Today I’m speaking on Lithuanian national TV… in the 6th language I’ve learned in my life

And I’ll be honest… I’m very nervous 😅

Today I’m not just speaking as Mel.

I’m speaking about women in gaming… to the whole country! 🇱🇹

And there’s another thing that makes this moment very personal for me.

Lithuanian isn’t my native language.
It’s not my second.
Not even my third.

It’s actually the sixth language I’ve learned in my life! 💁🏼‍♀️

I wasn’t born in Lithuania, but I’ve spent almost half of my life here.

So sitting in that chair today, speaking Lithuanian on national TV about gaming and women in the industry…

felt both terrifying and incredibly powerful ❤️

A reminder that sometimes the things that scare us the most are exactly the things that show us we’re moving forward.

I’ve always believed in helping people grow in this industry.
In supporting more women to find their voice.

And in building a gaming space where everyone feels welcome.

The gaming industry has a problem.

And almost nobody wants to say it out loud.

At Gamesforum Barcelona, I asked developers a simple but uncomfortable question:

Are you building games for players, or for algorithms?

What followed was honest, unfiltered:

– Fake mobile ads that would never be allowed in other industries
– Studios choosing “guerilla mode” over AAA scale
– Unlimited budgets not changing the core vision
– “Vibe coding” - loved and hated at the same time
– Publishers adapting to trends they don’t even fully believe in

One thing became clear:
The studios that deeply understand their audience will outlast those chasing platforms.
