Get a Mercedes at the cost of a Fortuner only in INDIA. How India just handed the auto market a grenade.

-Tariffs dropping from 110% to 40%.
-Then to 10%.

It means:
- Porsche Macan: ₹1 crore → ₹60-65 lakhs
- Audi: ₹80 lakhs → ₹50 lakhs
- VW Golf: ₹50-53 lakhs → ₹35-40 lakhs

These are actual estimates.
Reuters. 
Economic Times. 
Both reported it yesterday.

What makes me more cautious is- 
On the day this deal was announced, 
-Mahindra & Mahindra stock crashed 5%.
-Maruti Suzuki down 3%.
-Tata Motors down 2%.

They just realized their business is collapsing.

For 30 years, Indian automakers built an empire on import taxes.
-High duties = European cars stay expensive.
-Expensive European cars = people buy Fortuner, Creta, XUV700.

Remove the tax wall?
Game over.

An Audi at ₹50 lakhs eats into every premium SUV in the ₹50-70 lakh range.

European luxury cars now compete on quality and tech.
Not on price padding.

The fine print?
- 200,000 cars/year quota.
- EVs protected for 5 years.
- Only cars above €15,000 included.

Sounds safe. Controlled.
But controlled opening is still opening.

And opening the door to Mercedes, BMW, Audi is opening the door to competition that Indian automakers haven’t faced in decades.

Mahindra owns SUVs in India.
Not because they’re better.
But because European SUVs cost ₹1+ crore. (but not anymore)

So what happens next?
-Either Indian automakers finally innovate and compete on quality.
-Or they get slowly buried by better-engineered German cars at half the price.

The market’s already voted.
Stock crashes don’t lie.

What’s your call?

Will you switch to a German import when it costs the same as a Fortuner?
Or does the “Made in India” badge matter more than the car itself?

Every Indian student is just one step away from being jailed. If you ask a question a professor disagrees with in Japan, Singapore, the US, or Australia, you get a discussion/ might even be appreciated for it. But if you do the same in an Indian university today, you can be punished :)

That’s the direction we’re moving in with the UGC Promotion of Equity Regulations 2026.
UGC says these rules will END discrimination. 
I think they will quietly CREATE more of it.

The rules expand “discrimination” to include implicit behaviour- actions without intent.
That means routine academic interactions can now be treated as violations.

-A tough question in class.
-A low grade.
-A disagreement during research.
-A strict viva.

All of it can be interpreted as discrimination.

And let’s be honest, the system quietly assumes General Category students and faculty as default oppressors.

With:
• No strong safeguards against false complaints
• Reversed burden of proof
• Aggressive timelines
• External interference in universities

Fear replaces trust.
Classrooms stop being places of debate.They become places of caution.

Now look at how other countries handle this.

Singapore
• Complaints require clear intent and evidence
• Strong due process
• Universities handle issues internally first
• Academic freedom is protected

Japan
• Focus on proven misconduct, not perception
• Faculty are trained, not policed
• Dialogue is encouraged, not criminalised

Australia
• Independent ombudsman systems
• Natural justice is mandatory
• False or malicious complaints have consequences
• Strong protection for academic independence

Dubai (UAE)
• Zero tolerance for harassment
• But complaints must meet high evidentiary standards
• Clear distinction between misconduct and disagreement
• Institutions are accountable, not paralysed

Sorry to say, this won’t reduce discrimination.

It will:
• Increase fear and false accusations
• Kill honest debate
• Push good faculty into silence
• Weaken classrooms

But real equity comes from:
• Fair process
• Evidence
• Accountability on both sides

Agree or disagree- 
but if we can’t debate this openly, we’ve already lost something important.

Didn’t want to say but this is the very reason no academic talent wants to stay in India only because of this. 

And I think, they shouldn’t.

If you’re buying property in Gurgaon in 2026, you’re probably wasting money. Smart investors are quietly moving to Noida.

