efficient:

✅Lower cost per start.
✅Higher retention.
✅More predictable growth.

So before you scale ad spend, check how long it takes a new family to begin care.

That’s the number that tells you if your marketing is really working.

We've audited intake processes for ABA therapy clinics running Google and Meta ads in over 2 dozen states.

The most profitable campaigns have 1 thing in common:

They treat that first parent call like a lead that cost a couple of hundred dollars to acquire.

When intake is handled like routine paperwork, families feel it. The tone is rushed, the timing's inconsistent, and the follow-ups aren't clear.

By the time you realize the lead didn’t actually convert, the opportunity to build trust is gone.

The gap between a clinic that converts 5% of inquiries and one that converts 25% isn’t always in the ad campaigns.

Google is retiring Call-Only ads.  

Creation ends in February 2026, and they’ll be fully sunset by early 2027.

That means your inbound calls will have to run through Responsive Search Ads with Call Assets instead.

It sounds small, but for businesses that live on phone leads, it’s a big shift.

Right now, Call-Only ads have their own structure and bidding logic. Once they’re gone, that traffic will compete inside RSA campaigns. 

And the results can change fast if you don’t plan the transition.

I’ve seen this happen during past ad product sunsets: the clicks keep coming, but the phones go quiet.

So, don’t wait until 2026 to rebuild.

Start testing Call Assets in your RSAs now.

Keep the same message (people still want to speak to someone who can help) but make sure the setup reflects real-world logistics.

Calls should only run when someone can actually answer, and you’ll want to monitor volume and lead quality closely in those first few weeks.

Remember, a call that closes is data the system needs to see. Feed those conversion signals back into your campaigns so Google learns what a good call looks like, not just what rings.

The update isn’t live yet, but it’s coming.
