Vorticity
An integral part of fluid dynamics is vorticity. Heuristically, it measures the local rotation of a fluid parcel. For solid objects we do not speak of the vorticity of an object but instead we refer to its angular velocity. These two concepts are related but vorticity is more useful when discussing rotating objects that deform, as a fluid does.

Mechanical power on the #vent , ok yes the number impacts lungs ,  more than that too , it echos all over the body , it's energy, #physiology hears it as a stress signal, it's an Amazon truck pulling up with boxes and boxes of derangement 

it  ripples out,  disturbing hemodynamics, inflaming tissues, and stressing organs (kidneys , brain , liver , heart )

talking about it in terms of just lungs , & then trying to define when it's not that bad the  or that  some other parameters tracks more closely w lung injury ignores a key principle , it is a global threat (physiologically speaking )

When we respect it for the danger it is for other organs ,  we protect not just lungs, but the entire human system entrusted to us.

"Abstract: Mechanical ventilation (MV) is a life-saving intervention that imparts mechanical power (MP) to the respiratory system, a critical factor in ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI). The systemic effects of MV go far beyond the pulmonary system. This review highlights existing evidence of the significant impacts of MV on extrapulmonary organs, including the heart, kidneys, liver, and brain. This study outlines the mechanisms by which MV-induced hemodynamic shifts, systemic inflammation, and oxidative stress contribute to myocardial strain, acute kidney injury (AKI), hepatic dysfunction, and neuroinflammation, all of which are associated with cognitive deficits. The pathophysiological pathways significantly contribute to multi-organ dysfunction in critically ill patients. This review highlights the essential need for a personalized, multidisciplinary approach to MV. Adjusting ventilator settings to reduce MP and its systemic effects allows clinicians to safeguard vulnerable organ systems and enhance overall patient outcomes.