Price (2026)
Noida: ₹8,400–₹12,000 / sq ftGurgaon: ₹10,000–₹21,000 / sq ft
Noida is ~35% cheaper.

Yet…

Noida grew almost as fast as Gurgaon.
At a much lower entry price.

You’re paying ₹3.5 lakh extra per 100 sq ft in Gurgaon
for barely 10% more appreciation.

That’s not investing.
That’s paying for a brand name.

Why Noida is different right now

1️⃣ Land scarcity has started

Land aggregators are becoming developers.

Example:
-Great Value Realty (GVR)
-15 years as a land aggregator
-Now developing their own ₹600 cr ultra-luxury project (Sector 107)


When aggregators stop selling land and start building: 
➡️ Supply tightens
➡️ Prices move up

This shift is happening in Noida now.

2️⃣ Jewar Airport is NOT priced in
-Expected impact: 25–30% appreciation within 30 km in 3–5 years

Gurgaon already has airport access.
That upside is already priced in.
Noida’s biggest catalyst is still coming.

That’s the difference between:
Buying history (Gurgaon)
Buying growth (Noida)

3️⃣ Green living = future premium
Noida is more planned, more open, more green.

AQI (winter averages):
-Gurgaon: 300–400
-Noida: 250–350 (still bad, but lower)
-Green-certified projects will command 10–15% premiums going forward.

If you're doing a ₹2 crore investment

Gurgaon
-1,000 sq ft @ ₹20,000
-3-yr value: ₹3.06 cr
-Profit: ₹1.06 cr

Noida
-1,600 sq ft @ ₹12,500
-3-yr value: ₹2.86 cr
-Add Jewar impact (+25%) → ₹3.58 cr
-Profit: ₹1.58 cr
-Plus: 60% more space + Better rental yield

So, if you consider Gurgaon:
-Expensive
-Mature market
-Growth already happened

If you consider Noida:
-35% cheaper
-Faster upside ahead
-Airport + scarcity + green premium

Gurgaon is where you show success.
Noida is where you build wealth.

China’s nightmare is coming to India in 15 years. And we’re completely unprepared. 

• 7.92 million births in 2025
• 11.31 million deaths
• Population declined by 3.4 million in ONE year
• Fertility rate: 1.0 (lowest in the world)
• 23% of population is over 60 years old

In 1980, China introduced the one-child policy.
Six elders spending on them:
-2 parents
-4 grandparents

All earning. All spoiling one kid.

That child grew up with everything.
But now, 45 years later?

That ONE child has to support SIX aging elders as there are NO new children being born to help.

China’s population projection:
2026: 1.4 billion
2050: 1.3 billion
2100: 525-633 million

They’re losing HALF their population in 75 years.

Why?
-Medical science improved (people live longer)
-Birth rates collapsed (no one having kids)
-Young people refuse to have children (economic pressure, career focus)

Whatever happens in China, India follows 15-20 years later.

China had 6-Pocket Syndrome in 2000. India is seeing it NOW in 2025.

China hit aging crisis in 2026.
India will hit it by 2040-2045.

India’s current numbers:

Fertility rate: 
• 1.9-2.0 (BELOW replacement level of 2.1)
• 10% of population is over 60 (149 million people)
• States like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Goa already experiencing school closures (no kids)

So who will take care of us when we’re old?

In China today:
>6 elders depend on 1 working adult
>Pension systems collapsing
>Healthcare overloaded
>Labor shortages everywhere

Will India have:
-Robots taking care of elders?AI nurses? -Assisted living facilities for millions?

Because the math doesn’t work.

If one child has to support:
-2 parents
-4 grandparents
-Themselves
-Their own household

That’s 7+ people on one income.
Impossible.

Young people are choosing NOT to have kids because:

• Housing costs are insane⁠
• Career > Family⁠
• Economic pressure

China tried to reverse it:
-Ended one-child policy in 2015
-Gave cash incentives (₹36,000/year per child)
-Free childbirth medical costs
-Extended maternity leave to 158 days

But failed. 
South Korea tried. Failed.
Japan tried. Failed.
Germany tried. Failed.

