Marika Adamopoulos is an entrepreneur, thought leader, and creative with over a decade’s worth of experience working with global businesses and agencies. Starting out as an immigrant’s daughter and self-taught photographer, Marika received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and graduated from a philosophy program. Marika has always believed in shifting status quo’s and revolutionizing the way businesses create and communicate. Currently running an agency-ish focusing on content strategy, creative direction, and media production, Marika was an early trendsetter in redefining how agencies work with customers, how creatives are perceived, and empowering creators to think like business owners. For the last several years, I’ve had the privilege of attending the Global Peter Drucker Forum in Vienna at the beautiful Hofburg Palace. Now in its 17th year, each Forum I've been a part of teaches me something new. This one, though, felt different (in a good way): less like a management conference, more like a mirror.

A quiet but profound question echoed through the halls: What does it truly mean to lead as a human being in an age of acceleration?

We spoke of neuroscience and recovery. Of soul and service. Of algorithms and agency. And beneath every conversation was the same undercurrent: leadership is no longer just about direction or decision-making, it’s about consciousness.

Prof. Dr. Eva Asselmann said it best: “Change always starts with the invisible - with our thoughts that shape our actions, relationships, organizations, and cultures.”

Managing others begins with managing our own minds, how we respond under pressure, reframe failure, and cultivate awareness.

Annastiina Hintsa reminded us that “recovery is part of performance,” and that burnout and brilliance can’t coexist. Niren Chaudhary reframed impact as deeply relational: “Impact is an inside–outside process. It starts with reflection and managing of self, then building trust with others, and finally impacting the world.”

What seems to leave the deepest effect on oneself and others is not the linear climb of achievement, but the circular rhythm of reflection, connection, and renewal.

There was also a deeper honesty on the Forum stage, a call to move beyond the aesthetics of being “human-centered.”

Raymond Hofmann offered the most piercing reflection of the week: “Be careful what you ask for when you say your organization needs to be more human, because no one is asking what it actually means to be human.”

He spoke about the fullness of our humanity, which is not only empathy and creativity, but also ego, fragility, and power that can corrupt if left unexamined. 

Leadership, at its core, is a moral practice. To lead others well, we must confront the parts of ourselves we’d rather not.

Alex Adamopoulos, chairing The AI Miracle in Learning, captured the spirit of what’s next: “AI is an opportunity to learn faster, not necessarily to take shortcuts.”
 
Curt Carlson, Ph.D. grounded it further: “Your job is to serve the needs of your customers. If you’re not doing that, it doesn’t matter what you do.”

Technology doesn’t absolve us of judgment, It demands more of it. The question isn’t whether AI will replace us, but whether we’ll stay present enough to lead with discernment.

This year’s Forum wasn’t about answers, but about integration: Science and soul, performance and pause, technology and tenderness, leadership as both discipline and devotion.

The key to being human in leadership is to keep learning, to stay curious, self-aware, and humble enough to grow even when we don’t have control.

1. Full-Time Social Media Manager
Someone who’s equal parts creative and strategic, who loves content creation, understands how to build and nurture a digital community, and can keep our channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, and more to come) engaging, consistent, and on-brand. Primary responsibilities would include content ideation in collaboration with me and brand leadership, copywriting for social posts, and ownership of the content calendar and scheduling.

2. Paid Media Agency or Specialist (Contract)
We’re also ready to level up on the paid side and are looking for a performance-driven partner fluent in Meta, LinkedIn, and Google Ads. You may be the right fit if you have B2C experience, understand the nuances of brand awareness vs. growth and sales, and can partner with the internal team to maximize our existing creative efforts and help us in building our thriving marketing loop.