India will try. And fail too.

So, having 3-4 kids is no longer a choice. It’s a necessity. 

But the real question is 
How will young Indians afford to raise them?

Aman Gupta asked- What did your parents eat to have you?

Who is this boy? 
~13 years old.
~From Ghaziabad.
~Built an AI-powered diagnostic platform.

It’s a real product that helps doctors diagnose:
-Neurological issues
-Dermatology conditions

Fast. Accurate. AI-powered.

His ask on Shark Tank: ₹60 lakh for 5% equity.

But he didn’t just want money.

-He wanted mentorship.
-Strategic guidance.
-Help to scale responsibly.

At 13, he’s already thinking like a CEO.

What the Sharks said:

Kunal Bahl:
“My daughter is the same age as you. This is one of the most inspiring pitches of this season.”

They were speechless when he revealed his age.

Because at 13:
-Most kids are playing games
-Jaiwardhan is solving healthcare problems with AI

At 13, most of us were:
-Worried about homework
-Playing cricket after school
-Thinking about which college to go to

Jaiwardhan is:
-Building AI diagnostic tools
-Pitching to millionaire investors
-Asking for strategic mentorship

Why is a 13-year-old doing this?
And why aren’t more kids like him?

Because the system tells them:
-Focus on marks
-Get into IIT
-Get a job
-Retire at 60

Nobody teaches them:
-Build something
-Solve real problems
-Start NOW, not later

Jaiwardhan didn’t wait.

He didn’t say “I’ll do this after 10th.”

He just started.

The lesson here isn’t “all 13-year-olds should build startups.”

The lesson is: Age is just an excuse we give ourselves to delay action.

Everyone’s moving to Dubai and Singapore to start businesses but this country is 
ACTUALLY the best place to start. 

Dubai:
-Smaller startup ecosystem
-Dependent on expat talent
-Local market: 10 million people

Singapore:
-Strong but expensive
-Local market: 6 million people
-Higher cost of living (34% more than Dubai)

You must be wondering what’s that best place? 

It’s INDIA. 

-600+ million internet users
-Growing middle class with purchasing power
-Rising from tier-2 and tier-3 cities

You can build a billion-dollar company in India serving ONLY India.

Try that in Dubai or Singapore.

India produces:
-1.5 million engineers annually
-Deep tech talent pool
-English-speaking workforce
-AI, ML, data science specialists

India:
-Registration: ₹10,000-50,000 ($120-$600)
-Office (co-working): ₹10K-30K/month
-Engineer salaries: ₹15-30L/year
-Total first year: $15,000-$40,000

Dubai:
-Registration: AED 15,000-50,000 ($4K-$13.5K)
-Office: AED 20K-50K/year
-Engineer salaries: AED 180K-300K ($49K-$82K)
-Total first year: $60,000-$120,000

Singapore:
-Registration: SGD 5,000 ($3.7K)
-Office: SGD 30K-60K/year ($22K-$45K)
-Engineer salaries: SGD 120K-180K ($90K-$135K)
-Total first year: $120,000-$200,000

India is 3-5x cheaper to operate.

There’s government support too. 
-Startup India Initiative
-MUDRA Loans
-PMEGP
-CGTMSE

Dubai offers 0% tax.
India offers CAPITAL+MARKET ACCESS.

But what about taxes? 

Yes, India has higher taxes:
-Corporate: 25-30% (vs Dubai’s 0% in Free Zones)
-Personal income: 30% for high earners

But Taxes matter AFTER you make money.

Would you rather:
-Pay 0% tax on $500K revenue (Dubai)
-Pay 30% tax on $5M revenue (India)

Yes, Dubai and Singapore have advantages. India gives you the MARKET to make money worth taxing.

When I was 8, my mom asked me what I wanted to be.
I said: "A cricketer."
She said: "That won't work. You need engineering or medicine."
I was EIGHT.

This is not because she was cruel.
But because she paid ₹15 lakh for my education in a third-world economy where only 3 careers guaranteed safety.

My childhood wasn't mine. It was an investment portfolio.

This is not my story. But someone who took my 1:1 session 2 days ago, shared this. 

Usually, this is how the guilt trap goes-
- Parents sacrifice everything (leave country, abandon careers, learn new language)
- Children owe them obedience in return
- Any deviation from the plan = betrayal of sacrifice

In return: 
- Parents manage: your friends, your time, your clothes, your dating life, your career
- Even at 30, earning ₹50 LPA, you still ask permission to move cities
- Because in the hierarchy: parent > your dreams

Now, you will have to bear this: 
- "Sharma's son is an IIT engineer earning $200k"
- Your $150k job? Not enough
- Nothing you do is enough because the goalpost keeps moving

The emotional angle you can never escape: 
-"We sacrificed everything"
-"You don't respect us"
-"What will society say?"

Why do you think this happens?

Because your parents' parents did the same thing.

A cycle of trauma wrapped in love.

-Your grandfather controlled your father's career.
-Your father controlled yours.
-And now? You're controlling your kids.

But what's more problematic:
A 30-year-old earning ₹60 LPA still needs permission to:
- Quit a job they hate
- Move to a different city
- Date someone from a different religion
- Take a risk

Because the voice in their head isn't theirs.
It's their parents'.

And that voice sounds like: "You will fail. You need us. You owe us."

Studies show South Asian kids who grew up under this model have:
- Higher anxiety and depression rates
- Difficulty making independent decisions
- Guilt-driven choices instead of value-driven ones
- Strained relationships with parents even in adulthood
- A deep fear of disappointing others

One researcher called it: "The burden of being the good child."

-You suppress your needs.
-You ignore your mental health.
-You stay in jobs/relationships you hate.

All because saying "no" feels like betrayal.

The worst part?

The parents don't see it as control.
They see it as love.

Not all South Asian parents are like this.
Most parents are doing the best they can with the trauma they inherited.

But the cycle has to break somewhere.
And more importantly:
"How do we break the cycle?"

Because your kids are watching how you treat your parents' voice in your head.

And they're learning to treat your voice the same way.

China’s economy is 5x bigger than India’s. But China can never beat India in this.

Press Freedom.

I am talking with the numbers- 
India: 151st (World Press Freedom Index 2025)
China: 178th

That’s 27 places difference.

Not because India is perfect.
Because China doesn’t even try.

In China: 
-110+ journalists jailed right now
-State owns ALL media
-Censors the entire internet
-Banned private media investment
-Called “world’s biggest prison for journalists”

In India:
-Multiple independent TV channels criticizing government
-Newspapers like The Hindu, Indian Express operate freely
-Internet is NOT censored
-Private media exists and thrives
-Supreme Court can overrule government orders
-Elections are contested openly

Yes, India has loopholes. Absolutely agreed. 

- Sedition laws used against journalists
- Some journalists face arrests
- Media ownership concentration
- Government pressure on “unfriendly” outlets

But the difference is that
In India, these issues are DEBATED publicly.
In China, there is no debate.

There’s just control.

Think, in China, 
-Can a journalist criticize the PM?

Does it mean that India, can you do that freely? 
No. You’ll be criticised. But you can question/ rebel/ protest. 

That’s the difference between a system with freedom.

-India’s press freedom can improve.
-Laws can be changed.
-Public can push back.

China’s cannot.
Because there’s no mechanism for change.
Just orders from the top.

This is not about China-bashing.

It’s about seeing what works in our system.

Yes, we have problems.
Yes, we need to fix laws.
Yes, some journalists face harassment.

But we also have:

The right to disagreeElections that matterSupreme Court that checks powerMedia that investigates
These aren’t small things.

You can criticize India AND appreciate it.
Both are true.
That’s what Republic Day should remind us.
